With all these great deals on different hardware what do you guys think I should upgrade on my pc? I currently have a GTX 760 (4gb), 8 gigs of ram, AMD FX 8320 Eight-Core, and a GA 880GM-D2H motherboard..the oldest component there is the MB, but I don't really have any problems with it. What do you guys think?
Is there a way I can use a wireless router to receive a wifi signal rather than broadcast one? What I'm picturing is, connect several wired devices to a router via ethernet, and then somehow use that router to connect to the wireless network? Is there an easier way to do this?
Building a PC almost from scratch. Wanna get something to play at 1920x1080p 144Hz CPU-Heavy games like Red Orchestra 2, Arma 3 and Battlefield 4. Want to have the potential to increase the RAM and buy a second GPU for SLI and have the CPU being able to keep up. Not sure if I'll be able to overclock anything. Here's my build so far: - Corsair Obsidian 750D Computer Case; - Corsair RM1000 Power Supply Unit - ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX Motherboard; - Intel Core i7-4790K Processor; - Corsair Vengeance Black 2X8GB DDR3-1600; - MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GD5T OC Video Card; I have a pretty good heatsink I can use but otherwise the rest I'll buy. Not sure if good/bad/okay build. Criticism?
Yeah, I'm planning with SLI in mind. Don't want to buy a new card right away but perhaps no later than next year. I've pretty much double-checked everything and got as much info as possible and it seems to be a cost-effective set-up considering all the prices I've seen. It's a bit more expensive in Canada, but I'd be able to get all those parts for 1410 CAD with a 85 CAD rebate. Not sure if it's acceptable or not that extraordinary.

Should I wait until Cyber Monday to order a new Nvidia 970 GTX? I can grab one with a decent aftermarket cooler for about $340 right now. Do you see it going much cheaper?
Should I wait until Cyber Monday to order a new Nvidia 970 GTX? I can grab one with a decent aftermarket cooler for about $340 right now. Do you see it going much cheaper?
That's the bet I'm hedging on. If it doesn't, I'm waiting until after Christmas, since I kind of just dropped $500 on a new messenger bag and some clothes, and now I'm more or less broke.
anyone know of the cheapest 3.5" sata to usb cable? i have an old desktop hdd i'd like to get a bunch of shit off of and a laptop. the desktop stopped working (power supply exploded i think) so i can't just get it off normally. i actually even have a 2.5" sata to usb cable but it doesn't work because 3.5" hdd's require a power supply.
if you have a spare usb 3.0 port you can pick up a sata to usb3 adapter that plainly just runs off usb or you could pick up a usb 2 dock that can support multiple storage devices, they're literally all over ebay
You can't run a desktop drive off USB because it requires a 5v and 12v. You'll need a dock with separate power going to the wall.
I got a new GPU and stuff moves around "fast" this happens Do I need a screen with a greater refresh rate then 60hz? and if so what hz do you guys recommend?

Its independent of refresh rate.
its ghosting. the response time of the panel is too low. Its independent of refresh rate.
Ah, and how do I fix it?
Ah, and how do I fix it?
It's just the monitor afaik. Not much to do
It's just the monitor afaik. Not much to do
Alright, I was already planning to get a new one but I don't know what hz I should get
If you read TFTcentral reviews they will show how much ghosting a monitor has.
Want a new GPU, looking around at a 660 or a 660TI if I can snag it. Question: is ZOTAC a reliable brand? THeir cards seem to be a notable amount cheaper, but I'd love to avoid a brand that pops the weasel 6 months in. No interest in OC'ing, just need a card far better than my 450.

If that 660 is still on sale for $109 buy it
Hey guys, is it worth trying to look up animated desktop backgrounds? I wanted to give it a shot to see if it would look nice but I'm assuming there aren't a lot of good quality motion backgrounds around as they aren't really popular. Anyone here use those, maybe point me in the right direction?
I am terrible confused atm. this is my processor: See how it says the MHz are 2912.82 aka 2.91 GHz. This is the chip (i think) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285&cm_re=fx_8320-_-19-113-285-_-Product and it says that is 3.5 ghz. Why does it say 2.91 on windows and CPU-Z? Thanks

I wouldn't worry unless you are hahaving performance issues or it never goes higher than that.
Power saving, possibly but honestly AMD CPUs have a past with bad frame rates and Arma 3 and even CSGO.
true.. im a few clicks away from buying an i7 and an intel mobo then I realized cyber monday will be happening soon..
true.. im a few clicks away from buying an i7 and an intel mobo then I realized cyber monday will be happening soon..
Don't get an i7 if you're just gaming. And i5 will do more than fine.
Don't get an i7 if you're just gaming. And i5 will do more than fine.
I stream as well ;)
Even an i5 is good enough. I stream at 60 fps at 1280x720 and my i5 3470 is enough.
Ill look more into it once cyber monday prices come around! Thanks <3
You can't run a desktop drive off USB because it requires a 5v and 12v. You'll need a dock with separate power going to the wall.
i knew that they required some kind of separate power but i figured that they just came w/ power adapters also
Even an i5 is good enough. I stream at 60 fps at 1280x720 and my i5 3470 is enough.
And if you do GPU encoding, you don't even need a lot of CPU power for streaming. I know OBS supports Intel and Nvidia hardware encoding and it seems to work pretty well.
So I just got back from testing out my cpu to make sure that it wasn't getting stuck at 2.91ghz. and it turns out it is. I looked in the bios for the option to turn it off but I cant seen to find it? Anyone have any ideas
Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H
Hmm.. you know when I got this chip I thought that, because I saw that as well. but it has an AM3+ socket and its an am3+ cpu.. if it wasn't made for it it shouldn't work should it?
