CAM keeps saying basic applications are pushing me to my processing limit, things like Chrome, Spotify, but it's usually when I'm multitasking.
Rig:
Intel i5 4670K @ 3.9ghz
G Skill Ripjaws 8gb RAM DDR3 @ 1600mhz
2x Zotac GTX 760 2gb in SLI
750 PSU (Corsair I think)
Samsung EVO 250gb SSD
Seagate 2tb HDD
Running on Windows 8.1
Should I get more RAM? Or should I consider getting a better cooler and overclocking my CPU? Thanks in advance.
Anybody know where I can buy a dedicated graphics power supply like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817206001&cm_re=Dedicated_Graphic_Card_power_supply-_-17-206-001-_-Product
Every one I find is out of stock.
I want this because I want to add a GPU to my work computer, but it's a Dell so it has a proprietary motherboard connector so I can't just throw a better one in.

You can always just get a regular PSU and use a jump bridge. You'll just have to flip the switch on the back at the same time you turn on your computer
Widows 8 doesn't remember the window position for when I click "save image as", it use to but not anymore, I got a second monitor if that might have anything to do with it, other than that it seems to remember the window position of any other window just fine.
I really don't know a more thread fitting for this question so I'll post it here - I'm using Vegas Pro to make a video and I have no idea about the name of this fairly popular comical-ish sound effect used to cut off music, I'm honestly clueless. It sounds something like a tape being reversed but I'm pretty sure that's not it.

Record scratch?
Record scratch?
BINGO! Thank you so much!
Also, I've been browsing a bunch of Christmas options for a new table mic for my PC since I have good headphones and need a new decent table mic (mine is getting a little old)
I've got my eyes on a Samson Go Mic, although I would assume it's not really good in terms of bang for buck? I also realize that it's really bloody small. I usually end up bringing my table mic into school whenever I have to record stuff so maybe this thing would come handy.

Specs? Mainly CPU, mobo, storage and OS.
Also, check for updates. On, like, everything.

CPU = i7-4770K @4.2Ghz
Mobo = ASRock Z87 Extreme4
Storage = 120GB 840 EVO + 2TB seagate barracuda
OS = Windows 8.1 Pro
Everything seems to be updated right now, ill make sure again right now
Yeah, something's up with that. Z87's a bad chip for DPC latency, but your latency should still be a hundred times lower.
I ended up turning off my C states and am waiting to see if the problem returns. Only happens after awhile of not using it. Could the Z87's bad chip also be a cause for the audio latency when I run vsync in games?
I've got a laptop what has got 2 memory slots. With a 2GB DDR3 L in each. I'd like to upgrade it to 8GB. So replace a 2GB with a 6GB. The only question is after a quick look on Amazon, I saw alot of DDR3L, but they all had other information in the description, like: NON-ECC, SODIMM, etc. Does anybody know a good place to get DDR3L Ram at a reasonable price, and what all the above abbreviations mean.

Okay, here's what you're going to do. You're going to find the clock speed of your current RAM, and you're going to buy an 8GB kit of DDR3L with identical speeds. That kit's going to be 2x4GB, because memory modules have to be paired with equal capacities.
ECC means "Error-checking and Correction." ECC memory is able to find most instances of memory corruption and correct them before they leave. You really don't need ECC RAM, so just pick what's cheaper.
SODIMM is laptop memory. It means "Small Outline Dual In-line Memory Module." It's just smaller than normal RAM.
As for a reasonable price, your best bet's Corsair or maybe Kingston. I'd just go with this set, myself.
Personally (and with you being in the UK) I'd go with this.
Right, I didn't know I needed two of the same capacity. How would one find out the Clock speed of RAM in Windows. Also would upgrading from 4GB to 8GB be worth it for around £57. My laptop shows a load of memory usage, sometimes 75%, with just several browser tabs, or a game running. Even on "balanced" system performance settings. I'm not sure if the laptop is still holding back, but open up CS:Go and choosing starter screen menus will give me a second hanging, with sound. In game it's fine on Max settings, but if I tab out and back in it will sometime take a couple of seconds to load it all up, it may be the CPU, but I thought that would be RAM related, because the old laptop i used had a core i5 2.4GHz, but the ram was at 4GB aswell.
They don't need to be the same capacity, but 6gb sticks don't exist.

It reduces conflicts and memory mismatch errors. While you can run two sticks of varying capacities on the same channel, it doesn't exactly help things.

With modern memory controllers it's pretty much a non-issue. There are so many systems out there that ship with mismatched pairs.
Okay. I found out the Clock speed from the Task manger, Performance tab. It's 1600mhz. It actually says Slots used 1 of 4. I haven't opened up the laptop, but I just assumed two slots from the way review sites described it and my experience with my previous. So with it looking as 4GB for 1 slot. I need a 4GB DDR3 So-Dimm. The same capacity and clock speed should work well then but is spending £30 worth it?
ECC means "Error-checking and Correction." ECC memory is able to find most instances of memory corruption and correct them before they leave. You really don't need ECC RAM, so just pick what's cheaper.
ECC is only able to detect and correct 1 bit out of a quadword (64 bits) and detect but not correct two bits.
ECC memory is also not usable on the majority of desktop motherboards due to the memory controller not supporting it. If you put ECC memory in a regular desktop machine, it will not POST in most cases.
are there HDMI adapters out there that offer a split female 3.5mm for audio

HDMI is a digital format, not analog. If you want to get audio off of HDMI, you'll need some sort of converter box.

Any tips?
CAM?
I just installed Windows 8 and my H100i is running loud and I get 40 degree idle temps, when I used to have 20 degree temps.
What do I do to fix this?
Well, my thumbnails still keep breaking. Folders and image/video thumbnails keep getting garbled for some reason and I have to keep deleting the thumbnail cache to fix it. Happens after a few hours.
Anyone know what causes it or how to stop it from happening?
I'm missing a driver that I can't find. it's named PCI Simple Communications Controller. any idea what driver I'm missing?
It's the Intel Engine Management Interface.
It's not even useful for consumer use. But here it is anyway.

oh, not going to bother with that then. was hoping it'd be a fix for whatever keeps disconnecting. I keep hearing the sound that plays when you disconnect something from the computer, but everything keeps working as it should. sometimes Windows will complain that an USB device is malfunctioning and asks me to re-insert it, but all of my USB stuff works normally. any idea what this could be? I only have the Razer Mamba, Corsair K95 RGB and an external USB HDD connected via USB
Is there any way actually see what's going on in the background of a windows machine? I don't like it when my computer starts overheating and I open task manager to see that all of my resources are taken up by five or six processes all labelled as "svchost.exe" and nothing else.

Over the last 5 years, you've spent 7129.8 hours playing this selection, which includes 355 items, is valued at $4884.64, and requires 1570.3 GB

Eve Online accounts for about half that time.

Its the same reason I hear two devices connect every time I login on my main gaming rig.
