Also, does it matter that I'm using an SLI card on a non-SLI compatible mobo? I'll just be using the single card
Nope
I want to do some hacky-wacky here to save some money. I have the original PS3 controller here that came with our unit the day we bought it. Which means its pretty old and the battery isn't too great anymore. I have a 1200mAh Samsung battery laying around, and the original battery is 640mAh and is at 3.7 volts, so is the phone battery. But can I take off the connector and solder it to the contacts of the phone battery? [T]http://i.imgur.com/PGvp20n.jpg[/T] This might not be the absolutely best section but I think its close enough.

I'm sure you could even plug it straight into a phone charger if you so desire, it shouldn't be much more complicated than getting the right poles connected
The preview is coming out next month At that rate, definately won't be in preview for over a year Probably Q2
Jesus, that's a lot faster than I expected. Did they start working on it as soon as 8.1 was put out?
Jesus, that's a lot faster than I expected. Did they start working on it as soon as 8.1 was put out?
Probably I know that some of these OS features (eg the start menu) have been worked on and were meant to be apart of 8.1#2 So they have been working on it for a decent amount of time. Although things might go a bit slower after all those lay-offs recently [editline]19th August 2014[/editline] [t]http://5crat.ch/a/1s9p[/t] Anyone know how to remove English Simplified? Doesn't show up on my language list...
I thought almost all those layoffs were in the phone department?

So my mouse wheel skips a lot when I'm scrolling. Like when I'm browsing LMAO it goes all over the fucking place and then I have to scroll back and it skips again and I can't get anywhere. I was wondering if its a dirt problem or if the mouse is gone. It isn't all that old. It's a logitech performance MX mouse.
Hey, i have a little question, i have began on a university, and i need to have a lot of the adobe products, Photoshop, lightroom, illustrator etc. And my question is; If i already have cs6 on all of these products, should i still upgrade to creative cloud? Am i missing out on a lot if i just continue to use cs6? I don't have so much money, so if i can avoid paying an extra 30euro in the month that would be great :p I just want to know if it really would be worth it.
You wont be missing much actually. Unless there's a important feature that they want you to use that's really new, which I don't see very likely
all youtube videos, on FP, tumblr, etc have started autoplaying starting today. I thought it was just a thing on my other PC, but now I"m on my laptop and it's happening again... no idea what could be the cause. Any ideas? [editline]19th August 2014[/editline] it appears to be youtube's htmlplayer making vids play automatically, anyone else using the html5 player have this problem?
I'm having the same problem as Shadaez with embedded youtube videos auto playing on their own and it's really annoying especially when browsing facepunch. It also seems to be a chrome problem cause it doesn't happen on firefox or IE.
I got a question. YouTube is autoplaying embedded videos on any web page I go to. It just starts playing every single YouTube video on that page. How do I disable this? I already went into chrome://chrome/settings/content and set the Plug Ins to Click to Play, but that's not solving it.
Oh, nevermind. It's the Chromecast extension.
Paul from Google Chrome here. We're aware of the situation and the Chromecast extension team is working with Youtube right now on a resolution. Update (12:33 ET): The word just came in: "The YouTube team confirmed that there was a bad push yesterday which caused this issue to be triggered. There is a fix being qualified and that is scheduled to be pushed today that will correct this issue." from http://crbug.com/404943[1] Thanks guys for holding in there.
thanks for the tipz [editline]19th August 2014[/editline] yesterday when it started i was freaking out because i was on tumblrs homepage and music was playing even after i refreshed and i was very confused
So I'm thinking about getting a new computer of a way smaller form factor. (Like the Zeus Mini from CyberpowerPC, Alienware x51, or ibuypower revolt, those ones) I'm about to be in college so obviously I'm going to pocket very little of my work money, so selling my current build on ebay looks like a nice way to fund my hypothetical venture. So the question is, is it more profitable to sell parts, or a whole pc on ebay?
I ran mbam on my laptop which has a shit load of viruses on it, but access to the C: drive is not allowed. Any ideas on what other malware finders I can run in order to clean this computer up?
Adwcleaner and hitman are good ones
Adwcleaner and hitman are good ones
Ok I am downloading those now. Do you think that it would be safe to connect the laptop to my home network? I need to update the databases.
What's stopping you from booting a Linux Live CD and wiping the drive, then reinstalling Windows? That's always my main recovery tactic when I'm not worried about losing anything. At least that way, you're sure nothing can sneak through and hang around.

Back up whatever you can, SANITIZE THE FUCK OUT OF THE BACKUPS, then format the hard drive and reinstall from scratch.
Got some get general questions about planning a build, didn't want to create a thread. Come December (maybe sooner) I might have around £1500 saved up for a build. Was Lookin at the Gigabyte Windforce 760 TI and was thinking, with the 8 series around the corner, is it worth even looking right now? That and is £1500 reasonable for a system to support such a card anyway? I'd be going for an i7 too - I'm not being a snob or fanboy, I need the advantages of Nvidea and Intel systems for their multi-media and rendering capabilities. Besides my i7, 765M equipped laptop that I bought in October last year the last system I had was a scrambled together 9600 GSO, generic intel quad core, 4gb ddr2 system that is blown out the water by my laptop, so I'm due a new tower. Some people may be thinking "well the laptop is powerful enough, why by a tower?" Well to my knowledge, Laptops have a much shorter lifespan and seen as mine is on almost 24/7, I'm hindering it's chances of lasting anymore than 2 years. [editline]20th August 2014[/editline] That and what's FP's opinion on UK sellers and builders? My Laptop is PCSpecialist but they don't seem to do Gigabyte hardware so I'm thinking I might well have to go the DIY route with this.

My Laptop is PCSpecialist but they don't seem to do Gigabyte hardware so I'm thinking I might well have to go the DIY route with this.
For the sake of getting idea of what your budget would be looking like, I made a really quick build. Looks like you can get a 780 if the budget includes a monitor, and a 780ti if it doesn't. Since you're looking at December, the 800 series would be out so you can fit an 880 easy.
Will the 8 series cost the same as what the 7 series is now and the 7 series drop? I haven't even looked at monitors, I'm not really interested in anything more than 1080p. Well maybe, depending in the price but I'm certainly not interested in 4K at the moment. How much does your bog standard 20" (or thereabouts) widescreen monitor usually cost? [editline]20th August 2014[/editline] Also I'm hoping to get Gigabyte branded stuff, mainly motherboard for future proofing and a windforce GPU as I've read that they're pretty much silent while still keeping the card cool. That and I really like the aesthetics of Gigabyte's products.
Just a touch more for the Gigabyte 780. I put a motherboard from them in there. The 800 series will be a bit more than what the 700 is at now, as the 700 has already dropped with time. It'll just be up to you at that point on what deals and performance you're looking for. As for monitors, your realistic options are 1080p@60hz (~100-125), 1080p@120/144hz (~200), or 1440p@60hz (~350-400). The 1440p@60hz barely fits in budget depending on choices, but it's all up to what's most important to you.
Well I put up with sub-24fps for god knows how long on older machines I used to have and I find games perfectly playable at 30-40fps so I wouldn't be going for anything with a higher than 60Hz refresh rate. Even if the card can handle games higher than that, I don't see the need for ultra high refresh rates - the exception being active shutter 3D systems of course but I couldn't give a monkeys about 3D. Thanks for your help, I'll make sure to report back closer to the time! Best get that savings account set-up..
I imagine you have all experienced the point were headphone cables require a small but constant pressure to work properly, to get both channels and full audio. I am using the Pioneer SE-DJ5000, my favourite headphones to date but I cannot stand this and I am making it worse. Is there actually a way to fix this issue without cabling knowledge? [IMG]http://www.pioneer-latin.com/downloads/se-dj5000.jpg[/IMG
I remember reading about a thing that you can clip on the headphones that forces you to adjust the length on both sides but it won't have such an high pressure on your ears. I wanted to do that on my Fostex headphones but I forgot how it's called and gave up after all the pain, that's why I'm using the Sony MDR-XD200 for pretty much anything at the moment. Anyway I wanted to ask if the AMD Athlon II X4 will work on an AM2+ Socket? I've googled around and some sites say I might need to update the bios (which would not be a problem to me), some say it won't even get past the post screen, some even say I need to upgrade my ram for some stupid reason. [editline]20th August 2014[/editline] Headband padding, that's how that thing is called.

Like for it to transmit the full audio from both channels I have to apply pressure in a certain direction. It seems to be the doom for all my headphones/3.5mm cables eventually.
Yes it will. My first gaming rig was an Athlon II X4 630 in an AM2+ motherboard. That processor series has both DDR2 and DDR3 controllers so it will worth in either type. Just make sure the BIOS is up to date and reset the CMOS settings to prevent any weirdness.
