This is like the Remote Play on PS3 and PSP. Pretty cool.
If it's just for Iphone, then screw ingame HD 1280x720 resolutions and up. Super awesome 320x480 resolution is where it's at. :c00l: Chances are you don't need a high end computer let you play Crysis on an Iphone. All you need is to select the lowest resolution possible that can still work with the feed.
I just want a faster VNC or secondary display service for the iPhone as the PSP has
Holy fucking jesus... If they can make servers 3G compatible and have next gen games werever you please... I will jizz in my pants.
You find me a $100 computer that can play Crysis. Oh that's right, you can't.
an unlocked iphone goes for about 699 [editline]04:18PM[/editline]
Well, I just bought an Iphone, and it was $99 for the phone itself, $100 for the initial fee, and $60 for the plan. I don't think even a $260-300 dollar computer could easily run crysis on max.
chances are this will run it at 640x480 if that brb status is about to be told http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119210 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102843 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148235 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.254104 240 x2, 2gb ram 4650 1gb, case 350watt psu, 785g hell the igp will run crysis
How would even begin to control this game with only a touch screen?
Why wouldn't you? If you can stream high-quality games in a affordable time to small handheld machines, who needs a 1000 dollar rig? Bit hard to drag the latter one along in the train.
you still need "a 1000 dollar rig" to stream it to your ipod, genius.
This isn't Running crysis on an iphone. Just merely streaming crysis on an iphone. Running would imply that the the iphone is doing all of the calculations and processing. Not impressive.
no one ever said the iPhone was running it. read the OP and the title again if you don't believe me, as well as the article.

he's not talking solely about crysis. see the word "games"? [editline]12:00AM[/editline] also, those bringing up the whole iphone costing whatever and such and such over an extended period of time: you're right, yes, but you're stupid for forgetting about the iPod touch. this sort of thing would be best over Wi-Fi, and in the same network. guess what the iPod Touch has. hey, what do you know, it's wi-fi.
I'm soooo convinced
Why wouldn't I want to? It's a shitty game, that's why.
It's besides the point, you fucking tool. Goddammit people, all this means is that you can play any fucking game you want on a portable device. The awesome part about this is that we don't necessarily have to be at our computers to enjoy high definition games, including Crysis.
Why would I want to play Crysis in the first place? It's impressive, though.

And they only offer a 2 year contract IIRC. $60 times 24 is over $1400 with the phone and activation fee it's over $1600 I think a $1600 computer could max out Crysis Correct me if I am wrong, I'm not entirely familiar with AT&T. But I seriously doubt they charge a $60 one time fee and that's it for the plan.
wow this is SO cool /sarcasm
OTOY is basically the same thing as OnLive and Gaikai. Looks like cloud gaming is really the future. Even Crytek said that they were trying to develop a similar technology but won't be available until 2012.
That's it - streaming's the new hotness!
Words.
You're a terrible troll. If you had half a fucking brain, you'd realize that the host machine would be playing at 'x' res, which could be anything from 640x480 to 1600x1200; and whatever res it's running at, it's sending that exact image to your device, which would then in turn compress it to fit on your screen. This means. Are you ready? This may be hard to understand. It'll be small, but SHARP, so it won't fucking matter. The portable device isn't rendering a single damn thing, all it's doing is sending information back and forth.

It is rendering the streaming image (which, if you knew anything about packet networks, is not guaranteed to be fast and ordered at the same time) I would think that it is also handling input. How does that work with the iPhone?

The portable device won't actually be rendering the Crysis (for example) engine. But yes, there will be input/output lag, which could be fixed through pre-rendering frames, but this could end up in lackluster performance.
I ran Left 4 Dead on mine
