Any Microphone (Preferable USB type) for VoIP recommended for under £40?
Would love to have a Desktop microphone which captures my voice decently without too much static noise.
And could Webcam microphone do the job for me? I need a webcam, and see that most of them seemed to have build in microphone.

It doesn't necessarily need to be a USB type. I could go on for a normal Jack.
I'm on a budget of next to nothing and my graphics card and PSU got fried in a brown out.
I has a warranty on the power supply, but no such luck on the card. What's a good replacement for a 9600GSO that isn't discontinued or second hand? AMD or Nvidia are both fine.

how much is next to nothing?
So I'm gonna be buying an Elgato Game Capture HD in a few days for my laptop, and this laptop is kind of cheap (got it on HSN with easypay, needed a laptop at the time and this was the easiest to pay for at the time). I'm wondering if I'd be able to use game capturing software on this laptop, it can be slow at times and I don't wanna buy something I may not be able to use. I know more than enough to be a good PC user but not enough to know where I need to draw the line for software and games. I mainly just want to stream games for my friends that I'm in skype calls with daily and that's about it, streaming in HD isn't that important. If you need any more info on my laptop just ask.

I'm trying to squeeze a little more life out of my old family computer, it has
X2 6000+
2gb
8800GT
and I'm trying to do it with as little money as possible. Is some $100 GPU worth it or no?

what can a $100 gpu do for that computer that the 8800 gt can't

a lot of things, though I'd say he wouldn't see many gains in most games because the CPU is quite the bottleneck.

what motherboard? it might be AM3 compatible, if so I'd suggest a CPU upgrade and maybe 2GB RAM if you can fit it in the budget.

Sticking a better GPU in there will do almost nothing because of the bottleneck. It'd be a waste of money.

he said family computer, which probably means it's just being used for word processing, Internet browsing or watching movies; if that's true there's no point in upgrading anything
[editline]23rd March 2013[/editline]
which is specifically why I said "that computer", as in what its specific uses are
obviously a modern $100 card would be immensely more powerful than the 8800...
how much is next to nothing?
As in what's the cheapest card that I can get that wouldn't be a noticeable downgrade.
based on the limited amount of information I could find on the 9600 GSO and the different settings the older reviews used to test the card in comparison to what they use for more recent cards, it seems like the 6670 is about the cheapest thing you could get without losing performance
[editline]a[/editline]
this is an approximation of what you can expect performance-wise, as the 8800 GT is a slightly better card than the 9600 GSO:

i dunno what's going on with the SC2 results
Is Ccleaner still the best tool for general computer cleaning (disabling startup crap, uninstalling stuff, cleaning gunk and fixing the registry) or has anyone found anything better?

Sometimes when I'm around I like to play games on it that's why it has an 8800 in the first place. It seems like it's about to die out because the psu already failed a few times (it was replaced). It idles at like 75C and strugles with csgo on medium settings. The motherboard is AM2 and an identical RAM kit now costs as much as one 8gb stick, so I figured the cheapest way to not make it shit itself doing anything was a new card.

Just clean it for dust, that should take care of the overheating issue.
Anyone ever worked with iLO?
Mine sits here for a bit then times out.

Hey, it's the first time I post here and I'm hoping to get some help because I'm really clueless.
To make it short, I think I have to buy a new home router to support my needs. I currently have a Linksys WAG120n router and I'm afraid that it is (along with the horrible ISP I'm currently served by) making my connection slow by not being able to keep up with the devices connected to it. It often disconnects by itself and my Macbook (although it could be a problem with the Macbook itself, because my work Macbook doesn't do it) often loses connectivity without even noticing, when it's connected to the WiFi network.

On average, three PCs and another three mobile devices are connected to the WiFi network, and I'm afraid that the router might be struggling to keep up with the connections (although I could use some advice on this too).
In case I need a new router, I'd like to be pointed in a direction by anyone who knows a bit about this. Basically what I need is a semi-serious router that can be used for work and have many devices connected at the same time without caving in to the pressure. I think the most I can spend for it would be $120 (which as far as I know would already buy me a decent one).
Thanks.

Sorting by average rating on Amazon turned out with the Netgear DGN2200v3 at the first place (it costs a lot less on the Italian Amazon). Once again I'm clueless about this, but would this router be a good choice?

The WAG120N I have is a crock of shit for me too. I upgraded to a Asus RT-N66U running Tomato CFW, it's expensive at just under £100 but holy fuck does it fly.
If you want to spend less, there's also the RT-N16, which is the same as the 66u but only operates on 2.4GHz and doesn't support anywhere near the same amount of connections, but is still a kick-ass router for £70 (and also will happily run CFW)

If I drop a PCI graphics card (Geforce FX 5500) into a system with a PCI-E one (GeForce 8400GS) are they both gonna work or is it an either/or situation?
If I drop a PCI graphics card (Geforce FX 5500) into a system with a PCI-E one (GeForce 8400GS) are they both gonna work or is it an either/or situation?
They will both work, but independently from each other (ie. you can have monitors hooked up to both, but you can't (AFAIK) have games span across monitors hooked up to different cards, and the two cards won't work together to boost framerate or anything (ie. no SLI)).
That's fine, this isn't a gaming machine. As long as I can get all 4 monitors working again I'm happy. Thanks.
HIS HD 7950 on sale for £234...worth buying at that price? Or have there been been better deals.
Is it able to support a lot of devices?
We have 8 devices on it currently. Keep in mind though that it is a G router, so if you have a really fast internet connection it won't be used to its full potential.
is my shit still gud? i built it like two years ago
i7 930 @ 3.5ghz
gtx470
6gb ram

This just gets stuck sometimes, only really way I've found to get it to leave is if i restart my computer, and it's pretty annoying since it's always on top

try ctrl + shift + escape and restart explorer (close, then file -> run explorer)
Fixed it, I have to task-kill dwm.exe

WRT54G is a good solid router, sadly it's old and only allows 54Mbit.
I have a Linksys E4200 at home. Aaand I would say it gets some pressure. We have ~10 connected units, where only two are wired. Sometimes we have more on it. It runs with ease. My server also runs some VPN so if I wanted to I could connect to home so it also takes some more IP addresses.
I have 40/40mbit fiber, I get 50/50 and some times almost 70mbit. My router handles it perfectly. I even had a problem with lightning which broke some stuff, so I kind of fear that has made the components get slightly hotter - might just be me though. It can feel a bit warm, but it runs like it should.
EDIT: Oh, and the router has 5ghz so your macbook can have it's own little party.
EDIT2: Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but why the fuck would you skip on something that all your devices use anyways?!
