• Best antivirus?

I'm fine with not running any AV at all, had no serious infection since 2006 by just using common sense while browsing. So I'd say the best is still common sense, if you don't download suspicious files, it's nearly impossible to get any virus(well there are still a few security leaks and all, but if that happens you can still use any "only scan" AV).

@ the chef. I mean doing the best financially, genius. It means more people are puchasing this over other anti-virus programs. The Kim example was terrible. But people have opinions. He could air a commercial, but I would not agree with it. Norton could air a commercial (done), but you may not think it is good. I would just rather go with norton, than a third party anti-virus. I've used it for 4 years, same PC and all, and NO viruses. NO slowness. Nothing bad. Also- why would hackers waste time trying to hack one if the bEst anti virus prigrams out their? If I was one, I would rather hack a easier third party program, which makes more sense. Also, wrote this on an iPod touch, so sry for any grammar errors, usually I'm a (sorta) grammar Nazi.
MisterMooth, my Norton 360 subscription is about to run out and I need your opinion. Should I spend $100 on Norton 360 v4 Premier or $70 on Comodo Pro. Money isn't a problem I just need to know which will be the best, protection wise. Another question, if I get get Comodo Pro will I be able to upgrade to Comodo 5 when it goes final for free? Or will I have to buy it again?

You don't need it.
Been using Microsoft security essentials, no problems here.
I'm using Linux Mint, and I have Avast! installed just in case... :chef:
But what about the WiFi protection?
It's just a VPN service.
How the fuck can they afford that?
It's an offer by the CEO himself. Their income barely comes from CIS since their free product is what everyone uses. They make most of their money from selling SSL certificates. From Wikipedia:
Comodo is a Certificate Authority, and is the second-largest issuer of business-validated certificates.
MSE, It's funny you say MSE sucks the cpu and other things. Yet, when I installed it on my Sisters Netbook and my Grandma's old computer they both ran fine without lag from MSE. Anyways I use Microsoft Security Essentials.
I've been using nod32 for about 2 years now, works pretty good.
Holy shit, I've just installed CIS v4 and I absolutely love it. I love how it gives you control over everything.
There isn't a such thing as "The Best Anti-virus". Every one of them have a downfall.
"hurr durr viruses don't do anything"
What's the worst that can happen? I don't use my computer for any online banking or other important things. Also explain me how I'd get infected by a virus without visiting suspicious websites or downloading suspicious files? It's not like you go to google and whoops a new virus has been installed... And I highly doubt anyone will make the effort to "hack" me, since there's no useful information for him on my PC.
What's the worst that can happen? I don't use my computer for any online banking or other important things.
Permanent system damage, stolen passwords, etc.
Also explain me how I'd get infected by a virus without visiting suspicious websites or downloading suspicious files? It's not like you go to google and whoops a new virus has been installed...
Legitimate websites are constantly being infected, whether it be through a hacking attempt, an exploit in their software, or even an exploit in their ads. Not too long ago even Facepunch was serving malware through its Google ads, which used exploits to go undetected.
get Avast! or get whatever one you think is best.
I tried Comodo, but I couldn't stand the interface for some reason. Of course, I can't remember what that reason was, so I guess it gets another shot.

Ok, now Defense+ is spamming itself full of notices about SetPoint. Never mind, I managed to fix it.
Comodo is free.
I've been using Comodo lately but I'm still using AVG on my other computers because I feel like it is a bit :tinfoil: though I am backing up my files more frequently. Is the RC that much better?
I've been using Avast for the last year. No infections yet. Also, I ALWAYS run my browsers sandboxed (Unless using chrome, that I don't bother sandboxing yet)
Avast! is quite good. I've been using it for a while now and i'm pleased to say the least.
Permanent system damage, stolen passwords, etc.
Unless a virus can fry a harddrive, memory, cpu or gpu, I call BULLSHIT. :crossarms: I fix computers for a living, and laugh every time the "GoToMyCleanPC.com" commercials say "viruses can cause permanent damage to your PC". It's funny how ignorant people are about reinstalling Windows. Besides, it's good practice to keep everything important on an eSATA or USB harddrive, as well as a backup of that. I keep everything important on my Western Digital MyBook 500GB harddrive. If my system is somehow compromised, A reinstall happens, and all is well again. VERY non-intrusive. :)

MSE is my favorite. Perfect system integration, very reliable and free.
Saw Comodo on FP, used it ever since, best damn free AV in my ( biased as always ) opinion. I've always loved Nod32.
If you use your computer for a variety of things use Comodo. If you just browse the web use Sandboxie.
