Without a doubt.

Overrides the OS
Don't worry
Make a restore-point / recovery drive though

^Good idea just in case. You shouldn't lose any data though.

I use a hosted network and ICS

My motherboard can receive and transmit for some reason, so can my windows tablet
Also uh, how do I set my Chrome's home page to default? Whenever I launch it, it instantly directs to istartsearch (don't download virtual router pro) even though I've quarantined everything via MBAM.

and thanks Scratch!

"Most Secure Browser"
If they want secure, on launch it should say "Program X attempted to change the following: ..."
and you allow or deny the changes
fuck, that's actually brilliant, why isn't anything actually doing this?

I recall Firefox doing things exactly like that, at least for addons and extensions. Not sure if it does for homepage changes. It's thankfully been a while since anything tried to install some shit in my browser.

Chrome shows you if an addon was installed by software in the appropriate menu, but there's nothing really there stopping them
So apparently the topic of VGA and HDMI cables transferring a 1080p resolution is a hot debate anywhere it is mentioned.
I keep seeing people deny that you can run in 1080p over a VGA connection without a quality loss, scaling, etc. compared to HDMI. Is this true? I've been hooked up to a 1080p monitor displaying at native resolution for as long as I can remember, over a VGA cable.
Is there any truth to "you can't run 1080p over VGA" or are they just inaccurate?

I really don't know. All I know is that I prefer DVI.

VGA is fundamentally an analog connection. You have five main pins - red/green/blue analog, a vertical sync, and a horizontal sync. If you can drive those sync pins at a high enough frequency, and if the monitor can read them at that frequency, you can get any signal you want. Technically, there's nothing stopping you from doing 3840x2160 over VGA - nothing but the electrical issues you'd get from driving the horizontal sync at 150MHz, and having each pixel signal be only a few nanoseconds long. But other than the pesky laws of physics, it would work.
VGA was literally designed for no higher than 640x480. Just doing 1024x768 is already pushing the design.
1080p over VGA is possible. You'll have some quality loss compared to HDMI, definitely. With a good cable it might not be too bad, but HDMI (or really, any digital signal - DVI, DP, whatever) would be an improvement.

DP masterrace.

VGA is probably the highest quality consumer grade analog connection you can get. You can push 1440p over VGA if you wanted to (apparently I have a laptop that can). It just depends on the RAMDAC on the GPU and the monitor itself.
However, the quality is going to vary from the quality of the cables and the connections. It also requires adjusting the signal on the monitor to make sure everything is aligned.
The quality can be comparable, but using digital is just a lot simpler and just about every decent monitor nowadays has it so there's no reason not to.

Paid or free, what antivirus software should I get?
Paid or free, what antivirus software should I get?
ESET best paid
ESET best paid
indeed, nod32 masterrace.
I used to have NOD32 but I noticed my system was running slowly, switched to Avast and it picked up 2 viruses that NOD32 seemed to have missed, used that for a while but then it started conflicting with windows 8.1 when it was first released, removed it and the issue got patched but I just used Windows defender ever since.
I scan occasionally with Malwarebytes to make sure my system is clean but it doesn't run in the background. I'd say my protection is adequate and windows defender isn't too bloaty.

If you don't want to pay for ESET, MBAM + some reputable free AV.
I'm using MBAM/MSE/IObit on Windows with no issue.
IOBit? I always found that to be god awful. At least their run of the mill consumer bloat pack
If I reformat via the W8.1 w/ update1 option... Would I have to input my serial in again or would it be there after and if so can I use my W8 serial for a 8.1 install.

I would imagine no, but have it just in case it asks.
EDIT: And no, you can only use a Win 8 serial with Win 8 installation media.

It's bullshit you can't use 8.1 installation media with an 8 key. It's a fucking service pack for Christ's sake. You've been able to do that for any other Windows OS.

I have no idea why. I mean I know WHY (8 and 8.1 use two different key sets) but I have no idea why they decided to do so.
