Try installing CCCP for video and use MPC with it, and foobar2000 for audio.
Still no luck, MPC crashes with video files too even after installing CCCP. I did install Foobar2000 for music though. I really like it so far.

I tried the one for Windows 7 that you posted and got this error: But after I closed the window, it said that it had successfully installed the codecs. Which hardly made a difference, because WMP still crashed when I tried to load a video. [editline]13th October 2014[/editline] I don't suppose there could be a virus causing this, is there? I haven't done anything recently that might bring one to my system, but a scan might not hurt. I'm gonna run one real quick.
I have a Samsung SyncMaster T220 monitor that's begun flickering. I've had it for quite a few years (about 5-6+?) now, so I'm wondering if it's something going on with the monitor itself. I don't think I'd just all of a sudden be seeing the refresh when I've never seen it before. It doesn't flicker on and off, but rather seems to dim the monitor. It's most prevalent at the top of the monitor and for the most part seems to not happen below the halfway mark. I've double checked all connections for it - power both monitor and outlet side, video in (DVI) both monitor and PC side - and it's still flickering. Ideas, thoughts, things to try?
I got the exact same monitor. Other than check connections I can only guess it's gone faulty.

It's pretty damn powerful once you really get into it.

I went to class and came home (as an aside, my computer and the monitor in question were shut down for the time period) and the monitor has begun buzzing periodically.

Super easy fix if you have basic soldering skills and an ESR meter.

What the hell could be causing my games to stutter? While playing Sonic Generations, sometimes the music will cut out, entire sections of level won't render, or the game will freeze and then continue. When emulating games through Dolphin the same pausing and stuttering happens too. My hard drive is in good health according to Defraggler and nothing else seems to be an issue. So. My current graphics card is a GTS 240 and it's getting kiiiind of old so I figured it's time for an upgrade. What's a good low-mid tier card I can get for relatively cheap?
Emulators are defnitely not the most stablest of things. It's most likely the programs.
That still doesn't explain why my non-emulated games stutter and have loading issues when they didn't before.

When my old laptop overheated, framerates would drop significantly as it throttled back. I noticed your screencap had the CPU at 50C - if that's idle, that's really high.

My buddy had a lot of trouble running Sonic Generations because it refused to recognize his dGPU and ran off of the integrated graphics until he deleted some .ini file and launched the game again.

So.. a friends laptop stopped charging completely. It's not a battery or the charger problem. For some reason unknown, to me, she does not have the original charger and uses an adapter to charge with a charger belonging to another laptop. She was having problems with the adapter for quite some time now - the laptop would charge only under a certain angle, as one side of the adapter is strongly bent. A few days ago, it stopped charging under any kind of angle. Everything seems to be okay with the laptop's charging port, it's not bent or anything. The laptop model is HP Compaq 610. I did find the original charger, but it costs ~8€ + shipping. So my question is.. Does anyone know where I could get my hands on the adapter? I'm guessing it's cheaper than buying the charger. If nobody has an idea, I'll order the charger. Sadly I only have pictures of the adapter, I hope they some help. I kindly thank in advance, to anyone who goes trough the trouble of finding the adapter. It sounds like the actual DC jack might have broken off the motherboard (it will look fine, but the pins that connect to the charging circuit are fractured). In that case, the jack needs to be re-soldered if not replaced. Super common issue on laptops. The connector needing to be bent a bit to charge is a common symptom of this. But I would probably opt for the charger personally. One less thing to lose or go break. You will also get the correct voltage/amp rating.
I've found that hitting a hammer on the butt of a screwdriver while turning it can help remove a stripped screw.
Anyone have any durable, easy-to-build, medium/small desks that could easily fit a Corsair 250D, an Acer H236HLbid and a Corsair K70 RGB on its surface? Below $200 if possible. As long as I can put the case in a good position where it will get good airflow and isn't near/on the floor while still leaving room for the other things, I'm happy. That's the big deal breaker here. A keyboard tray would be nice, but isn't necessary.
Question. Should I just drill a screw out that has a damaged head? I can't seem to get a screw out which is holding a laptop im doing repair work on together.
Yeah, drill it. Replacement screws are usually easy to find.

I went to class and came home (as an aside, my computer and the monitor in question were shut down for the time period) and the monitor has begun buzzing periodically.
Update #2! I think the backlight burned out some time last night? The monitor will turn on normally (with the flicker, though), and about five seconds later it turns "off". It still seems to work and run and everything, but the screen is nigh black. I can just barely make out what's supposed to be there... at just the right angle. Working on opening it up now, but it looks like all the capacitors are good? [editline]15th October 2014[/editline] Okay, yeah, got it completely opened up and was able to move clearly look at the capacitors. They're all good. Flat capped, no burn marks on them or the silicon. Everything looks (keep in mind I'm computer literate, but not an engineer) okay.

It fits my Antec P280 and 3 20 inch monitors with room to write. It was about 110$. Also, is Windows 10 gonna be free for 8 user?

Because it looks wicked nice and I'm happy that it's relatively affordable, but I'm worried about the amount of space it might take up in my room. Got any pictures of yours to give me a better idea of its size?
Yes! I have the blackout version of it. It's not that huge and it's a bit short. Do you have measuring tape? The dimensions are in the product details. If not, I'll send a picture tomorrow.
I need a cheap case, on a UK site. Any suggestions or recommendations?
I need a cheap case, on a UK site. Any suggestions or recommendations?
Do you mean computer case? If so: What format is your motherboard? What are your needs? What aesthetics do you like? What's the maximum you're willing to spend?
Well my motherboard right now is a ConRoe1333-DVI/H (Old ass piece of shit I don't know shit about) which is why I want a case that will ideally fit this motherboard for now, until I upgrade later on. I need a case now due to hard drive issues. Basically to have all my drives inside this case causes a lot of loud noise due to the fact I can't actually screw the drives in properly. Aesthetics don't really matter, and I'd like to make my maximum budget around £70 since I'd like to buy it soon.
So my back panel audio causes my mic to be incredibly noisy. Any fixes outside of just buying a soundcard?
