Funny how we had the same question and the same cards...

I have these lined up for purchase now.
What's the best way to transfer windows to a new hard drive?
This one is dying

You could clone the drive with some sort of program. I've heard good things about DriveImageXML. Basically, you use it to create a copy of your entire hard drive, and then boot off a live CD and use that copy to image the new drive. After that, you pull out the old one, put in the new one, and you're back to work.
I use acronis for all my cloning needs.
Are there any programs out there that allow me to set certain applications or games to launch in high priority mode right off the bat? I know I can easily tab out of a game, open task manager, set the .exe to high priority, and tab back in. But some games don't handle alt+tabbing well and end up crashing when I try to switch back in, and I don't like to run games in windowed mode/borderless windowed mode either. Radeon Pro has the option to force games to launch in high priority, but for some reason, using it also forces Source Engine games to run in safe mode/insecure mode/whatever it's called and disables multiplayer and achievements, so I'd prefer not to use that.

Supposedly, you can enter:
start /high <command>
To launch processes in high priority. I had to this when playing Source games on my Pentium III a few years ago, and did fix most performance issues.

Bit of a dumb follow-up question, but does this go in the command prompt or the "Run..." window? I almost never use the command prompt and my efforts so far have given me nothing but errors because every line starts with C:\Users\George or C:\Windows\system32 if I run it as an admin.
[editline]25th July 2014[/editline]
And I'd still appreciate it greatly if someone found a program that does this for me automatically, just to make things a little easier. Just something where you have a list of all of your .exe files, whether they're running or not, and have it set up so that when certain ones are launched, they get put in high priority mode immediately.
I've put my old ASUS Radeon HD 6670 on sale, but I started wondering if asking 40 euros for it is a bit too much.
What is a 2 year old 6670 worth these days? The card can still perform very decent in Source games, and can handle the Metro games on medium with 30 FPS by average.

The only thing I could find that did this was a DLL that loaded itself into Task Manager, and it made the Task Manager a crashy piece of shit so I had to stop using it.

Use a shortcut. After reading, I realize I left out a lot.
For the target of the shorcut, enter:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start "runhigh" /high "Path to your program here"

Oh, that makes a lot more sense. Thanks.

Well, I just tested it out with BioShock Infinite, and when I tabbed out to ensure that it was working, task manager said the game was still being run in normal priority instead of high priority. I'm pretty sure I did everything right, edited the target of the shortcut and linked it to the .exe where appropriate, but I don't think it worked.
What's the best drive imaging backup software that will backup on a schedule or whenever something changes to an external HDD?
Currently between acronis and Paragon right now, but they seem pretty even in reviews.
So you're on a website and click a link from a list of links. The website is set up so that if one of the links on this list it opens in a new tab. This is good.
However, if I click on another link on the list the page somehow redirects the other tab. This annoys the crap out of me because I use tabs extensively and by defult once I've opened all of the pages I want bar one I just click on the final link I want so the page loads the final link, instead however it redirects on of my already open tabs.
Is there a way of disabling pages from being able to redirect other pages through about:config in Firefox? I also see this feature could be easily abused. I tried searching for a solution but I don't have a name for this thing.

If the game has several executables (like it has a launcher ) it won't work. It will only launch the process you link to in high priority. Try finding the actual game executable and launch that. Otherwise, your sol.

If your really needing to run games in high priority to get good performance, you may want to consider upgrading at some point in the future, since it really shouldn't be necessary.
How would two Gtx 670 in SLI fare against a Gtx 780ti?
How would two Gtx 670 in SLI fare against a Gtx 780ti?
Badly. Just looking at raw power, two 670s won't match up to a 780 Ti (2x7 SMX vs 15 SMX), and that's before you get into the SLI inefficiency or memory decrease.
I still don't understand why dual 670's are so unbelievable common.
because at one point they were a popular card
what i don't get is how the 570 scales better in SLI
What temps for CPU and GPU should I start worrying at?
The highest temps I've gotten my GPU to go is 71c under heavy load.
CPU, 64c under load.

For long term, 80+ C is something you want to avoid. Those temps should be fine though.

I always like to stay below 80C. Anything below that and you're good.
71C definitely isn't a problem, 64C the same.
I'm getting a new monitor, the ASUS VN247H, which is a 75Hz screen but it only comes with a cable that supports 1080p@60Hz.
My question is, what kind of a HDMI cable would I need to get the full 75Hz on 1080p?
I'm kinda new to HDMI cables and I'm seeing HDMI 1.4 cables with the price for €3,- and 1.4 cables for €20,-, should I just go for the cheapest?
Edit: I've found a HDMI cable labeled as "HIGH SPEED HDMI CABLE", I assume this is good enough to display 1920x1080@75Hz?
I need a recommendation for RAM disk software. Requirements:
- Must not preallocate RAM. Even if the disk is set to be a full GB in size, if I only have 100MB of stuff, it should only use about 100MB of RAM (overhead is OK if it's not ridiculous)
- Must run and mount disks on boot (system boot preferred, user login also acceptable).
- Must provide the ability not to save the disk to an image. If my disk isn't volatile it defeats the point of having it.
- In addition to above, must not require me to format the disk every time it starts up.
Additional features I'd really like:
- Ability to set persistent drive label.
- Backed by pagefile in low-memory situations.
Is there anything I should know before opening up my tower and taking a look inside? I've been having serious issues with graphics driver crashes, and I'm beginning to suspect that it's a hardware rather than software problem.
I don't trust absolutely no experience in handling hardware and don't trust my own common sense when it comes to this kind of stuff, could anybody give me some pointers on what I should do here? I plan on just reseating the card and maybe cleaning up, if necessary.
"Clean, dry hands" is honestly all I can think of.
You probably also want an anti-static bracelet on if you have one.
Can anyone suggest a data copying program? Currently using unstoppable copy, and it's slow as balls. It needs to be as resilient to errors as unstoppable is. Also copying up to network is 90% of usage, so that speed is the most important. Portable version is a must as well. Free however is not a must, but is preferred.
you don't need an anti-static bracelet. just ground yourself with the metal chassis of your case and go ahead. make sure you plug everything out and hit the power button a few times beforehand

I hear people suggest Teracopy. I've never used it though.

+1 for Teracopy. Used it to move Win8 onto my SSD and it worked great.
I just kinda noticed something odd, I've recently re-hooked my second monitor up to my laptop, and as of this logon, firefox's rendering has hone all wonky, if I have two firefox windows open, the one on my main screen bleeds over slightly, and for some reason, my taskbar renders behind it, making me have to hit the windows key to have it become visible.
Can anyone recommend a decent, cheap mouse?
