What programs do you all recommend for giving my PC a nice clean? I'm going to try the new CCleaner since the old one always froze for me.

don't greens have relatively bad RPMs? (and by extension bad read/write speeds)

Yeah but they're low power storage drives, they don't need to be fast.

Doesn't matter much for a large bulk drive for multimedia
Does anyone know what motherboard that would work great with this CPU? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072
What do I need in order to allow more ethernet ports on my router?

This thread is for software too, right? Anyone have any idea what the hell is happening with my Youtube page:

Only happens in Google Chrome. Tried disabling all extensions and restarting, as well as doing a hard refresh to clear the cache. It looks fine for about 0.1 seconds then will squash up like this.

Yep, just plug that into one of your router's LAN ports.

positive you disabled all userscripts?
afaik one of the older (relatively speaking) greasemonkey scripts broke
Yeah, unless userscripts aren't under extensions and I'm blind.
I'm pretty sure I've got a virus though, also started getting a bunch of popups and there's an insane amount of adverts on Youtube & Google. Gonna run a few scans and see what happens.
Edit:
Yep. Got this shit. I knew I shouldn't have downloaded anything from C-Net. Got it off my computer though so all is good. Thanks :)
So, my laptop runs really hot after about an hour or so of gaming (of course, it's a laptop). It has a heating vent on the side, and I have a laptop pad with a fan built in to try and keep it slightly cooler. Is there a way to adjust the fan speed? I checked the BIOS options and didn't see anything related to fan speed, I also downloaded speedfan, but it didn't pick up my fans. Is there another way to do this, or should I just get a bag of liquid nitrogen to stick under my computer when I play games

edit: i dont know how to read
while I'm on the subject, does the temperature of the PC affect performance, or is it just bad for the PC in the long run?

I don't know about an option to change fan speed but I recommend getting some compressed air and really going at it. My laptop is the same with heat and I have a pad as well (which helps quite a bit usually) but it gets dust build up really fast.

If it gets too hot things will slow down working to lower their heat output
don't greens have relatively bad RPMs? (and by extension bad read/write speeds)
Bad RPM is subjective, they run very quiet, and very cool.
They still push 100MB/s+ in sustained areas. Just not good for random access, so keep it defragged.

It won't directly affect performance, but it will indirectly. Almost any modern processor will underclock itself as the temperature rises, which decreases how much heat it puts out. It normally only becomes a problem if you're running certain synthetic benchmarks and/or have bad cooling (often because of dust clogging the airflow).
I want to upgared my graphics card to a Radeon HD 7970 and I need to know if my PSU has enough wattage (650W) and if my CPU will limit the performance on newer titles. The card says it requires 500W, and "one 150W 8-pin PCI Express power connector and one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector recommend", although how many watts does the rest take up?
As for the CPU question, currently I have AMD Athlon II X4 640 @ 3.0ghz, will I be able to keep going without this CPU limiting performance if I upgrade to the 7970?

Nah your CPU is gonna bottleneck the fuck out of a 7970
I think something is wrong with these readings, anyone wanna confirm?

like, the clock speed or something, because of that message I got about my CPU being unsupported and running at a slower rate or something.

How much, though? Would it still be a decent upgrade, or do I really need to upgrade the CPU aswell? If so, how much would a decent enough CPU cost?

This could be speedstep kicking in. Basically what it does is clock your CPU down when it's not under any significant load.
EDIT: it does not hurt performance at all, so it's fine, if that's the case.

Check if the motherboard supports the CPU. If it doesn't it will run on 1.34ghz. I know that feel...

[sp]you do get where I'm going with this right?[/sp]
Computer runs Bioshock 1 fine = Computer runs Bioshock Infinite fine?
Not at all.
Bioshock was a crazily-modified UnrealEngine 2.5 game. BS: Infinite is a modded UnrealEngine 3. That said, Infinite doesn't seem to push hardware that hard, according to the system requirements. Main thing is needing a DX10 card, not the DX9 SM3 Bioshock needed. So if your rig runs BS1 "fine", it will probably "run" BSI.
Can anyone tell me the proper way to be overclocking a processor? I've seen some things that just say bump the multiplier up, and others that say bump the FSB up. What's the difference?
What processor do you have?

Bioshock 1 was 2.5? I thought it was 3, just because it seems like we've had Unreal3 for like 200 fucking years.

Wikipedia says 2.5...
I need some type of adapter to go from my 6870 with DVI or HDMI (or VGA with my DVI to VGA adapter) to my old CRT TV with RCA or S-Video. What would be the most cost effective way to do this?
