Does the disk drive show up in the bios?
Does the disk drive show up in the bios?
I don't know how to check. Apparently it does read discs though, just ass slow, so the drive is definitely connected.
Grabbing a tablet, what's a good one that's not uber expensive or shitty? Bonus points if I can hook a keyboard to it and use Word on it.
The Dell Venue 8 Pro is sometimes cheaper than a Nexus 7. Runs full Windows 8.1, has bluetooth for a keyboard or you can get a USB OTG adapter and attach a regular USB keyboard. It has the full Microsoft Office 2013 preloaded. My dad enjoys the one I got him for his birthday.
Looking to rent a server, just for messing around with some stuff for certs/class and a small TS server of probably 20 people max, any suggestions?
Free license of TS server is 20 slots, best to host one yourself.
Not rent a TS server, rent a VPS or something for some more education related things and having a ts server on the side for when my outfit's main is down.
What is the Thinkpad of cameras? And I would play vidya and go on your TS server if you had one. My current friend's server isn't active as it used to be

Might up to a cheaper model from datashack or chicagovps later on
What is the Thinkpad of cameras? And I would play vidya and go on your TS server if you had one. My current friend's server isn't active as it used to be
The Canon Powershot is usually a pretty solid line. Good features, decent specs, solid build. I've got an S95 on my desk that I use for a lot of my journalist stuff. I think they run right around $300 for the entry level now. Outside of that, digital cameras have really reached a point where it's more about optics than megapixels. Anything from the big 3 would be pretty good right now (Nikon, Canon, and Sony), just pick something that fits your needs. I've also heard decent things about Samsung's unholy Cameraphones, but I'm pretty sure I'd anger the gods of photography if I actually bought one.
Thanks woolio, I've been taking pictures of my dog with my Galaxy S4 and thought: "This bitch would look great with some depth of field and sharpening."
Well, server is up. That's nice. First time not setting one up on a VM or a potato I have in house.
Thanks woolio, I've been taking pictures of my dog with my Galaxy S4 and thought: "This bitch would look great with some depth of field and sharpening."
If proper depth of field is your goal, you won't find it in a point and shoot. Since it's entirely dependent on the physical size of the sensor, you're going to need something like a DSLR or equivalent to get proper DOF. My S95 can get decent DOF, but nothing compared to what you'll get out of a full body camera.
I need to double-check if this GPU: http://tietokonekauppa.fi/product/152760/graphic+card/ASUS/GTX780-DC2OC-3GD5+3072MB+GDDR5+PCI-E+30+384bit+DVI-I+DVI-D+HDMI+DisplayPort+HDCP+active/ Would work on this: PSU is a Corsair CX600M

Im looking at getting a new monitor for gaming. while at Quakecon I noticed some people seemed to have a higher (refresh rate?) on their monitor and as a result made the game a whole lot smoother. any suggestions? would probably be looking to pick up two.
Does anyone know a phone that has: -A good battery life (lol) -Good for browsing the internet -Loads of memory (or the ability to add more via MicroSD) -Good enough to support some decent apps (WhatsApp, Snapchat, 2048) -Not have a horrendous UI/OS -Not the size of a small tablet, not as thin as garrote wire, but with a much bigger screen than an iPhone 4/5 -Not old/outdated -Doesn't require an external application to add files to it, such as the pile of shit that iTunes is iPhone 5 price range

Its screen size is pretty modest compared to its competitors (5"). I can easily pull 2 two days with light usage, it pretty fast, has 16 GB internal and an mSD slot, Sense 6 very nice IMO, hardware is fairly modern, and doesn't require an external application to load things on, since its Android.
If a camera isn't a huge priority, the HTC One M8 is pretty good. Its screen size is pretty modest compared to its competitors (5").
I was about to add "and a semi-decent camera" to it too :v:
I was about to add "and a semi-decent camera" to it too :v:
Fair enough. Its good enough for my needs, but obviously mine do not apply to everyone.
I was about to add "and a semi-decent camera" to it too :v:
lumia icon/930 is good. its a 5" screen, dunno if thats too big for you. camera is 20mp
Fair enough. Unfortunately I despise HTC's UI. Hows the battery life and ease-of-use?
Hmm, I'm liking this. Hows the battery life and ease-of-use?
well, i could probably pull 1.5/2 days on a charge, and it charges up fairly quick. wp8.1 is easy to use once you learn it, because it is very different. idk when official 8.1 comes out for the icon and 930 but I got it through developer preview. i think i've seen it free on a 2 yr too. I'd get a case for it before you get the phone, just because the screen protrudes from the body. if it drops screen down it might not break it but the screen will be against the ground, not the frame.
If it fits the things I just said (and actually does fit them) I don't mind having a phone-quality camera. Unfortunately I despise HTC's UI.
I'm surprised that you don't, as its pretty conservative compared to HTC's past UI's.

If I'm getting "disk write errors" on multiple programs, is this an indication of a failing hard drive?
Does anyone know if I could run a 24-slot tf2 server smoothly on this old netbook I have? 1.33 GHz Intel Atom Z520 1Gb ram
No.
Ok then :c, But what kind of specs should I shoot for? I already have one running on a 2.8ghz pentium 4 with 1gb of ram running on lan only with bots and that one seems to work fine.
If I'm getting "disk write errors" on multiple programs, is this an indication of a failing hard drive?
Run check disk on it, but it could be.
Run check disk on it, but it could be.
By check disk do you mean the "Error checking" tool you can find via right click (on the hard drive) > properities > tools ?
By check disk do you mean the "Error checking" tool you can find via right click (on the hard drive) > properities > tools ?
Pretty much. Just to make sure it's not file system corruption.
