I'll vouch for Avast. I have used it for 3 years now, and I have been virus free for 3 years. I use the free home edition version straight from their website.
yeah me too. going on 4 years and never had a problem. and it's free, which most aren't
Common sense is the best AV. Combine that with Tools like MSE Or comodo, and you will have no viruses. No system is full proof, but when you know not to click on "mybigtits.jpg.exe" download, then you can at least help the odds.
I'm a huge fan of comodo. Like a few others here, I first heard of it on facepunch. I love it to death. Easy to use, lightweight, etc. It's sandbox is also a great feature, not to mention it's free.
Well currently I'm on ubuntu so... :smug: But when I'm on windows I use Microsoft Security Essentials.
I like kaspersky internet security it does the job extremely well, and as a bonus I get the 3 pc license version for free from my bank renewed for free every year. Before switching to kaspersky I always liked avira antivirus, used to score in the top 3 or 4 in av-comparatives testing.
Basic / Free awesome tools: AVG 9. Spybot S&D, Malware Bytes, SUPERAnti Spyware Free Edition. Kaspersky catches everything, but you need to pay £30 a year for it.
well i've been using PC Tool Antivirus for a few years on all my computers and it's been pretty good and reliable. I might try Comodo, especially because MisterMooth has posted over9000 times on this thread talking about it. I'll see how it is.
Hey does anyone know a free antivirus that works with Server 2008 32x. I tryed avira and avast but they both say some bullshit that it cant install on a server os, any ideas? Edit: holy shit I think i just made my 66th post :D time to get a avatar guys lol
Avast! just started using it I switched from Avira.
Goddamit, Comodo pops up roughly three times an hour saying it has sandboxed an application called "TaskUpdate.exe" or something, but when I click on it it says the location doesn't exist.. :sigh:
Avast + Comodo Firewall
In my opinion no one should never, ever get a firewall other than what Windows has. It's an endless buggery of stupid questions if it should block every single connection you ever make. Just my experience.

With Comodo Firewall I rarely ever get alerts since most of what I use has been declared safe by the program.
Jesus christ, Norton Internet Secuirty is free after mail in rebates here, why do you guys pay so much?
I use MSE, sure it may be signature based, but not much really gets through from what I've seen. Last time I tried Comodo Defense+ wouldn't stop moaning I think. Probably because I hadn't configured it right or something. Might try again, don't want my brother fucking up my new PC.
I just tried Comodo Internet Security. It's a bit too sensitive for me, but it detected a virus in one of my rainmeter skins, while MSE didn't.
I just tried Comodo Internet Security. It's a bit too sensitive for me, but it detected a virus in one of my rainmeter skins, while MSE didn't.
Version 5 is in RC2. It's improved a lot.
I'll stick with Avast!
There is no "best" antivirus. Every AV performs differently, so some AVs might be able to detect things others couldn't, and vise versa. I have Avast, MSE, Comodo, and a registered copy of Malwarebytes. Works like a charm, but oh god the spam
I love MSE. I just remembered, if you have Comcast, you get Norton for free if you visit comcast.net.
No
:bandwagon:
Just curious, is the new versions of Norton better than Comodo?
