Is it running hot?
Yes, the lowest it idles is 34c which is good. However it quite often gets to 100c (and possibly above, I've never seen a reading of 101 so maybe the temperature sensor doesn't go that high) in certain games that really push it. My CPU gets quite hot too, I'm running the stock Intel cooler (I have a hyper 212+, took it off because it made my case vibrate but I'm planning on getting a corsair 230t in a few days so I'll put it back on then) with arctix mx-4 on an i5 2500k slightly overclocked and it hits 80 at times

snip fixed it
Networking Question: I cannot connect to my router via 192.168.1.1 any more. I can get to the modem via 192.168.0.1, but not the router. For the others that use the network it isnt a problem as the Wifi still works, and is protected, but for I its an issue. I need to be able to get to the settings. I'm not sure what to think about right now. I've tried resetting both it and the modem to no avail. 192.168.1.1 is the default gateway. Its been running DDWRT for the last two years no issues. Now, I cant connect to it. Is the router dying? [editline]1st June 2014[/editline] I do not have a system light on. which according to the manual means I have a system failure. I do not like the sounds of this. I may reflash DDRT to hopefully fix it
I'm sorry, your PC is getting hot enough to boil water?
Don't most GPU's run that hot? This is with the card fan on the lowest it'll go, I'm not a fat nerd I couldn't care less how cold my rig is I just want it to be quiet. It's been running perfectly fine at high temps for 2 or 3 years. I'll change the paste and clean the heatsink on it today to see if it makes a difference and then maybe I can turn the speed of my case fans down.
Having trouble with audio. Even with the volume at 100, and Loudness Equalization everything is as soft as a whisper. Even reinstalled drivers. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4765#ov
My brother has donated me a 120GB SSD which is nice of him. I would like to put some stuff from the C drives on there but I'm not sure how to go about it, as I heard that cloning a drive and pasting the data into another one can have some problems. Some other people also say it's fine so I'm not sure what to believe. Also I couldn't just clone my entire C drive because I'd have to leave Steam and probably a few other things on there and maybe just take Windows & a few other common programs. Any advice?
Make sure graphics drivers are up to date, make sure you have the c++ redist and try running directx web setup
Tried all that, didn't take Interestingly though, this is a new day and a new boot of Windows, and now it works. I have no idea.
So my CPU has started to become pretty damn hot whenever it gets any load above 15% or so. I got a huge-ass cooler master v10 cooler, but I guess I need to take it off, apply new thermal paste and put it back on again. I have never actually done this before though. Every cooler I've installed in any computer has always been pre-pasted and I've never changed the thermal paste in a computer before. Is it literally just to wipe it clean, apply just about 1/4mm layer and putting the cooler back on again?

Mine tops at 70C.

CPU Aftermarket cooler question: So recently I noticed that my cpu runs way to hot on stock clock (i5 2500k 3.3ghz) with the aftermarket cooler I have built in (on 100% load it reaches 90c easily and quick) it wasn't like that a year ago (and I even had it OC to 4.4ghz). It's build in angled and I wonder if changing the angle to a straight blowing out of the back case fan would solve this issue? Aswell as tightening the screws. Currently it is angled to blow to the top left corner of the case for whatever reason since I bought it.
I'm thinking of upgrading from E5200 to i5 4570. How much improvement is it? And do I need to replace the PSU? Haswell has some new power management stuff, so I'm worrying about it.
how do i end task manager
if your cpu is reaching 90c your heatsink isn't on correctly
Just fixed it... I had the heatsink like this wrongly mounted for 2 years oh my god.
Just fixed it... I had the heatsink like this wrongly mounted for 2 years oh my god.
Well shit happens. You can always learn from mistakes though.
Well shit happens. You can always learn from mistakes though.
I did and I could OC my i5 2500k to 4.3ghz while outside temperature is 23c without hassle and problems, max temp on full load in prime is 66c now :v: happy as fk here.
It's much better than the E5200. You wont need to replace the psu. How much money do you have for the mb and cpu?
If everything works out very well in the next two months, I would have 500-540$ for the upgrade, which includes: - ASUS B85-PLUS 98$ - INTEL Core i5-4570 219$ - KINGSTON 4GB HyperX Blu DDR3 1600MHz CL9 50$ - ASUS GTX650-E-2GD5 2GB GDDR5 PCIE 142$
I'm looking at buying a Corsair Air 540 for a new case since my Antec 1200 is worn down and giant. A problem that I've run into is that the case only has two 3.5" HDD bays. I'm looking for a solution that would involve some sort of bracket that would convert an optical 5.25" bay to one where I could mount a 3.5" hard drive. When searching, all I can come up with is optical to floppy drive conversions. Help pls.
hey guys, i can pick up a 8 core amd proccesor for a relatively cheap price. I currently have a 4 core amd cpu. I compared the 2 cpu's, and the conclusion was that my current (quad core) cpu has better single core performance, but less overall performance. Most games don't even use all 8 cores. so will it give me more performance in game or not?
probably not, what models are they?
