Can anyone recommend a decent keyboard under £40
Corsair Raptor series springs to mind, along with the Microsoft Sidewinders although I don't remember their prices.
I recently got a new computer and I have no clue how to optimize the fans and all of that stuff. My specs are: GTX 770, i5 quad core @ 3.5ghz, 16gb RAM, 2TB HD. I have Speccy and when gaming my GPU sometimes reaches 80c. I know that's entirely acceptably for the GTX 770, but I still downloaded EVGA Precision to try and optimize my fans. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1RfYGQj.png[/img_thumb] I know there's a fan curve and that it can control my fans and stuff, but how exactly should I set it up to help my computer as much as possible?
I have a question about PCI Express slots. I currently have a Gigabyte EP45-UDGL with a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot using a GTX 460. I want to upgrade to an GTX760 but I heard some of the power of the card is wasted because my PCI Express slot is not 3.0. Is it still worth it to upgrade to the 760 and then get a motherboard upgrade shortly after?
The titan black is not even held back by pcie2. The PCIe spec is usually far beyond what GPU tech is at
Wasn't sure if I wanted to make a whole new thread for this, I really just want some confirmation. My girlfriend wanted a new laptop for when she goes to college and whatnot, so I've been looking and yesterday finally sat down and went all through Newegg and Tigerdirect, found some good ones, went through them with her, and this is the one we picked out. I'm not too experienced with the HP brand, but I haven't ever had any issues with them. I think I had an HP computer once, and it lasted a pretty long time. My friend had an HP laptop as well, and he said it lasted him 6 years, so it's sounding pretty good. She doesn't need raw performance power, which made it kind of difficult to think about because normally I'd be looking for gaming specs. She doesn't need all too much space, her current laptop only has 120gb that she never even used all of. Figured she'd just want decent performance for multitasking and such, good boot time, etc. Thought about getting her an SSD but those are way more expensive for almost no space. She wanted to keep it under $500. So do you guys think this is an alright choice? It's sort of a large investment and I don't want to recommend something like this to her without some more opinions. Are there any other laptops you guys would recommend? Honestly, I'd kind of like if her laptop was capable of playing some games, because when she leaves for college we're hardly ever going to get to see eachother, so it'd be nice if we could maybe play together online sometimes.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/uYLv3sl.jpg[/img_thumb] One of my side panels has an opening for a fan but I don't have a fan in it. I don't really need one, either, I idle at like 20 and with shit running on high i only hit MAYBE 50. I'm worried about dirt or dust getting in, though. Should I cover this with something or is it fine as it is?

I wish there was a way to disable any fan speed display in precision. It keeps telling me my fan is at 30%, but it's not. Because I don't have a fan plugged in.
What the fuck, EVGA Precision is now on steam and has achievements too?
What the fuck, EVGA Precision is now on steam and has achievements too?
Some of those achievements are crazy.
Wow they get rid of Logitech gamepanel support in this new 5.0 release, screw this, I'm going back to 4.2.1
For reasons unknown, anything I delete is immediately 'completely' deleted. As in, it sidesteps the scenic route to the Recycle Bin. Anyone know how to fix that? [editline]16th July 2014[/editline] Never mind, my RB is bugging out. The icon shows it's empty, right-clicking has 'empty recycle bin' greyed out but it's got deleted files in it. [editline]16th July 2014[/editline] Wait a minute. I can't tell if my recycle bin is empty or if it has files in it until I open it. Schroedinger, what are you doing in my computer?
Whats the current top of the range i7 processor and motherboard chip set?
Whats the current top of the range i7 processor and motherboard chip set?
The 4790k and Z97. Although the X99 chipset will be out soon(ish) with 8 core i7's
Whats the current top of the range i7 processor and motherboard chip set?
The "top range" right now is Ivy Bridge-E, the 4820K, 4930K and 4960X, on the Socket 2011 platform using the X79 chipset. If you're referring to the non-E Core i7s (ie. the consumer line rather than workstation line), the top of the line are the 4790K, using the Z97 chipset.
Some of those achievements are crazy.
not sure how I'm supposed to pull off "Keyboard User" or "Up to Date", this is hard
76C is well within acceptable tolerances.
Okay. So far when playing I haven't seen it go up past 80c. The fan seems to follow it so when it's 80c the fan is 80% etc. It should be okay then!

Is a Chromebook worth it? My 2 old laptops suck. Web browsing's starting to cause them to lock up, and the other has a jacked up keyboard and it has this problem where it doesn't charge the battery at all. I'm thinking of selling them for what I can get and then buying this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834131777 This looks like a really good laptop for the price. I need a laptop for schoolwork, internet, and media playback (so I'd like to be able to display stuff on Netflix on my TV via HDMI). For anything that requires Windows or more power, I have a decent desktop computer.

Take a look at the off lease or refurbished lenovos/latitudes. There are a lot of models out there right now with first gen i5's, 4gb of RAM, and a 1440x900 screen for around 300
I have a hyper 212 cooler with the stock fan. it's a bit noisy. It's more of the tone than the airflow that bothers me. Is using a swanky noctua fan as a replacement going to be worth it?
I normally use Filezilla for my FTP needs. It works fine, but I would rather use Windows's feature for mapping a FTP location as a drive, so that I can more simply save content to the web and integrate programs with FTP more easily. With windows network location mapping, I can establish a connection and read and create files. I can rename files. But I cannot delete files, because I apparently do not have permission. Again, everything works fine over Filezilla. Any idea why this is? How I can solve it?

Is this okay?
Can you try clicking the link icon to the left of Power Target and GPU temp target, and then dragging the temp target to zero? What I think is happening right now is Precision giving the GPU more and more power until the temperature reaches 79 C And while yes, those temperatures are still fine and won't kill your GPU, as I said, it starts to slow down after 70C, not by much, but you should try to avoid it still Here's an example with a GTX680 but it applies to all Kepler core GPUs [editline]17th July 2014[/editline] Oh yeah also everybody on the EVGA forums is complaining about this new Precision release being buggy and broken, you might want to use the older 4.2.1 version instead, or MSI Afterburner which is essentially the same, it doesn't matter if your card isn't MSI
I know prebuilts are never up to snuff compared to assembling a PC from parts yourself but I just want a tower capable of running Team Fortress 2 again. I have a friend who can order one of these from walmart's website and can make use of his employee discount to get it for 10% off the price listed. Which one would you guys recommend? I'm not terribly knowledgeable about GPUs.
Doesn't it always? :v: What about Spleunky or Battleblock? Again sorry I'm not terribly knowledgeable with parts
The problem with the PCs you've chosen is they both don't include a discrete graphics card; they both use the ones integrated into the CPU. I could put together a build for you for about the same price.

My problem is I'm worried I might botch putting it together
