Upgraded from my AMD Phenom II x4 955
never actually I probably should pretty soon, it struggles so much on some recent games GPU is a HIS 270X
Sorry for the jpeg compression
what the fuck, do you even have a heatsink????
Got some old relics still in here like the old 500GB hard drive and the GPU. I don't play anything too intensive anyway so the GPU does me fine.
CPU is running at 4.5 GHz for those wondering
Will probably upgrade when skylake comes out.
how is the tech preview now? is it worth putting onto my main system?
Yeah, It's pretty good. I haven't had any problems so far.
I'll set up a VM today and I'll see how it runs and feels. Any quirks I should know?
If you aero snap a lot the recommendations feature is a bit annoying but I got used to it pretty quickly. [thumb]http://i.solidfiles.net/9acadb47ac.png[/thumb] (This feature) And Windows will occasionally ask for some feedback with a little toast notification when using a new feature. Other than that it's pretty much Windows 8.1. [editline]2nd January 2015[/editline] You might also want to do this. Coming from Windows 7 to the tech preview (albeit only because my DVD borked), it's good. It's began to grow on me really. The changes to libraries and how they are displayed in explorer is something I don't particularly like (but am adjusting to) and I've installed classic shell because the lack of navigation in the start menu is something I miss. Apart from that I like it.
Why does it say my RAM is only @ 801mhz? Is it because it's currently not using enough to be at 1600 or do I need to change something?
Why does it say my RAM is only @ 801mhz? Also you should remove the 'l' from the end of the url because it just shows a thumbnail that's too small to actually see.
my poor laptop has been running really hot recently. I'm pretty sure the fan broke

I don't see a URL, I posted as [IMG] and the extension ends in .png
It's DDR (Double Data Rate) RAM, so 800MHz is essentially 1600MHz as it transfers data at double the speed of your clock (in this case, set to 800MHz). If you want to read up on how it actually is implemented, you should give this a read: http://www.altera.com/literature/hb/cyc/cyc_c51010.pdf If you're unfamilar with digital logic diagrams to read that: http://steve-parker.org/logic/ http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/electronic/dflipflop.html
It hits 130 under load
Your poor CPU knows firsthand that hell exists. That's intense man.
I really need to get around to putting the 480gb SSD I got on black friday in. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/IA7fzKX.png[/img_thumb]
What CPU cooler do you have, if you don't mind me asking?
It's a custom loop. (For CPU and GPU)
