Can anyone recommend a decent, cheap mouse?
If you need a cheap mouse, I can recommend a Logitech B100. Its basically a white box special I got at a local computer store for $8. No frills, just a 3 button mouse with a scroll wheel and optical sensor. But its comfortable and doesn't feel super cheap and it tracks nicely.
I adopted a cat and she's beautiful

And I found an old webcam lying around. I want to setup a streaming website which I can access anywhere. I've got no experience with apache so I know shit all about setting up an http server. I do want to know how though, but are there any easier options? I just want to be able to watch over her live. Better if I could watch it though my android tablet/windows phone. Thanks in advance!
Hmm. I'll have to look into teracopy. By biggest problem with most programs is that they'll stop or pause if they hit a corrupt file or something with insufficient permissions when I just need it to keep moving. We have 5+ drives moving up to our storage server a day and a lot of them are failing drives
I need a recommendation for RAM disk software. Requirements:
- Must not preallocate RAM. Even if the disk is set to be a full GB in size, if I only have 100MB of stuff, it should only use about 100MB of RAM (overhead is OK if it's not ridiculous)
- Must run and mount disks on boot (system boot preferred, user login also acceptable).
- Must provide the ability not to save the disk to an image. If my disk isn't volatile it defeats the point of having it.
- In addition to above, must not require me to format the disk every time it starts up.
Additional features I'd really like:
- Ability to set persistent drive label.
- Backed by pagefile in low-memory situations.
I highlighted the contractions for you.
I highlighted the contractions for you.
I'm actually kind of wondering if he wants his RAM to act like... RAM. Most of the reasons people use a RAMdisk are to get away from those things.
Looks like TeraCopy is the winner. Will retry a corrupted file a few times then skip it, and display at end. Also is almost twice as fast at network copy than unstoppable, which will be a massive boon as data backup is probably our biggest bottleneck at work. Only 19.95 too! Thanks all.
I highlighted the contractions for you.
I found one program where none of those are contradictions, except it preallocates the RAM which is not OK. (Also its driver causes bluescreens)
You're also behaving as if I said an initial image containing an empty filesystem is somehow taboo, which if you employed common fucking sense you would know it very well isn't. I just don't want it to save any actual files in the image.
(Also since you missed it the first time - the drive label and pagefile backing are optional objectives)

I want this RAMdisk because Windows has no sane temporary files directory, and no reasonable way to clear the contents on every shutdown. The contents being in RAM just make it easier to clear on shutdown.
In Linux, not only is this possible, it's extremely easy: just add one line to /etc/fstab:
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid,size=2G 0 0
And honestly, if I didn't need Windows for so many things, I would have dropped it ages ago. Sadly though, I need Windows, so I need a way to make it not skullbendingly retarded.
Is there a hope for this computer http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?e=402773. Which components can I upgrade?

Just run a batch file to remove stuff in the temp folder or something like that?
New PC time due to my laptop dying. Getting a desktop this time as they're more reliable. Pretty sure I want one of those new fancy Devil's Canyon i7s, just basically picking a graphics card.
One of my friends has a GTX 770 and swears by it
another has a GTX 780 and swears by it. 770 guy claims a 780 will be overkill, 780 guy says go for the 780. Money isn't REALLY an issue as I have a new PC fund that can buy either card but I don't want to be going mega overkill for no good reason. PC will be used for single monitor (at the moment) gaming at 1080p and I'd love to max everything with all the AA up and stuff. Looking at benchmarks doesn't help me much because I prefer real experiences and not just fancy numbers.
What do you think?
Okay, I got my Asus VN247H in and connected it with the "High Speed HDMI" cable.
The screen is adverted as a 75Hz screen but if I want to select 75Hz it switched over to 1280x1024 and if I switch back to 1920x1080 it goes to 60Hz, is this fixable?
Pretty sure it's because your monitor doesn't support 1080p 75hz.

Actually, I read your previous post just now. You can write custom profiles in the nvidia control panel or use something called powerstrip if you're on ati.

A GTX 770 is all you need for maxing out your games at 1080p and 60FPS. The 780 and 780 Ti are more oriented towards playing games at higher resolutions or higher framerates - the 770 guy is right about the 780 being overkill for the stuff you're trying to do. Also, you should pick up an i5 4690K and not an i7 4790K unless you do lots of encoding and video editing, because games don't benefit from the hyperthreading that i7 processors offer.

Is it safe, since it isn't possible by default?

Not entirely sure myself, normally I'd be glad to look it up for you but I need to get to sleep. Ciao.

Been reading through about apache and it doesn't seem that hard. Worst part is going to be finding a driver to my webcam for linux. Although I could theoretically setup a windows based apache sever. Hmm

Ok, easier than I thought, I'll go with justin.tv.

Honestly it looks really really awful. An AMD A8 with an nvidia dGPU WORSE than the onboard, therefore negating any benefit of the APU.

Yes, it's safe, there isn't any way to hurt your monitor. You may even be able to go beyond 75hz.
What happens if it isn't supported is the screen will stay black, say "Out of Range," or "Not Supported," etc. and you just wait for the "Did This Shit Work, Yo?" timer to run out instead of clicking yes and it'll revert back to the previous resolution.
What does FP thing of this external radiator? (It can house a large reservoir at the bottom, also!)
Yes, external, and no, I am not crazy.
Came out a couple of years ago, called the AquaComputer Airplex GIGANT. There's a 1 metre tall one and a half metre tall version. Just a giant external radiator which you can mount a reservoir inside and basically passively cool a whole gaming PC, and it looks pretty decent too. I'm also thinking of rigging up some covers on the heatsink sides for the outside (some nice matte black aluminium panels) and popping a fan in the top to help the radiator's airflow. The reservoir will be sitting at the bottom of it, with a pump. I'm thinking about having an air-tight PC because where I live corrosion is annoying as fuck, and I really don't like cleaning, I'd prefer to air blast some heat sinks and preferably have no fans. The large one of these radiators can apparently cool 10kw of power, not exactly sure on the details of that in rl scenarios, it's all nerd shit to me. But I'm looking at making this just a little tower on my desk, and keeping my PC under my desk. One downside is that it costs a kidney to get.

With a little work, it can look sleek as fuck and non-intrusive. (The small version, not the monstrosity version). Seems pretty good, except for the price.
Is amds processors bad?
Short answer: No.
Is amds processors bad?
If you're buying CPU's on the cheap, they're great. If you want high end, go intel. They have the upper hand at the moment with high end CPU's.
Is amds processors bad?
Bad? No. Is Intel better? Yes.
Sorry for asking so many questions but I really want a better computer.

You keep linking PCs and just ask "is this good?"
You have to give us info so we can help. I went back like four pages and didn't see anything.
What's your budget?
What do you plan to do on your PC?
Please link to better components that I can upgrade.
You can upgrade any component in a computer, I'm not really sure what you're trying to ask.
I'm going to return my HP Pavilion 15-n203ed due to a temperature issue (thing got 120 degrees Celcius) and I may have to get a Toshiba laptop with almost the same specs (TOSHIBA Satellite S50D-A-10L).
I've heard many bad things about HP's cooling, especially with laptops. Is Toshiba any better?
Also what is your current computer. Or at least what is your cpu/gpu.
my automerge :v:

Honestly, at this point you're better off scrapping the whole thing. Everything you can upgrade is limited by something else you can't upgrade.
You can't really upgrade the video card. The 540 Slim requires low-profile addon cards, and they just don't make any good video cards like that. The most powerful one I can find is the GeForce 740, which is so weak you can't even find good benchmarks to see how weak it is.
You can't upgrade the CPU much - any modern one requires a new motherboard, and buying a higher-end one old enough to be compatible is a waste of money. A Core 2 Quad might work, but it also draws a lot more power and heat, which probably won't work.
You might be able to toss a bit more RAM in there (DDR2 is expensive as hell these days though), and maybe an SSD. But the RAM won't buy you much, and the SSD won't improve performance, just responsiveness. Which might be enough if you're not looking to actually run intense stuff, and just want a faster office/student machine.
Edit:
Wait, is that the computer you currently have, or the computer you're thinking about buying? Because if it's the latter, holy shit, almost any other computer would be better than that.
That desktop is about on par with a laptop I had back in high school. The laptop that replaced that laptop is now itself nearly due for replacement. That desktop is old as shit.

I think it'd be better if you just gave us a budget and purpose, then we could find a good computer rather than you finding and asking us if it's good or not.
