£900 for a laptop isn't exactly budget. i have had lenovo laptops in the past and personally wouldn't buy another with exceptions of certain thinkpad models, but those don't have the backing power i need [editline]16th October 2013[/editline] a 13" rMBP is a possibility if i can get a student discount, but until then they're just a touch out of my range, even if i did stretch it's an extra £300 over the MBP.
Does anybody know of a reverse image search that can access Facebook profiles? I have a feeling I'm being 'nigerian prince'-d [editline]17th October 2013[/editline] No money is trying to be extorted out of me but I'm just suspicious of a situation is all.
You can get to the facebook profile just by copying a number from the photo url.
I mean to check if it's a fake profile ripping images from another page, but the matter is solved. [editline]17th October 2013[/editline] More of a hardware oriented question, unrelated: Which mics (that I can plug directly in to my PC or afford working for less than $150) are the best/most suited for a deep talking voice?
So as my middle mouse button is dying I would like to know, is there a way to give another button that function? Like ctrl+leftMouse (To give the shortcut for opening things in new tabs all the features of the middle mouse button)
I overclocked my processor awhile back and since then my bootup has gotten progressively slower. Right now it is about 1 minute to get to the OS screen, and from there 3-5 minutes before my computer runs normally. If I log out and log back in it is just as fast, it only seems to happen when the OS is initially loading. Any ideas?
What anti-virus would you recommend? I've been using AVG for years, but some people say it's bad.
What anti-virus would you recommend? I've been using AVG for years, but some people say it's bad.
Microsoft Security Essentials is always a safe bet, not very intrusive, pretty powerful and it's free straight from MS.
Microsoft Security Essentials is always a safe bet, not very intrusive, pretty powerful and it's free straight from MS.
I used to use MSSE but not anymore. I use Avast now, which is a little more intrusive but not painfully obnoxious.

Quick question, I've been thinking about upgrading my mobo and cpu, should I worry about loosing all the data on my HDD when I reboot with everything updated? Also would just updating the mobo require the same thing as if I upgraded both? I know this probably sounds like a stupid question but I've never gone through with upgrading anything outside of GPUs and HDDs before.

This makes it score lower in the tests, but in a real-world scenario, where you're not going to get targeted by day-ones that often, it works fine. But yeah, MBAM or something to go along with it would not be a bad choice.

Got a small problem: Looks like the CSS files aren't loading for the site. I've tried this on my laptop and it looks fine over there. I've done all the traditional things to try and fix it - clear the cache, cookies and all but it still seems to not work. Any ideas? Edit: fixed, apparently it was adblock. weird.
What anti-virus would you recommend? It is obviously configurable, but i think you'd be better served by something like MSE instead of just turning down comodo's security.
I'm thinking of getting a Pebble SmartWatch, I've got 3 questions. 1. Do they ship to aus 2. Do you need to jailbreak an iphone to get it to work with the pebble 3. Is the general opinion on it good?
Hello, ive recently installed windows on this new pc.. and yesterday when I did restart my pc it would not go past boot screen, I had to go in bios and exit and it would start windows.. Now this morning i coulnt go into windows at all let alone bios screen.. So I unplugged my power cable and hold my power button down, replugged my cable and tried start and it started fine.. Im afraid this will happen again and this is not normal. Its almost like my mobo (gigabyte Z87-HD3) cant find the right harddisk were windows is on but thats just a loose guess what do you guys think? When assembling I did kinda put all of the thermal paste tube that came with cooler onto my cpu.. Which i now realise it can overheat. But this does not seem to be a problem my CPU temps are at 25C idle and 50C max when playing heavy games and my GPU are normal aswel. Why is this funny stop it i came here becuese my friends laughed me out aswel.

Considering Samsung's already selling one (Which, incidentally, is also terrible.) Yeah, I think you may have ruined the mainboard. That stuff is non-conductive, so if it got onto the pins under the CPU, they can't transmit electrical signals to and from it. My advice? Buy a prebuilt, or at least look up a guide on how to put together a PC before you dive headfirst into the shallow end of custom rigs. Also, buy a new motherboard. You've ruined yours.

Smart watches are bad/tacky imo The reason I wear watches these days is that they look sharp and its easier to glance at your wrist momentarily than getting my phone out of my pocket to tell the time. But I don't need all the ridiculous function of a smart watch. I'm not -that- lazy.
What do you guys use to download Youtube videos? I need a couple clips for a presentation. I'm going to use Keepvid but maybe there are better alternatives.
what, there's like no chance it would go under the CPU
Really? With my motherboard, the CPU doesn't fit flush with the surround, so there's half a millimeter where the thermal paste would, if I were to squeeze an entire tube of it onto the processor, seep in underneath it. I guess that's not the same across the field, though.
ok so im trying to get this 3ds rom... but its in 2 parts (and another is in 3) its in a zip file, and i have no clue how to do this. there's the link where i got it if you need that info http://www.linksjunk.com/downloads/3ds-roms/metal-gear-solid-3d-snake-eater/
Just got my multi monitor setup working. I actually bought my primary monitor to replace the second as it had died but apparently its not quite dead. Installed actual multi monitor so that I can browse while I play games.... and for some reason world of tanks defaulted to the second monitor. Which is fine, but it won't switch. Now space engineers won't work at all on my primary monitor and displays an "out of range" error every time I try to open. Alt-tab and it works fine. I tried a few things first - Old monitor is 1920x1200, new is 1920x1080. Set old to 1920x1080, didn't work - Old defaults to 59hz. Set it to 60hz, still no go. I don't know what to do now, anyone know what is going on?

Would there be any detrimental effect on my computer's fans if they're constantly running tilted or being moved? I doubt there's anything really bad about it but are there any long-term effects?
Could POWER7 be considered top CPU these days? And I mean not just for gamers or anything, I mean in general as CPU comparing to all others? I am writing a huge essay on Watson Computer and I need to write about hardware side too, I googled Fastest CPU's, but 3770k i7 came up as fastest.
Would Intel VT be responsible for the "out of range" problems I've been having when I restart since I can't really get into the BIOS to disable it.
I have a ton of files on a Windows 8.1 laptop that I need to transfer over LAN to a Windows 7 desktop to back them up. How do I do that?
