So... best graphics card on a $100 budget?
Radeon 260X, or a GeForce 750 if you need the lower power consumption. Get a 2GB one if you can, pretty much everyone expects VRAM requirements to increase as the console generation wears on.

Thanks.
One more question, what do you guys think would be the best option for someone wanting to max Skyrim @ 1920x1080?
Thanks.

A GTX 970.
Sorry bud, for a game like Skyrim, you're going to need a lot more graphical power, which is going to require more than $100. A GTX 750 or an R9 260X is fine if you're maxing out Source games like Team Fortress 2 or CS:GO. Not for the bigger, more demanding titles. At best with either of those cards, you'll be playing Skyrim at medium settings at 1080p, maybe with textures on high.
Ordered one. Decided to go new because the pickings on ebay were slim, and the only one that was less than new was like $3 less after shipping.
You won't be disappointed, it's a fantastic setup, and you'll still have some cash in your pocket afterward.

970's overkill, at least for Skyrim. A 770 would handle it fine, and that's a smidge cheaper.

Hell my 760 runs skyrim fine at max.
Okay, I'm utterly confused now, I always re-install Windows 7 every few months because of my brother installing viruses and other shit, and now all of a sudden it decides it's unable to create a system reserved partition, my USB with Windows 8.1 on it can create a system reserved partition just fine, but then Windows 7 just says;
Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition.
I've googled it, and people keep saying that removing any other HDDs or Optical Drives works, but there are no extra HDDs, and the Optical Drive never was a problem on any of the other formats.
Edit: Okay, using another USB Drive worked, but I'd still like to find out why the first one decided it didn't want to create a new system reserved partition.

Save an extra $100 and get a gtx 760. I have 2 of this model but I only had one at one point and it was still great and ran Skyrim at your requested specs no problem, with mods.
Just get good wifi gear. Even if it's N.
If you need to get some I recommend ASUS and you might as well spend cash to get the AC66U(i think?) and get a AC wireless adapter.
Well it was more for a personal point. Not at my own place so can't really pay £120 to change the router just for me.I Was looking at more wi-fi boosters, and Ethernet adapters. Even tips on reducing interferences. I've got a stack of copper coins nearby what probably doesn't help, but i've noticed keep it on a wooden furniture, at a reasonable height gives the most stable connection, regardless of room location. Any advice on that?
I hate when people say 'fine'. We got Skyrim playing fine on a 760, 770, and 970! It's probably best to just look at benchmarks of your resolution than these anecdotal answers. Just my two cents. :P
I ran skyrim with a few texture mods on high-very high with a 1GB GTX 280, and on med-high with a 1GB 9800GTX+. The game actually isn't that graphically demanding without 4k texture mods and shit like that, it hogs the CPU though, and i've had a 2500k at 4.6ghz for 3 years

skyrim's not that much more demanding on the gpu than fallout 3 if you don't use graphical mods
i really doubt they overhauled the graphics component that much
This is say a little odd, but did they upgrade the graphics for Gmod. I haven't played Gmod in years, and I finally got my laptop, so I'm playing this in High, as well as CS:GO. I see both games look very similar graphically, and it got me thinking about that cinematic mod for hl2 and how Gmod max graphic settings looks like it has it. So, has Gmod got updated graphics from HL2 vanilla?
They added in HDR and Direct X 9ex extensions so it visually looks a little bit better, but it's still running the base Orange Box Engine from 2011.
Right I see. Did the Orange Box also get updated graphics. The game still looks alot better graphically than how I remember HL2 , like 8 years ago.
Compared to old engine and new engine, it runs better and looks better.
It's still single threaded which is a damn shame. But they added lua into Gmod and hex models and thus things look a lot better and feel better. But it also runs like arse if you stack a shit ton of addons :v:
Yeah that'd make sense. I was on a CS:GO sever with mods, 20+ people. Played on a Gmod sever the other day, only 25 in same area but really started sucking FPS wise. So the gmod sever probably had loads of Crappy addons
I got a small TV from a friend of mine that basically said if I can fix it I can have it. Looks like the rf jack broke off. It seems like an easy fix but I just want someone with more experience to get a second opinion. It looks like there are 5 solder points, 4 for the rf shield and 1 for the Jack itself. I just need a replacement Jack, desolder those points and resolder them? Does that sound right? Pics attached.

any idea why launching Star Citizen causes my system to go wonkers? if I'm lucky, it'll only cripple my system for a few minutes while a lot of my programs crashes, including explorer.exe. eventually it gains traction again and works as usual. if I'm not lucky, it'll BSOD with the error KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE. I get lots of warning regarding address errors, but I was unable to get a picture of that since I was in the CTRL+ALT+DEL menu when it popped up.

I recall some other games doing this as well, particularly intensive games. Titanfall and BF4 has done this to me several times before, though not as severe.

is there a way to keep an ICC profile always on by the way? incredibly annoying that games reset my ICC profile so I constantly have to go re-apply it after I'm done with a game
Do you have Avast installed?
I've had a KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE BSOD from an Avast DeepScreen when launching games before.

disabling Avast's shields seems to help, thank you! though it's not completely resolved. game still doesn't work, but at least my computer doesn't do a failed backflip.

could this indicate faulty RAM? I see no reason why it should behave as if I'm running out of memory when there's still 3GB unused. a few of my Chrome tabs was killed due to this as well.

So will a HL2 mod have the same graphical capacity has Gmod, mod now.
Hey, I've got a high end I5, 8 gbs of ram, and a 5850
How much would I have to shell out on a graphics card to run GTA V and the Witcher 3 on ultra or max? And could someone recommend one?
Will my cpu be a bottleneck in the coming years?

Depends on the i5. They have been around for 5 years so it could be any of them. If it makes you feel better though, an i5 2500k from 2011 is still a very good processor. It will probably last you a long time.

Even an i5-750 should still hold its own in games nowadays
so upgraded my old amd pc with a new intel uefi motherboard and i5, plugged everything in and windows did a hardware checking thing and then it just worked, been testing and it seems to all be working fine, should i reinstall windows anyway cos of the totally new mobo/cpu or just leave it?

If it seems to be working, don't bother unless you start having issues.
Ah I meant a 5850. If I picked up a gtx 970 would I be able to run games on ultra for a few years?

certainly, i think even a 670 would suit you for a couple more years albeit not at ultra like the 970 would

The 970 kicks ass, If you can drop the money on it or a 980 do it. Otherwise there are plenty secondhand high end 6xx and 7xx cards on ebay and such
Hey guys, I have a Motorolla Surfboard modem that doubles as a router, if I get a second router to imrpove the signal on my main floor (modem is in the basement) will I have to connect it via wired/ethernet cable or will I be able to connect it wirelessly?
What kind of switches are in this old Fujitsu Model FKD8720 my grandfather has? It's a pleasure to type on and I was surprised that it wasn't rubberdome.
