GTX 670 is on its way out. What's a cheap/decent card for gaming at 1440p? All I really play is WoW, StarCraft 2, Civilization, CSGO, and Dark Souls 2.
I'm picking up a 970 for my 1440p setup... but probably a pair of them. IMO for those games you should wait a bit if you can for the 960. It's looking to be as promising of a value as the 970, but obviously at a lesser price.
I forgot to post I only have about $150ish to spend, plus I really don't think I need something more than $200 (if I manage to get a bit more money before the card dies) since I rarely play games on my PC anymore.
750TI or 270X.
Yeah then that. I'd go for the 270 due to the wider memory bus. Will help a lot more for 1440p.
Figured I'd need to go with one of those. Thanks for the input. [editline]2nd January 2015[/editline] Until I'm able to order one of those I'll be using a GTX 650.
Soo I'm looking for a laptop that -I can use to play a midi keyboard without latency -can run games fairly -full hd display -Preferably has an ssd -at least i5 -doesnt give a fuck if i have 15 chrome tabs, eclipse scala, matlab and spotify open -not over 800 e Any recommendations? I'm okay with an used one.
McAfee has been scanning Rootkit for like 20 minutes, should I be concerned?
Why are you even using McAfee?
Because I still have a license from like 3 years ago and I figured it couldn't hurt to keep using it.
It can and does. Using McAfee instead of something better is actively compromising your computer's security. If move to something else; anyone know what' scoring these days?

is McAfee really that bad? with all the hate it's getting it sounds more like it has just become a thing that's cool to hate. I lost my windows 8 key and the email with the key. I can tell that microsoft support is going to get me no where. Should i use keyfinder? (https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/). They look pretty shady.
Yeah, I used that to get my Windows 7 key before I formatted.
Sounds good. Microsoft support is so fucking painful I might have to use this. EDIT: After being transferred 7 times during the course of an hour and a half I've decided to just use that program to find it. Worked in 2 seconds. Microsoft is the worst.

Most antiviruses are pretty close with each other.
It's the fact that the program is a bloated piece of shit. Most antiviruses are pretty close with each other.
that's probably true, but I find it ridiculous that people behave as if using McAfee is a disaster and won't do any good for your system.
Will a CPU be able to render Windows and an internet browser? Or do you specifically need some graphics component whether it be on the CPU, motherboard, or discrete? The reason why I ask is because I want to make a good build, but am trying to shave off costs. I figure if the build is good enough to reach the Windows page or install Mozilla Firefox, I can worry about a graphics card in the future.

Fortunately, most modern Intel and AMD CPUs have them built in. Its really more of a matter of finding a motherboard with the appropriate outputs, since you can buy motherboards without video outputs.
So my new apartment has some exclusivity deal with comcast, and the fucking shit router is $10/mo rental. It's the infamous TG862 with barely-functional WiFi, when it works it's about 6 or 7 mbits. I wanna buy one outright and was pointed towards this one, does anyone have experience with it?

It's worked excellently so far for the 5 months I've had it.
Is getting a i7 4790K worth the money? I have a 2600K right now. I obviously don't know that much about processors.
Is getting a i7 4790K worth the money? I have a 2600K right now. yeah pretty much. you already have a quad core processor with pretty great core speed, GTA isn't going to make use of anything more than that

Could clock it sky high on my loop.
I've got a 2500k. Apparently, you can overclock it to 4.6Ghz on air, higher with water or alternative cooling. It's a pretty solid processor.
What should i buy to make my cpu stop overheating (I think that's why my computers randomly shutting down, I think its either that or the psu dying) baring in mind I haven't replaced thermal compound or anything since like mid 2011 when I first got the computer. i had massive FPS drops in bf4 last night, then the pc turned off and refused to start until i reinstalled windows, and then started shutting down randomly after that. I'm sitting here installing chipset stuff and its going up to 65 degrees c, idling at 40. I just want to play games without my shit dying. Its an i52500 (no k) on a gigabyte z68MA D2H B3
yeah i have that, all the cores were ~65 after I installed all the drivers from the gigabyte site, then now after I've restarted, all I have done is watch youtube and browse sites What can I use to load it because I dont have games installed.
ambient temperature is 29 degrees c according to google.

that screenshot isnt under load, i dont know what i can load it with cause nothings installed
