From experience I can tell you to NOT use AVG. Avast! seems to be pretty good, I've been using it for a few months.
I found Kaspersky to be working well. Just make sure to look on eBay to buy it for cheaper.
Hi guys, Long time no chat. Very long time, actually. Microsoft Security Essentials isnt all that great imho. In my testing, it allowed through up to 80 of zero day malware out of 100 samples Avast was much better, but Avira free topped the pile for the free AVs. Paid-for, Kaspersky 2010 is one of the best AVs out there at the moment, and in fact it took me over 100 samples before I managed to get one past it Thats 100 success in my main trial, and a 99.9999 success rate overall. Norton 2010 was not as good as Kaspersky but still better than NOD32 which may surprise some long-time PC users at detection. TLDR version? For free get Avira nag screen or not or else Avast 5. Paid-for, grab Kaspersky 2010. Cheers.
I use norton ghost AV. Does the job, i don't have any problems with it.
Your all so so so so so so wrong! GO WITH AVG DUDE! FREE, CONSTANT UPDATES! IT will not let you down! http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?part=dl-10044820&subj=dl&tag=button&cdlPid=11014801

Depends. Paid, or free. If paid, I'd recommend something like F-secure (I used it for years, and never had any issues...), or Comodo (I've heard a lot of good things about it). Panda's also decent. In fact... As long as it's not Norton, it's worth using. They're all pretty much the same, anyway. If you want free... I'd recommend MSE (It's what I use now, because I don't have the money to pay for an antivirus right now. Recessions suck.). But, if you don't want MSE, Avast! and AVG are both pretty decent. Again, they're all practically the same. AVG has some nice heuristics systems, or so I've heard, though. Honestly, I'd just recommend an Antivirus, and some common sense. The antivirus for those that slip through, and stuff like adblock and Flashblock. Oh, and a more secure browser. And it's probably a good idea not to download everything on the internet, either. Yeah, that's about it. Good luck finding one.

And yeh dont use internet explorer 8, use something like Firefox, it loads up much quicker and its security is much tighter, also its more customizable.
Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus i use it but its expensive

I've been always using Kaspersky Internet Security, and it blasted the shit out of the viruses on my external hard drive ( fuck eMule ) . It works, and very well.
Depends- -Paid- Norton 360(Get 360 or a better version. Regular is ok, but 360 is much better) MacAfee -Free- Avria Norton is very good, i've used it since i got my PC, and no problems, runs like new. My brother, has MacAfee, and his is shit, it wont run correctly, its slow to open tasks, etc. But im sure it's because he doesn't update his stuff. EVER. But i would Recommend Norton Highly
I laughed through the entire thing good joke
It was, wasn't it. I admit, i just threw Avria and Macafee in their. But what program would you recommend then? Norton has its own commercials, which i haven't seen any other anti-virus programs do. Which leads me to believe it is doing the best, so far. Here are some: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXFNUBoUjz4&p=24BD720EFD8C728D&playnext=1&index=3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXFNUBoUjz4&p=24BD720EFD8C728D&playnext=1&index=3 Also- where would i post a Question asking if GTA IV will run on my PC, i have high specs, but idk what Section to ask in.
Best Scanner- Probably MalwareBytes, it scans pretty fast and is extremely lightweight, plus it's free. Best All-Rounder: Probably Kaspersky 2010.
I laughed through the entire thing good joke
Norton is one of the best nowadays, actually. It's just that idiots like you won't get off the bandwagon.
Norton is one of the best nowadays, actually. It's just that idiots like you won't get off the bandwagon.
I know, right! Everyone bashes Norton, but its the most successful Anti-Virus Program. They have their own TV Commercials for gods sake. But no, It sucks, and for what reason, i have yet to find out from them. SO if someone who uses Norton (I do, and i love it) please tell me why you hate it so?

It's the exact opposite nowadays.
It used to be bloated and shit. It's the exact opposite nowadays.
I never realised that problem, maybe i got it after they fixed it? I got this PC 4 years ago, when i was 10. Upgraded it many times since. Of course, back then, i didn't pay attention to all that. Now i do, however. But it only takes up like 2 gigs on my 1TB HD, which is nothing. Considering i have over 40 games on it, and i have 790GB Left :v:
If you have comcast as your ISP you can get norton for free.
I have Kasperski, never had any problems
Norton has its own commercials, which i haven't seen any other anti-virus programs do. Which leads me to believe it is doing the best, so far.
So if I make a commercial for Kim Jong-il, and air it, does that mean he's the best?
AVG Free with paid version of MalwareBytes. Not one infection in 3 years.
Norton is one of the best nowadays, actually. It's just that idiots like you won't get off the bandwagon.
Sorry, but Norton and McAfee are the two biggest targeted programs for malware to cripple and take advantage of your system... and their scans take ages compared to other vendor's offerings. Once a program like Norton leaves a bad taste in my mouth, there's no going back to it. Oh, and lets not forget how badly ot burrows into your system so that you have to use Symantec's "Norton removal tool" instead of the regular uninstaller... what shit.
MSE + Nod32 No infection for 5 months
Not in response to anyone in particular, but stay away from Bitdefender.
and counting
MSE + Nod32 No infection for 5 months
MSE + NOD32 Thought I had no infection in 8 months I switched over to Comodo on Mr Mooth's word It found 3 infections (I wouldn't go back to MSE/NOD either, comodo's great.
Sorry, but Norton and McAfee are the two biggest targeted programs for malware to cripple and take advantage of your system... and their scans take ages compared to other vendor's offerings.
False and false.
