http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PypVmG This'll be WAY better equipped for your situation. Even if you don't do any of the promos or rebates, it'll only be about $20 more than the ones you posted. And to do with the building of it, there's really no way you can botch it up; all the components are made to only fit in a certain way and they all come with loads of documentation.
man now I'm uncertain, if I order all of the parts separate I'd have to wait for individual parts to come in. But those towers aren't so hot. I'm probably overthinking all of this and making far more difficult than needed.

I've been thinking of buying a new monitor to replace my old broken one so I can finally get up and running with two monitors again. the problem is that I'm not sure what to buy as I'm torn between either a 1440p screen or a 1080p @ 120hz screen. on one hand, I already kind of know what to expect from a 1440p screen. the resolution is higher, more workspace, etc. when it comes to a 120hz screen though, I'm not entirely sure what to expect. I've never seen anything above 75hz, so the double of 60hz which I already think is silky smooth sounds like a massive improvement in terms of image quality in games. I keep running into people who say "120hz is just a gimmick" and that kind of stuff, then you got the other end who keeps saying how 120hz is so great they'd never be able to go back to 60hz. I wish I could go for a 1440p screen @ 120hz, but as far as I know, only monitors with TN panel got those specs so far. to be honest, I've never really looked too much at the panel type when I've ordered monitors in the past, so yet again, I'm not sure if TN is as bad as everyone says, or if I'm just hearing that from the equivalent of audiophiles in the monitor arena.
Does anybody know some good... dunno... I call it "Web File Manager"? I want a WCM just for uploading, renaming and deleting files on my Webserver within my browser. Somebody knows something good? (Doesn't matter if it is written in PHP, Python, Ruby etc.)
to add onto my previous post, I found the Asus VG248QE. looks like a great high hz monitor, but it is a TN panel. not sure if that'll stop me or not as I've yet to see an educated post/video/comment about why IPS supposedly is so much better than TN. from the little I know, both TN and IPS have their strengths and weaknesses. I'd prefer 22'' or a 24'' inch monitor as my current one (T2200HD) is 22''. I actually can't find any 1440p monitors at this size, so I'm starting to lean towards investing in a high hz monitor instead as I don't want to have two noticeably different sized screens next to each other. [editline]17th July 2014[/editline] could also finally try out nvidia 3D. is it worth the $200 it costs?

To get a high quality IPS eoth low response time for gaming is quite expensive. Newer TN panels are far better than their older counterparts amd are perfectly acceptable for gaming imo.
I need a free (or relatively cheap [as in it doesn't cost a thousand dollars and has no subscription]) alternative to After Effects that isn't Blender. It doesn't need to be fancy because I'm not doing anything involving post processing or heavy visual effects, but it needs to support rendering of images sequences on top of whatever AV codecs it supports. It would be nice if it had an open license/was unlicensed, but that isn't necessary. I can't find much on the internet that isn't sketch or unsuitable after quite a few hours of searching, so I came here as a last resort. P.S. Fuck Adobe and fuck subscription-based software.
I'm about to make a purchase on some cheap-ass RAM for my old Lenovo machine I want to put back into good use. The computer itself is a Lenovo ThinkCentre m55 with 1GB DDR2 RAM and a Core 2 Duo E6400. I want to upgrade the RAM a bit to keep up with it's new Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit install(the thing came with XP Pro). With 1GB of RAM, the thing is always accessing the page file, sometimes even when idling. That's why I've decided to buy 2 cheap ass 2GB DDR2 sticks for the machine to give it a kick(and perhaps save it's hard drive from a disgusting fate). I went onto Lenovo's site for the machine. Here it is here. The RAM I'm planning on buying is here. I'm just posting here for a quick look over confirmation that these sticks will work with this machine. I'm thinking they will, but just want a second opinion. Also, I know this is a bit squashed in, but I want to know any simple low-profile graphics cards that will work with this machine that aren't COMPLETE bollocks. I don't expect any gaming going on here, just the Intel GMA 3000 is a bit dunk and would be a bit nice if it could be replaced.
I know prebuilts are never up to snuff compared to assembling a PC from parts yourself but I just want a tower capable of running Team Fortress 2 again. I have a friend who can order one of these from walmart's website and can make use of his employee discount to get it for 10% off the price listed. Which one would you guys recommend? I'm not terribly knowledgeable about GPUs. Just spent £315 on a GTX770 and a new 750w corsair modular psu, upgrade from 500w ocz psu and gtx 560ti I hope this was a good purchase
That seems like a great price, where did you buy them?
Amazon, and that's including next day delivery. Really happy with the price. It's not even a cheapy reference card either, it's the ~Asus GTX 770 Nvidia GeForce DirectCU II OC~
They're $330 right now here in the States... I know I need a new graphics card, but I just don't want to spend that kind of money right now...
Question How many monitors would my computer support? I'm running a Z87-Pro motherboard, with a gtx 460 as the graphics card. The card has two dvi ports which are both currently in use, but there is a third port for another display, I think it may be a mini-display, idk

Only select AMD cards support that, afaik.

If you plug in 2 through DVI, and stick a third in via HDMI, the one connected last won't be recognized, but it'll work through DP. Last time I checked, an active adapter for DisplayPort to dual-link DVI costs a considerable sum of money though. Maybe they've dropped down in price now.
This is why I like my 680. 4 monitors ftw with no adapters

My triple monitor setup on my 6850 is: One DVI monitor One VGA monitor using a DVI-A to VGA adapter One VGA monitor using DisplayPort to VGA Works out great because they are all old 1280x1024 monitors.
Okay, apparently it's a Mini-HDMI, which for some fucking reason the Mini-HDMI-to-HDMI Adapter did not come in the package when I bought it years ago
How should I gauge when to buy a new CPU? I'm upgrading my mobo so I figured maybe I should upgrade my CPU as well, as I've had this one for 4 years and I've been having some multitasking speed issues, but I don't really have any major issues with it. I don't want to fix what's not broken, but a new, improved CPU is tempting.

GTX 770 or 144hz monitor?
GTX 770 or 144hz monitor?
depends on which GPU you already have. if whatever you currently have would be able to push 120+ FPS, then I'd ho for the screen. if not, I'd go for the GPU

Question: Need to secure format some flash storage (2GB), what's the best utility to do this that doesn't cost? Preferably one that either scrambles data or zero-writes it.
What cpu/mobo do you have now?
Right now I'm on an AMD Phenom II X4 965 and an ASUS M4A785-M mobo. The mobo doesn't support SATA III, so I was going to get an MSI 970A-646 (I couldn't really decide on one, this is the one my friend has, it has everything I need and he says it's reliable) and maybe an AMD FX-6350.
so someone has offered me another grocery list of PC parts, I'd like a second opinion on these and whether or not this shit will all fit together. This should be a mid-range PC and be capable of playing the games I want. http://pastebin.com/2pczpcC0 Sorry for the stupid questions, I don't know how to computer very well :downs:
