Anyone know of a good cheap webcam? Like $20-30
Is there anything in that range that can do a nice quality 720p video and has the ability to focus?
Focus isn't that important but it would be nice. I'd really like a nice non grainy image first, though. Linux support is a plus, though they're all probably PnP at this point.

God damn RealTek drivers..
Is there a way to fix the COMPLETE lack of bass when using my headset on this computer? When googling around, it seems like thousands have this damn problem, but none of the fixes have been working for me.
My headset produces great bass when used in my phone.

Try other sources, your phone might just have a bass boost or your sound card might not be outputting a proper signal for some reason.

The difference between my phone and my computer is day and night, while my phone is able to produce bass so strong it hurts, my PC is like.. imagine having an amplifier and turning the bass knob all the way to the left. Yeah it's like that.
I didn't quite get what you meant anyways, should I plug it into my microphone input? :v
[editline]o[/editline]
I tried sending the sound from my PC through my phone via some wireless (and delayed) app.
Guess what? Still no god damn bass.
It just seems like the computer actually doesn't produce any bass, as if it mutes the bass.

other sources as in another PC, another phone, ipod, whatever
[editline]12th March 2013[/editline]
Actually, right click your audio output in the Windows sound settings and configure speakers, make sure it's set to stereo and that the speakers are set to full range. Maybe it's set up for a 5.1 system and it's outputting most of the bass to the subwoofer channel or something.
[editline]12th March 2013[/editline]
I also suggest disabling all enhancements

I've disabled enhancements, and also done similiar things in the RealTek control panel, tried mostly everything really.
It doesn't believe I'm using a 5.1 system, both RealTek and Windows is aware that I'm using a headset.
I'm moving some music over to my PS Vita to check the bass performance on it, though I don't see the point since my phone has already proven how effective my headset can be.
[editline]12th March 2013[/editline]
I've also tried multiple drivers from Realtek, and windows' standard HD audio drivers.
Same result.
[editline]12th March 2013[/editline]
Bass is perfectly fine on the PS Vita.

Well it seems like it's sort of working now?
I'll get back to this after playing some games.
Okay so I have a SSD with my OS on it, and I have a 1tb drive along with a 2tb I just installed.
I was wondering what should I do with these? It's quite a bit of hassle the way it is where they are all separate drives, especially when it comes to programming and stuff.
I read about combining them all in RAID or something but I'm not sure how it works.
Anybody mind giving me some help with what I should do?

which part do i upgrade
all of them

cpu if all you play are source games
So, Ive noticed that I'm getting shit performance in games and I look into cpuz. Apparantly, whenever I'm in game, all my cores are having a corespeed of about 1200 Mhz. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
I use an i5 760 @ 2.80 GHz.

Try turning off Intel Speedstep in your BIOS. It's a fucker of a thing sometimes.
I did that and it's still like this when in game. Even barely intensive games like Civ 5.
[img]http://puu.sh/2gHJS[/img] and 100 percent cpu usage.
For some reason, playing Civ 4 BTS causes Steam to constantly lose connection and then reconnect.
Why?

Thanks but I'm using Amazon monies, should have mentioned that. You reminded me about refurbs though, and made me remember Amazon Warehouse deals so thanks 4 that!
Jesus christ, sometimes google chrome just completely assrapes itself. Opening a new tab wont load anything, and navigating to new websites is impossible.
Browsing on the websites I got open is no problem, but if I try opening a new tab, even if it's the same page that is already open, it wont load.
I can't even find an answer as I can google, but clicking any of the results is imposible, as the pages wont load when clicked.

I've found that Chrome does that when it's starting the update process. If you can get to the About Chrome page, check that and see if it's started updating. Unfortunately all you can do is wait for the update to finish before you've got access back.

It's stuck at 0%, after trying a fix that would let me find the update executable, I can't even open the about page.
[editline]13th March 2013[/editline]
Thank fuck, it stopped.
[editline]13th March 2013[/editline]
It just said it was finished updating, what the fuck is going on.
Anyone know how long BT (British Telecom) keep logs about browsing history and such.

Yeah that seems to be an old bug. It'll stick at 0% while it's updating and then after a few minutes say "Nearly done, please relaunch!"
How do I hook up a Laptop to a TV?
My mom wants to watch some movies on her laptop by hooking it up to the TV but I don't know what kind of cables I would need

Depends on what ports the laptop and TV have.
Most recent laptops have an HDMI output, often a VGA or DisplayPort as well. I've seen some with DVI or Component video (RCA), but those aren't too common.
Most current TVs have HDMI input and Component video, some have a VGA port as well. Old ones will just have the Component.
HDMI is probably your best bet, but it really does depend on which laptop and TV you have. There is no "works on everything, guaranteed" cable. Just look on the laptop, see what ports it has, then look on the TV, see what ports it has. Find one that they have in common, then get a cable for it. That simple.

I found out that the laptop has VGA port, and the back of the TV has a VGA port too. So as the process of this goes with the cables, I just simply hook it both up and whatever's on my laptop screen is on the TV screen as well?

Generally. You may have to tell the laptop to start outputting to it (some laptops have a weird key combo you have to press like Fn+F8, and you may have to fiddle with the settings under "Screen resolution" depending on if you want to treat it as a second screen or have it simply copy what the monitor shows). And of course you'll have to set the TV to the right input, just like if you had a console or DVD player plugged in.
I am getting a new PC, And I got all the parts already, The CPU has something to do with hyper-threading, What exactly does it do, and is it safe? Or do I have the risk of completely screwing up the part?

You'll need a VGA cable and a 3.5mm male to male audio cable.

There's absolutely no risk of it breaking things. It's not like overclocking.
It's a thing certain* Intel** chips do to squeeze out some extra performance. Basically it tells the OS that it has twice as many cores as it actually has, and then runs two threads on each core. Much of the time it has to alternate between the two in order to keep them both running, but in certain cases* it can actually do them both at once.
Depending on what programs you're running, it can affect your speed in different ways. Normally it's a 10-20% speedup, in some cases as high as 50% or even 100% faster. Some programs actually run slower, oddly enough - there are ways to disable it if that happens. I'd just keep it on - it rarely hurts anything, and it definitely can't break your hardware.
* Certain Atoms (it doesn't take much extra power to run), certain Pentium IVs (which had terrible problems with threads stalling out), and certain Cores *after* the Core 2 series (mainly the i3s and i7s). Hyper-Threading is actually slightly different in each processor generation - it works far better on the Core series than on the Atoms.
** Hyper-Threading is the Intel term for a general technique called Simultaneous Multi-Threading. Other chip makers utilize this, although none for PC chips. IBM makes some server chips that run 4 threads on one core, and Sun (now owned by Oracle) makes some with up to 8 threads per core. AMD took a different approach - they took two cores and started combining parts of them.
** A processor core has different execution units for different tasks (integer math, SIMD, etc.). If two threads on that core aren't using the same units, they can both run at once. Additionally, cores can spend a lot of time idling while waiting for a read from memory. With Hyper-Threading, it can keep running a second thread while that first one is waiting.

Just randomly started doing this after a reboot. I've tried simply reinstalling and I've tried uninstalling, deleting all ATI related files and registry entries in safe mode and reinstalling. No go.
Edit: Sorry about that, must've neglected to press alt
