Its not a horrible system but the GPU is pretty much worthless. A GeForce GT 705 is just barely better than an Intel iGPU. Actually it might be worse given the circumstance. It would be able to play Gmod at about medium if you lowered the resolution, but that's not exactly setting a high standard.

It's worse. A gt610 has less than half the pass mark score of Intel hd4600. Not 100% the same as gaming performance, but certainly shows something. Not as bad as HP's rig with an a8 apu and 705 though
How would one use both a wired (ethernet) connection and a wireless connection simultaneously? Basically I want to do most of my Internet browsing through the Ethernet connection, but I want to force Windows to only use the wireless connection for specific IPs. How would one do this?

Configure the Windows routing table to indicate such using the route command. Tell it to route traffic to those IPs over the wired interface but all other IPs over wireless. You will definitely want to read how to use the command though either using "route /?" or Microsoft TechNet or other tutorials on the internet as its really easy to screw up. Fortunately, a reboot will fix it. When you are confident that the changes work, use the -p flag so your settings are permanent.
I know this does for a fact work as I've done the reverse of what you want before.
Looking at a first SSD. Was trying to decide between these two:

Not very savvy when it comes to hard drives. If not these two, I would take recommendations. Looking to stay around $100 usd.

am i the only person who really doesn't care all that much for gun skins? And I'm sure as hell not going to pay for any
This is kinda target towards my previous question, but I'll write the details anyway.
Very short: Looking for new laptop for upcoming semesters. Going to be working with Unity, Programming, Image Processing and other likely demanding stuff.
I found a Acer Aspire S3-392G, I would like to know how this is. And especially the NVIDIA GeForce GT735M performance with these applications?
Wow yeah this isn't the CSGO thread, whoops

Yeah, that was our first plan. This is just for the convenience.

back when skins were new and operation payback was a thing i used to get a lot of positive comments on my Tornado M4
i'm pretty passive about gun skins though

ok i didn't realize this wasn't CIPWTTKT so now I'm a dumbass too
So I have a simple NAS server running from 2 Seagate drives.
One is 1 TB, the other 160 GB
Now both of them seem to have a strange issue.
The 1TB drive does a self test like this when powered up:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/nn7jjh2rzuprbhe/broken.wav?dl=0
This started happening after I used this drive in a earlier server setup and was powered on for for a month or four.
Now the other randomly starts slamming its moving head around out of the blue. There isn't any frequency in it, it just happens randomly.
It's very annoying, when I'mabed, in the dim light of the switch and suddenly this fucking drive starts slamming around, while this computer is very quiet for the rest.

I feel kinda stupid for having to ask this but for some reason when I opened up my browser this happened:
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34159811/pics/operaisterrible.jpg[/t]
For reference, this is what Chrome looks like, note the size of the font and the tabs and everything:

Originally, that's what Opera looked like and for some reason now it looks like its running at a lower resolution or something, does anyone know what I must have done? Also how can I fix it? It's a really small issue but it's really bugging me!

You might have accidentally just pressed the zoom key combination (usually Ctrl and + or Ctrl and -) without realizing it, although that wouldn't explain what's going on with your tabs. Go into Opera's settings and make sure you haven't changed the zoom level. The only other thing I can think of to explain it would be a recent update to the browser itself.
Zoom was on its preset of 100% when the issue started (I actually turned it down to 90% so it looks a little bit more "normal"), and it's the only program that has this issue. It worked fine when I used it earlier today, but for some reason now it's displaying stuff like this.

Is there a dpi setting within opera? that what it would look like if it was set to a high dpi.
I need to buy an laptop for school since the computers they have barely even work because when you try to turn them it takes ages to get done with the BIOS shit (around 10 minutes) and then windows7 needs to copy and install a bunch of stuff like some nvidia update even if that computer doesn't even have an nvidia gpu (said intel HD in the system settings) so obviously I'm done with their shitty computers, not to mention that their computers have an i5 so I was expecting something faster than my own fucking computer.
How does this look like? It nothing crazy but I just need to program stuff on it and do typical stuff with it at home like browsing so no real games or anything.

Currently the price doesn't have a limit but I don't think my dad would to buy me an surface pro 3 just for that so a low price would be good.

Opera will obey the Windows DPI settings so its scaling to whatever you have it set to in your display settings. Going by your taskbar, you probably have it set to 125%. Internet Explorer and Firefox will also do the same thing. Chrome for whatever reason, ignores Windows DPI settings.

If you can manage it in the budget, go for an i3 at least. I would avoid a Celeron based system if at all possible, since they are very weak CPU's (that Celeron is about as powerful as my mobile Core 2 Duo, in 2006). An i3 probably isn't going to be much more expensive but have a much longer useful life.
I got a switch "SRW2024" from my computer class because the teacher was gonna recycle it. I don't have a console port on my PC to reset it. Will a USB to Female DB9 work and get me a connection with a terminal?

Problem is it was always displaying more or less like Chrome did at 125% up to earlier this morning, but then it seemed like it almost switched to this on its own fruition. IE and Chrome display similarly to each other, as well as Steam and the rest of the stuff I have, only Opera is screwed up.
I guess my question here is is there any way I can change Opera back without having to change everything else?

I don't use Opera so I don't know. Maybe a recent update?
Ok, so I posted earlier that my audio ports on my mobo weren't working and I did end up getting a new sound card. Through multiple recommendations I got the Asus Xonar DG.
Everything is working well at the moment, but my headset no longer shows up in the playback/recording devices or the volume mixer. Is there any way to fix this?

The headset is working fine otherwise. But it's annoying because I can't use disable my headset to use my speakers and I can't adjust the volume for specific programs.
I've never used a sound card, so I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong or if this is intentional or what.
I'm not familiar with ASUS's software, but all that control may have to be done through their software.

I wouldn't pay that much for a Wireless mouse especially for gaming. That's me personally. You can get a Razer Deathadder for less than half that price which will suit you perfectly for gaming.
Ok I'm making some progress.
I realized certain things (my browsers and LoL at the least) go through the Asus Xonar DG Audio Device -- but some other things (iTunes, not sure what else) I seem to have no control over, it just plays through my headset no matter what. And I don't see any settings to adjust it (in iTunes or Asus'). Like I can mute my browser and iTunes

But still hear iTunes. However it just seems to be iTunes doing this atm. Everything else appears to be working just fine, so I think it's something with iTunes.
My 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD is coming this week so I can finally get rid of that piece of shit WD Green drive that came with my old Gateway DX.
Should I just plug the SSD in alone, then plug the HDD in after I install Windows?

Generally the best practice. Sometimes Windows likes to shit itself and put the MBR on the mechanical
Alright, another question.
I was really impressed with the Macbook Air. We use them at my schoolbut all I really do is play games on it. While it was 768p, it is 85Hz and that's why it feels pretty good to navigate with a good mouse like a Logitech G400s.
I already plan on getting a BenQ 120hz monitor to replace my Gateway 900p monitor.
Is there any good 120hz laptops?

They're very uncommon and will cost you an arm and a leg and one of your kidneys, but the ASUS G750 JH has a 120Hz screen. It's probably a much better deal than the few Alienware laptops that have 120Hz monitors attached to them, to be honest. It's ridiculously overkill for gaming, but I don't think there are any cheaper 120Hz laptops.
[editline]2nd September 2014[/editline]
The specs don't list it on Newegg's website, but according to the product page on ASUS, it has a 120Hz screen.
Man I can't wait anymore
I want my 880 GTX
Any recent news about it?

Referring back to this post, can someone briefly recommend some specs that would outperform this one for the same price or less (£450 ($740))? Preferably somewhere that delivers in the UK.
