Let's see... -There's are apps that allows you to install IPAs directly onto your device, modified or not, signed by apple or not, have DRM or not. Most people would jailbreak their device solely for this purpose. (Google what an .IPA file is if you don't know) -There are apps that will allow you to play a huge variety of media files with a large range of codecs, as well as allowing you to stream from a network, and convert it on the fly -There are apps/addons that allows you to customize the GUI of iOS however you like it, to spice up the look, sounds, and experience in general -There are apps/addons that adds additional features to the lockscreen, and you can check and read your mail, calender, weather, RSS feeds etc all at the same time without even needing to unlock the device -There are apps/addons that allows you to block certain numbers from sending you SMS and calling you in real time -There are apps/addons that allows you to turn features on and off, adjust brightness, and etc by simply sliding the Status Bar and will bring up a easy to use GUI rather than having to navigate through the Settings all the time over a simple (and possibly) frequent switch. -There are apps/addons that enables flash support on all idevices. Although it is still experimental, but it works on most flash objects I have encountered, and runs quite fast. -There are tweaks that can speed up your device and removing useless daemons and will potentially improve your battery life -There are tweaks that will also unlock hidden potentials and restrictions within the device, such as allowing to use Facetime over 3G -There are tweaks that will change certain aspects of your device to make it more useful, such as adding media control features to the volume button, and you can skip, rewind, and pause songs by simply pressing the volume buttons without needing to take the ipod out of your pocket even. -There are tweaks that makes the default Apple apps more enjoyable, such as adding video downloading features to the Youtube app, as well as the ability to play downloaded videos ... I can go on all day. Still not convinced? You're being dense then :colbert:
Why are you so set on getting people to jailbreak their shit? If they don't want to, then they don't want to
Hey nice edit adding the stuff i posted that I do [editline]01:25PM[/editline] Broken automerge [editline]01:28PM[/editline]
Why are you so set on getting people to jailbreak their shit? If they don't want to, then they don't want to
Also what he said
If people aren't interested when they understand some of the offerings, then so be it. I know my girlfriend is pretty much like that, even when I show her stuff like BiteSMS, SBSettings and Winterboard. They're about the only things I really care about when it comes to JBing! Some people just like the fact that it's a device can do three main functions in one device (Phone/SMS/Music) and just aren't interested in extending its features.
Forget it, your suggestions won't get into the heads of these dense people
I'm not being dense and I am certainty not illiterate, I just don't feel the need for any of those features. I've been using iOS devices since 2007 and I'm still managing fine. I did Jailbreak my touch but as soon as the App Store rolled around I no longer needed it. Just because someone knows how to do something doesn't necessarily mean they want to.

I already know about some of them, like sbsettings, but all of them sound really good, like that daemon disabling thing.
Please give me the name of these apps.
>Implies that IPA installers are solely used for piracy
because there isn't a single app released on installous specifically; everything on it is a) available on the app store or b) available on the cydia store. no developer releases an app on installous; they do so on cydia with a .deb file, not a .ipa file. the linux line isn't gonna work this time. awaits retort

Again, I was not talking about Installous exclusively, but IPA installers in general. FYI, these programs are not "release communities" as the app itself is nothing more than a browser that is capable of downloading, and installing IPAs. I personally use it for repackaging and installing custom modified IPAs which I've created on my iPhone all the time, for testing purposes. 2. It's not called a "Linux line", or anything close to it :downs:

Wow... Is everyone done slitting throats yet? I can't think of many reasons NOT to Jailbreak my ipod Touch. Besides listening to music, which it does just fine, I don't have money to spend on apps, so Cydia is my hero. I can't do anything fun without Cydia's apps, not to mention fix apple's annoying shit (mostly the lack of customization). I spend hard money on iDevice hardware, so I should be able to modify that motherfucker to my liking, no questions asked. Installing Cydia and using freeware apps is one thing, but pirating apps is just pathetic.
You don't have to jailbreak to customize. You can do it via iPhoneExplorer, which doesn't need a jailbreak.
"Hey guys, remember me, it's free will. Y'know, the guy that lets you choose between eating popcorn or nuggets. Remember me? Let me introduce you to my friend, the opnion. Hey opnion, whats your favorite phrase?" "Everyone has one, so respect it!" "Oh yeah, opnion + free will = respect! So if someone doesn't likes what you like, its their opnion, its their free will!" "Hey free will, have you heard about this iPhone 4.0.2 update thread? It's incredible how much it has de-railed from its original idea!"
