For anyone with a PS 3d TV, do you know if its possible to set the glasses in simulview with a game or w/e that doesn't support it? As in set both frames in the glasses to focus on half of the frames on the TV, while another pair of glasses have both frames looking at the other half of frames. I want to play some split screen games on my PC/PS3 that don't support simulview, and I have yet to see if it's possible to manually (without modifying the glasses itself) set the glasses in that mode.
The 3D tv I have has an option for this (top over bottom 3d) and can be used whether the game supports it or not, you don't set the glasses in that mode, you need to change the 3d setting on the tv

My TV has that option to show the 3d side by side or top and bottom, however I'm trying to do this:

I know the Sony 3D glasses get a different signal from the TV make it work like above version the regular 3D viewing, I'm not sure if I could mock that signal or change the glasses so it's in the L-L/R-R mode instead of all glasses in the L-R mode.

I've been having a problem with my brother's PC for some days now.
It turns on, but it doesn't work.
Like, I press the on button, then the frontal case light turns on, and the PC starts humming, but the monitor doesn't detect anything, nor the fans work.
Also, it hums lower than usual.
I checked for all the cables to be in order, and I cleaned it, but nothing works.
Anyone knows what could be happening?
My friend has a HP p6-2312ea and wants to upgrade his GPU. He currently only has an integrated GPU (AMD A4) and I have tried my 570 in it to see how things would go. Before hand I disabled Secure boot and enabled Legacy boot and threw my 570 in there. There was only 1 6 pin connector on his new 700 watt PSU I just fitted him... My card has 2 6 pin slots, so I only put in the one that was there and just hoped itd work. The machine booted and the fans on the GPU were working but I could only get the integrated video to output a video signal. I tried both DVI ports on my card and still no dice.
Is this because I didnt have 2 6 pins? Should he buy 6 pin converter?

Yes to both questions.
Still noobish regarding audio mostly, but at the present moment I bought a second hand Fiio E9 for about $40 back in 2011, and have been using it as both an amp and adapter for my 6.3mm headphones. The Fiio is starting to show its age and getting progressively worse with it's connections, and I was wondering what should I expect if I purchase this cable for adapting 6.3mm to 3.5mm and plug it into my Maximus VI Formula motherboard?
sup, I'm trying to move pagefile.sys to an external drive and I go through all the normal steps but then when I restart, my computers all "couldn't move pagefile.sys because of some error so Windows created a temporary paging file on your computer" and this keeps happening. So I read somewhere that I had to delete it manually so whenever I try to do that it says it couldn't delete it cuz it was open in another program. When I tried using command prompt as admin, it said it couldn't even find pagefile.sys.
I could really do with freeing some space, my C is only a 64 gig solid state.
I've got an Xbox 360 that I couldn't really remember why I didn't use it.
Turns out the hard drive has pretty much died. Much like last time I tried it, any games that are run off the hard drive freeze up soon as well as any disc-based games (presumably because of an inability to read saves). Since it's the older gen (which I can't buy any more), is it worth trying to open it up and replace the hard drive myself?

you might be able to symbolic link it.
I currently have TWC for my ISP but since Comcast bought them, that may change in the future. I have a few questions about them as an ISP.
Do they throttle?
Do they have caps? I've heard people say they do and that they don't. Does it depend on the area? My TWC has no caps in my area.
Probably won't get cable but if I do, how's their TV service?
Will they give me a shitty router?
Hey guys, I need some router information, I'm a bit confused with how they work, exactly.
I've had a Belkin router for 2 and a half years now, and only recently it has begun acting up, about 8 months ago, where the internet just...freezes, where I have to go and reset the router, without ever touching the modem.
So, is that a sign my router is dying or something?
And I'm getting 30mbs internet today, does it matter what router I buy, or do I need a router that can "handle" it?
I've never been shopping for a router before, so I'm not sure what to look for.
Coming back to this for a moment:

I popped in a copy of Red Dead Redemption and I've had 2 instances where pressing pause did the overlay but wouldn't show any UI elements for it and I've had my horse clip through the ground twice. Could this be HDD related or is the entire console kinda dying?
Looks like it's the HDD. No problems installing the game and booting it and no horse-clipping or UI tomfoolery. Bummer.
Quick question, I'm thinking of buying a GTX 660, will it be bottlenecked by my 2.8ghz quad core cpu?
What generation is it? As in is it an i7 or i5, or the Core2 series?
What generation is it? As in is it an i7 or i5, or the Core2 series?
It's an i7, lga 1366 slot which intel abandoned so I'm not upgrading my cpu anytime soon.
Anyone know good CPU and Graphics benchmarking software?

you're fine then
Where can I buy just a windows 8 key for cheap. I have the disc and my friend is installing it using my disc but needs a key and the windows website is probably the most poorly laid out website I have used in a long time
My dad wants to buy me a windows laptop because I cant use my mac to work with him at his NYC office.
so.... ~$800, windows 7, really would prefer if it is decent at photo/video editing, at least significantly better than my 2.4ghz core 2 duo/4gb ram 2010 macbook pro
you can't use bootcamp or whatever to install win 7?
Especially since it shouldn't be that much of a problem.
So like I said before, I am looking for ideas for a basic data mining project to help me learn it.
I was thinking of doing something on rotten tomatoes. Is this possible? Any ideas for a decent project I could do with Rotton Tomatos? Something like find out if the average rating of hollywood films is increasing or decreasing every year?
I need some help regarding my shitty wireless adapter
I'm currently using a netgear A6200 and it constantly disconnects. Now Im not trying to fix it because everywhere I go people are saying its shitty and thats what it does. It maybe interference but I for the life of me cant find out what the interference is so Im forced to find a cheaper solution. Im trying to turn a wireless router into an adapter and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about setting an old router up as an adapter. Im assuming that its the same as a repeater and I just plug it into my computer.
Would I benefit from a sound card for gaming to hear things better or is the onboard decent?
Would I benefit from a sound card for gaming to hear things better or is the onboard decent?
Depends on what your onboard audio is (ALC982 is rubbish, ALC1150 is pretty good), and what kind of sound system you have. It can't hurt, but it generally won't be worth it unless you have a decent speaker setup or good headphones.
I have ALC1150 right now, and Sennheiser hd380pro, which are decent headphones but not particularly for gaming I don't think.
Forgot to mention, the soundcard has to be external.

my mac is slow as fuck already and only has like 40 or 50 gigs open on the hard drive
sorry for this stupid question but i'm kind of curious as to what the SATA label on my cheap, generic external hard drive is indicating, the mode of transfer on my drive is by USB as you can see but is it okay for me to open up the drive to see if it does have SATA connectors without damaging it at all?

sorry about the jpgs, my phone only takes them.
Guh, I dunno if I should swap out my stock cooler for a Noctua one. It'd mean having to tear my motherboard out but a plus'd be I think a more silent PC than what I have now.
