this is going to be a complete joke because no android manufacturer has managed to modify the OS cosmetically without fucking it up, a complete phone/tablet transition is going to be horrible and asus is the last company i trust with software and design. shoving as much hardware as possible in the cheapest package, sure.
All I know is with the Eee Pad all they did was add a bunch of useful applications and change the design of the buttons (which were much, much sexier than the Honeycomb ones)
The UI seems like a clean ICS build, with a new wallpaper set, widgets and themed control buttons. We'll see when the device it's out, but it looks promising. Oh, and a new tab in the app drawer for tablet/phone specific apps.
yeah dude a promotional picture for a device in development is accurate to what it's going to have at launch
It's basically what they've done with all their products so far, and considering that they've proved to be the fastest at pushing out OS updates, and they're supposedly going to be producing the 'nexus' tablet, I wouldn't worry too much
yeah dude a promotional picture for a device in development is accurate to what it's going to have at launch
You're absolutely right. We don't know nearly enough about the device to make any conclusions about it, or more to the point, how it will or will not function. Which is why it's wise to refrain from saying things like "this is going to be awesome," or "this is going to be a complete joke." Personally, I'm staying on the "we'll wait and see" train. [editline]31st March 2012[/editline] After all, it's supposedly coming out this month.
Personally I just don't expect a company to introduce a major interface overhaul out of nowhere when they already have the Transformer tablets that are almost stock, which (amongst other things) allows for quicker update releases than any other manufacturer out there, and that's one of the major things people are starting to like about Asus when it comes to Android devices.
That thing looks really awesome... That said, I wonder what the price is, lol... But I would this thing up any time I could...
Hey guys apparently the Padfone is going to cost $600 - $1000 dollars. It is already available for preorder in Taiwan for the price of $610 dollars. It's going to be AWESOME!
Source? [editline]6th April 2012[/editline] Apparently, everywhere. http://www.pcworld.com/article/253282/asus_padfone_preorders_begin_in_taiwan.html http://www.geeksailor.com/asus-padfone-price-pre-order/ Anyway, $600 seems like a reasonable price.
On its own, the Snapdragon S4-powered 1.5GHz dual-core phone is priced at NT$17,990 (US$610), while the tablet set -- including that curious Bluetooth headset / stylus -- will set you back NT$24,980 (around US$850). If you're thinking keyboard add-ons are all the rage, expect to pay around NT$28,901 (US$980).
http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/05/asus-padfone-priced-and-ready-for-pre-order-in-taiwan-tomorrow/ $610 for phone only $850 for phone + tablet + headset/stylus $980 for phone + tablet + headset/stylus + keyboard dock Damn, and I sort of wanted all three. I wonder if there will be any good deals when(if) it comes stateside with contracts, I would only want this if I could have the tablet and the keyboard for a reasonable price.

The next generation should be great though (if there'll be any :v: )
Asus' website is claiming it has up to 102 hours of talk time when the whole unit is constructed (Phone, Tablet, Keyboard.)
I don't see why not. I've got the TF101 (first Transformer) and it'll last a damn long time when docked. I think it's like 19 hours or something? And if I'm not actually using it, it'll still be charged for like 2 days, until I actually need to use it. So when you take the phone + tablet/screen (which is literally just a big battery with a screen) + dock, you're definitely going to get A LOT of time out of this thing.
My dad works in an ASUS service centre and he just told me that they received the Padfone for testing. I might also get a hands-on this weekend. Can't wait! I'll try to take some pics or review it, if possible. It's doubtful that I'll actually get it, but one can hope.
Just saying, the current Padfone will not be able to run LTE ever because the MSM8260A doesn't support LTE baseband, the MSM8960 does.

so its basically like the moto atrix but a bit more powerful?
New video.
You know all those commercials showing people using tablet to handwrite? I bought a tablet to take notes in school and it is freaking awful for that
If you use that shitty round, soft tip styles then I can understand. Who thought it was a good idea to write with a giant soft half-circle. It's like trying to write with your pinkie. Thinkgeek has a decent looking stylus. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/cellphone/ed01/?pfm=homepage_Featured_2_ed01
