How can I make my computer shut down after three hours of inactivity, or at a specific hour? No matter what's on the screen. I usually fall asleep watching movies/series/youtube and that seems to count as "not idle" for as the auto-suspend thing.

You can make windows let it goto sleep.

My dad tried to burn a DVD but the video on it plays at x2 speed, what could be the cause of this?
What are your opinions on this FP?

I've had so many issues with my HD6970 MSI Gpu in terms of over heating. i got this about 1.5 years or so ago. half way in i started having issues with the card crashing cause the temps would rise up to 90c and then bam would go my computer. I sent it back into MSI to get it fixed, and they replaced the housing and heat sink from what i could tell. When i got it back it worked great! temps were back down to 70c during full load but about 3 months ago it has now degraded back down to its old ways.
Would this be a good purchase to fix this issue? or maybe MSI puts shit thermal past on? what do you guys think.
that's 1/3 the price of a mid-end gpu to prolong the life of an already outdated card
really, really not worth it at all
save up and get a new graphics card

have you tried dusting it, because you're pretty much describing what dust buildup does
My monitor seems to be laggy, for some reason whenever I try scrolling down webpages or using youtube there is a bit of stuttering, when viewing the gpu on Afterburner, doing so also causes the gpu usage to spike. Could it be that my 4670 is in a PCI-e x1 slot?
• Install Windows 8 to SSD, don't clear HDD yet
• make the username on both Windows 8 installs the same
• copy old Users folder over to new one
should do it
No, useraccounts have unique IDs and settings arent in the Users folder.
No, useraccounts have unique IDs and settings arent in the Users folder.
why the hell would they go and do that
like literally what's the point, stashing shit in the user folder worked fine in the past
Triple Monitors!
I have two video cards, my "main" one that's a nVidia GTX 690 and some cheap off-the-wall PCI-E GT220.
I use the main card to drive my main monitor, and the cheap card to drive two secondary monitors.
Does this decrees performance at all? If i'm playing a game just on the one (main) monitor, is my FPS affected? I assume this might effect the actual speed of the PCI-E slot(s)?
Not sure if I should "disable" the other two monitors before playing a game.

It shouldn't. Even if you had the 690 driving all the monitors, if the game was only on the main, it shouldn't be slowed down any noticeable amount.
I've run triple-monitors on my 660M, and gaming didn't feel any different then than it does with just one monitor plugged in. I didn't do any strict measurements though, but I didn't have to change any settings to keep Skyrim playable. Unless your main monitor is a 4K display or something, your 690 should be more than powerful enough to not have to worry about the other monitors.
I think my Geforce 6600 is showing signs of dieing. Sometimes in Linux the graphical cursor was a box of blue gardients and then kernel-panicked, or on win7 it used to do graphics driver faulire at least once in a week. Some games had graphical glitches, but not very visible. The most noticeable glitch are on Source engine games, where the shadows of prop_physics and ragdolls are just a dumb black box, and the flashlight is invisible.
Atm I can only switch to the intel hd x4500, which.is pretty much the equalient of the current card with dx10, but it will be a while to get a new card. What should I expect? What can I do?
switch to integrated obviously
how on earth do you still have a 6 series card?

I still have a GeForce 2 MX in one of my computers.
Not a GeForce 200. A GeForce 2.

what's the point exactly?
what's the point exactly?
GeForce 2 is an AGP card, so most likely too old for it have a PCIe slot.
I think there was a little while where they made motherboards with both, but it definitely wasn't long.
Some people are poor.
his motherboard is from 2008 at the earliest which means he upgraded it and possibly something else without upgrading his graphics card which makes no sense because he obviously plays games
his motherboard has at least one PCIE x16 2.0 slot, which means at any point between now and 2008 he could've gotten a new card, and there have been plenty of ultra low end cards that would be huge upgrades over what he has now for less than $50

?
i was asking what the point in keeping something like that around was
what's the point exactly?
Several reasons:
* If both my laptop and desktop die, I still have a working computer (that one has no video output on the motherboard, so some card is needed). Not as big a risk now that I have both a laptop and desktop, but it saved my ass several times when all I had was a laptop.
* Throwaway server. I can make wild changes to it without worrying too much. If I want to try out a new database server, or new desktop environment, or build my own kernel, the worst that can happen is having to do a reinstall.
* Porn storage.
* Retrogaming - it's fun to have a machine that can't play anything past DooM ][.
Can anyone recommend a decent desk chair that doesn't cost a million billion dollars? My current chair recently decided to snap apart despite metal construction, so I've been thrown in the market without much money. I'd prefer a rolling chair with arm rests and mesh would be a plus, but for cheap I can't be picky. Any help would be appreciated.
Ok, so I found this old computer underneath a table at my house. The only clue as to where it came from is it has my family's last name written on the back and on the bottom it is labeled "SUPERPOWER" I was hoping that someone here may have an idea of what the fuck it is. Also, disk boot error on start and I can't find a floppy to fix it, even though it has a CD drive. Sorry for the shitty pictures in some, a mix of photos with my old camera and new camera.

for some reason has a floppy drive, a tape (?) drive, and a disc drive.

That hole is where the keyboard connects, lucky for me I happen to have a keyboard with a DIN connector. At least I think it may be DIN, I am still not sure. Also, there are 2 power cable ports, except one is for output from the looks of it.
Honestly have no clue where this came from or how old it is, hoping to get some help with this.
Open it up.
Next chance I get I will.
My television is advertised 720p HD, but its actual resolution is 1366x768. Is that because a 1366x768 screen is cheaper to make then a 1280x720 screen?

a leftover from when 16:9 displays were first becoming used
1366x768 is the 16:9 version of 1024x768, and as such was the first widespread widescreen resolution for the first HDTV panels
why they're still being used today I don't know, but soon enough you won't even be able to buy 720p (or 768p) monitors/televisions anymore
