There's plenty of work and anyone with the right service or management skills can easily get a job.

I go to university and I'm studying computer science. I'm expecting to the be the next Mark Zuckerburg making billions of dollars.
What do you think about this goal?
What the hell is a Systems engineer? Why do all the jobs in tech have really unhelpful names?

I did a summer internship and this is most of what I did. I spent a lot of time crawling around.
Also boxing and unboxing things.

System engineer basically sets up/develops systems to support a company. Like how I am setting up SharePoint, Lack of communication and business documents being transferred is hurting the company, I engineer (or set up) SharePoint around the goals of the company.
Basically the difference between Engineer and Administrator is, an Administrator will run an existing network or system, the engineer will set it up(and usually administer it).

do you feel you are paid well for the work you perform?
do you feel you are paid well for the work you perform?
I feel underpaid, but that doesn't stop me from doing what I love. Mostly I started doing this for a resume builder, hell I was thinking I would be stuck on helldesk, I still have to help out from time to time, but at least I get to make a difference in the place I work. Getting to Systems engineer this early really helps a lot on me reusme.
Most sharepoint Admins make 70K, people who do Esxi 90k, of course the job pays for my certs and college, and at times it can be slack sometimes.

City, State or ZIP code.
Err, ok.
We could not find jobs in the specified location "*".
Guess I'll try state then.
We could not find jobs in the specified location "*".
Fine, fuck it, ZIP code.
We could not find the zip code "*".

I don't see that being a long term job honestly.

He's gone from helpdesk to Systems engineer I don't see how it could possibly be short-term
He's gone from helpdesk to Systems engineer I don't see how it could possibly be short-term
K? Lots of people have done that. I've gone from tech support at Comcast to an $85,000 dollar a year Operations Engineer position in 4 years, and I'm only 24. Using his helpdesk to sys engineer situation is a bad example.

It just doesn't make sense that he'd get a promotion if it was temporary.

Not temporary, unstable. Two different things, surprisingly.
Who gives a shit if the business goes over in the next 5 years, he'll be making dough while not having to do helldesk while at it.
And he's getting actual experience while at it.
Yeah, like he said this is resume work
Yeah, like he said this is resume work
Everything can be considered "resume work." Whether people care, is another story.
I don't see that being a long term job honestly.
depends, on the job you are applying for and your skillset.
While yes most craigslist jobs are known for high turn over rate jobs, it is something to look at if you are pretty much starting at the bottom and need that EXP for a job on DICE.
depends, on the job you are applying for and your skillset.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Okay let me put it this way.
If you are early on in the IT field have little to no EXP craigslist will give the highest probability on getting some EXP, most people who post jobs on there are
A) Desperate for a person, IE someone quit no 2 weeks
B) The position is hard to fill, due to a lot of demand on the companies end
C) The pay is below average <= lol I know this is true for me
D) The company isn't a "Large" company and doesn't want to pay for dice or some other reason
Chances are if you look on craigslist that is what you will find.
Dice, on the other hand most jobs on their will ask you for 1-3yrs EXP or Degree
A) most are large
B) have a good list of requirements
C) Have alot of people with probably more EXP applying
Granted these aren't true on all levels but generally they are, don't believe me? check your local Craigslist and then Dice see which has the more requirements on them

I think he has a job with Craigslist, not looking for a job on it. Craigslist is filled with Nigerian scammers.
