It depends on your resolution that you game with. If it's only a £20 difference and you have multiple monitors I'd say it's worth going for the 4GB version.
sorry for posting this everywhere, but is this a decent monitor? I could probably get two on my $200 budget, but i'd have to get dvi-to-hdmi cables.

For $120, it's a good monitor, particularly if it lets you get 2. It should be fine for office or gaming use.
So I'm probably going to get a 3TB internal hard drive for my Birthday and I'm considering using the old 1TB as the OS drive but the thing is the 1TB is 5400rpm while the 250gb that I use now is 7200rpm. Preferably it would be much better to have them in together but I'm out of SATA ports on my motherboard.
Guys I need some honest awnsers here. I tell you now I fucked up. 2 days ago I got a 780ti classified gpu now this has x2 8pin connectors. It works fine, But today I installed 3 extra fans and by making all my cables nice and tidy. I mustve accidently unplugged 1 x8 pin on my psu of my gpu and when starting up both the fans went 100% and I thought mmm maybe this monster has some surious heat on startup but then 1-2 min after I realised nothing was coming on my screen. I shut off my pc and fixed that. And now It started up fine, But I wonder is this really bad? Did I damage my expensive pennies gpu ? Im crying of my stupidness Cant find anything on google of it I must have fucked up bad.

No it won't damage it, it just won't boot up completely.

Won't lie, I broke a whole system by doing that when I was a dumb kid (PSU overloaded, fried everything but the hard drive). But I left it running overnight, not for a few minutes (see: dumb kid). A few minutes of not having enough power is probably not a big deal, especially if your PSU can handle it.
If it's still running fine, it's most likely not damaged, but I can't rule out some sort of long-term effect. And they probably added some additional protective measures since then to prevent that kind of error (I think it was an X700 that I was using when I fried it).

I'll try here before I create a new thread.
In my Uni we have a network in which you have to log in. Its using Microsoft Protected EAP (PEAP). So I have two questions regarding security.
- Will the network administrator be able to view what my activity on the network as long as I am logged in with my user details?
and
- If so, will a vpn change this, even for p2p traffic?
I want to host an IRC server just for my friend and I to chat over as we want our talks encrypted. How can I make it so I can connect with the same account on multiple machines? Like my netbook and phone etc
Anyone have any experience with the Asrock Z87 Extreme6? I'm trying to get a ~$200 motherboard without any red, which seems difficult.
Apart from faster wifi and gbit ethernet, is there any advantage to replacing my 2005 ADSL2+ router?
Apart from faster wifi and gbit ethernet, is there any advantage to replacing my 2005 ADSL2+ router?
I would imagine the wireless security would be weaker than on modern routers.

I have had every Z/X extreme board since sandy bridge. Great motherboards, I fully recommend them.

Yes and yes, assuming the VPN connection is encrypted.

Use an IRC bouncer like ZNC or a client like Quassel that can separate its core and front end.
Anyone have any idea how to disable Norton DNS? It's blocking sites like facebook and gmail for some reason and I just want to uninstall it, but I can't find out how. I tried Norton removal tool, tried going in my network configuartions but it's already set to Obtain DNS server address automatically under IPV 4, nothing worked. Only seems to be happening in IE
Any good way of editing the stuff in the context menu?

If it's only happening in IE check IE's proxy/DNS SETTINGS
Is there any good free video editing software?
o_o
It's not bad, it's pretty much up to par with what you could build yourself. Get the gtx 770 version though. The case and motherboard and PSU are probably really shit though (the MB looks ancient). Building a computer yourself is very easy and you would be able to get much better price and performance for the same price.
Does anyone know anything about the quality of Acer's prebuilt PCs for gaming?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103854&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-Desktop%20PC-_-Acer%20America-_-83103854&cm_sp=&AID=10440897&PID=7260568&SID=
I want a prebuilt. I've heard Acer is shit but that prebuilt has good specs and is in my price range. I'm not comfortable building a PC by myself. Would buying this be a good or bad choice?
Eh. Motherboard looks really cheap, same with PSU and case. Also, it looks like it has the shitty OEM 760. 1.5gb and is going to be clocked like a 660 instead of a 760. There are zero brands stated so I'm not sure on anything else.
yeh

Get Private Internet Access. Its cheap, they do NOT keep logs and they are fast. 100% recommended. Also very good encryption to assure your full privacy and safety where ever you go.
You won't, it's very straight forward and simple actually. You can watch a few videos or a step by step picture tutorial and you'll be fine, there's really nothing you could mess up. For $1000 you can get a very good build that can play anything on high with much higher quality parts than that Acer. Just look at its motherboard, it's embarrassing. Post a thread in the pc building section here and youll get help
I'm just worried that I'd somehow mess something up/break something after spending $1000 or so on parts, or get stuck on something and not be able to proceed since I have no one irl to ask for help. I'm paranoid.
Honestly everyone thinks that before they build their own. Sure there can be headaches sometimes but in general building a PC is not too difficult once you've looked at a video guide.

but yeah, I probably won't buy that then. (because of the cheap mobo/psu/case as you guys stated)
Hell, if you have a current computer with a webcam, I'll hop on skype and walk you through building a system if you get parts.

All the network administrator would see is that you have an encrypted connection to a VPN service; they won't be able to see the online services you're accessing, nor the data transferred between you and the services.
