Hey Guys. I've been away from Windows for the last 3 months, and today I finally got everything set up for doing work on it again (also just got a secondary monitor. However, I still find it much less visually appealing than OS X. I didn't think it was really worth making a thread over as you guys would probably know. I'm trying to get my superbar like this. I know about token, but I don't how to change the shell or apply the icons. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I also saw some people with more defined, square windows. Do you know what that's called/how to apply it? Thank you very much.
Visual Styles To apply them, I'm not sure about Windows 7 but I remember in Windows Vista you needed a file and then you had to put them in the folder where the Aero Themes were. Hold on, I'll try to find a tut. [editline]10:09[/editline] :eng101: http://windows7design.com/install-windows7-visual-styles-themes/
Automatic updates keep fucking up my custom explorer.exe
Automatic updates keep fucking up my custom explorer.exe
Ave (creator of AveDesk and VSB) was creating a program that allowed in-memory customization so you wouldn't have to reshack, which gets rid of that problem. It works great however he's yet to finish it.

I just went from XP to 7 two days ago, I absolutely love it. Even runs great on the 1gb of ram I have.
Service Pack 1 Beta Leaked. Also DWM doesn't work with it.
Wait, what?
Wait, what?
A beta of Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and has unintentionally been put on the internet. For some reason in this Service Pack DWM will not run.
Why would Microsoft even create an SP that breaks DWM?

What does the sp1 fix? There's not many issues.
Dammit, I want a change log...

Nice, any advice, looking into MCTS and MCITP:SE
Nice, any advice, looking into MCTS and MCITP:SE
Well I'd start by looking for a good prep book, search around for the most recommended ones. It can't substitute for real world experience but it's good for review and finding out in detail what topics will be on the exam. Also I found it useful to follow the book topics hands-on in a virtual machine, I don't know if that's possible for the tests you're interested in.
I like pie. [editline]01:25AM[/editline] I really do.
Going to upgrade to 7 soon, I can get Win7 Professional for 10$ at the University of Kentucky.
oh sweet thanks. also, I thought USB 3.0 support was going to be in this too? did they not have enough time or something?
Well it still has some time (6-7 months) before it's final.
So the other day I started up my computer to be welcomed with my desktop changed to a 640 x 480 resolution with a message saying my copy of Windows was not geniuine. I raged and turned off the computer. Then I turned it on and Microsoft figured out that it was actually legitimate. But now my desktop's organization is screwed up from the resolution being fucked with. Why did Windows do that?
WGA sucks dick, that's why.

Something else fucked up and WGA was a side effect.
WGA doesn't change your resolution. Something else fucked up and WGA was a side effect.
Well, I turned it on and my resolution was at 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 or something like that, and the desktop was black, and WGA was saying my copy was not genuine. I did a virus scan, and my computer's clean.
I just upgraded to windows 7 and I can't do anything google related, only getting 302 errors every time I search.
