What's your guys' thing on posting about laptop help threads? "X vs Y vs Z" in the context of going out to buy one of them. I don't see a whole lot/any around here, and I'm not exactly building a PC so I can't much use the PC Building subforum anymore. Tom's Hardware is great for building a PC, but it's very difficult to sift through the laptop section for the quality comments. Would asking FP for opinions be aight?
Yeah. Here would be fine. The PC building subforum also qualifies for this. Plenty of people have asked there
Is this a good computer http://www.elgiganten.se/product/datorer-tillbehor/stationar-dator/LE57322409/lenovo-ideacentre-h530-stationar-dator?
so i get a sort of font blurring on my pc im not even sure if itll show you the font blurring in the screenshot, because its in a different area than the source, but ill try basically, any font on my pc will blur in certain areas (in the pic, the first "Game" on all the lines is blurred, in the source, the last "Game" on all the lines is blurred) it seems to be just fonts, not pixels in general any suggestions? [editline]23rd July 2014[/editline] maybe it is the pixels, but idk how i could tell this is really bugging me
For ~800 USD you can do a little better were you to build your own, but I'm not sure how available parts are in Sweden
For 800 he could do significantly better, assuming Sweden has similarly priced parts.
Also the processor isn't -that- good, its basically a mid-tier almost mediocre one
Well, it doesn't even say that model i5 it is, so it's hard to say. If it's low end i5, then yeah, sure. But if it's a high end i5 then it'd be fine. But the graphics card is still a hunk of junk, so it's mostly irrelevant.

The only desktop dual core Haswell i5's intel makes are Ultra low power ones. Lenovo's official specs on the model list it as being a quad core i5 4440 @ ~3 Ghz. So not a bad processor. Agreed on the GPU though. Don't know why they even included it at all.

(I think it's somewhere a bit below 3ghz for stock and it would be stupid to make the turbo only to 3.1)
friend suggested opening up a picture of a rainbow fullscreen and hitting the auto key on the monitor. that worked. apparently it has something to do with the vga connection.
For good measure you could run through the cleartype setup
For good measure you could run through the cleartype setup
did that before hand and it didnt help at all problem is solved tho, so its all good
I know peeps like to rag on CompTIA but a lot of companies in my area take them seriously, so I am taking my A+ certification test in less than 2 weeks. After that I am going to take my Network+. I am considering a Vendor Cert track like MCSA/MCSE: Infrastructure- Does that seem like a good direction to go certification wise? EDIT: Networking is super interesting to me. Server room pics make me droooool.
any idea what these things are? they update at random while using a webpage [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/udBbMd.gif[/t] I'd think it was the GPU, but the temperatures are all fine at 50c~. it's a 780Ti, fairly new too so I doubt that's failing

Just in case you should go through the usual update drivers/check gpu routine.

[editline]24th July 2014[/editline] that would be the case if his problem was the monitor, but he should be able to capture GPU artifacting.
I get graphics artifacts too sometimes despite having a relatively cool GPU and a supposedly good PSU. Is it a sign of bad shit coming or does it just happen to everyone sometimes?
Check the card in a computer that doesn't have these problems? [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] it could just be a bad card

I want to work on enterprise level networks at some point, but if I can even get an entry-level IT job at a high school where I mostly do help desk stuff and work on hardware, I'll be happy to have the experience in the short term. I really like the Server 2012 environment. I have been learning AD, DNS, and DHCP configuration in VirtualBox. I guess I will have to decide if I want an MCSE based on what people are using in my area. I may look into Server+, it is on some the listings I've seen.

I'm working at a local repair shop that also does networking/servers for small and medium businesses. I'm looking between server infrastructure and cloud though. The toughest part of the server+ for me is learning Comptia's troubleshooting because their way is not the way it works in real life

I don't have any experience other than fixing actual computers of family and friends, and so the goal for me is to get my foot in the door ANYWHERE. There is a lot of stuff on the A+ about legacy hardware I have never even seen, but I think more than anything it's just meant to show aptitude for this kind of work. You are very fortunate to have that position, I will continue doing stuff for my church and anyone who will let me work for them until I get my first actual position somewhere.

I was lucky enough to get a job and as much as I complain about it, it's still experience. Funny though, the only reason I even applied is because they are right next to the UPS store and I saw the hiring sign as I was RMA'ing a motherboard.
whats the absolute cheapest laptop i could get away with putting an ssd in and ending up with a really zippy computer for school/work and maybe some css [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] id like to find one and then go looking for it to find some scuffed up floor sample

Before checking other devices/cables, just reseat your gpu (if you haven't already). My friends gpu wasn't seated properly when he bought it and it had some similar issues.
I'm planning on upgrading my Desktop in a few months (when I get money). I already have a GTX 460 768Mb. Are there any good GPUs under $200 that I can SLI with my current one to get a good framerate at higher settings? I'm hoping to play Battlefield 4 and Far Cry 3, and they aren't very enjoyable at low quality at 30 fps.

I'd suggest saving up ~$230 for a 760. Or you can find an r9 270 in budget. It would help loads with BF4 due to mantle but not in FC3. (Still significantly better than your current though. Peformance lies between a 660 and 760)
really? I thought that you could as long as it was two GTX cards. Guess I'll have to up the price range then
AMD cards are a bit more lenient IIRC, they just need to be the same series. However, at this point, it would be more cost effective to just upgrade to a new card that is twice as powerful with one GPU.
