What processor do you have?
Well currently running a Phenom II x4 (actually the x2 with unlocked cores and running at 3.88GHz, due to the ASUS overclocker) but i'm upgrading to a 3570K within the week (sitting right in front of me.) Is it different between processors? Shit I did not know.

But will that work if i'm using it through a converter from DVI on my grahpics card? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999201
If I use the VGA port on my Z68 motherboard, would that use the 6870, or would it just use the 2500k's integrated graphics?
It's fair to say that this motherboard will work with this video card, right?

It appears RAM has gone up in price. 8gb was $40 now it is $60. Why?
Bioshock 1 was 2.5? I thought it was 3, just because it seems like we've had Unreal3 for like 200 fucking years.

Wikipedia says 2.5...
It was a very updated 2.5. It actually came out after a few UE3 games did (Gears, Vegas), but it was still based on UE2.5 with a lot of custom features, mainly the water effects. I think they even ported some UE3 features, like the dynamic texture loading.

Yes.
However, the card will only operate in PCIe 2.0 mode in that motherboard. This won't matter, since I don't think any current video card will bottleneck even a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (maybe some of the dual-GPU cards do), but don't be surprised when you see the card running in 2.0 mode instead of the PCIe 3.0 it supports. It's *extremely* doubtful this will have a negative effect on performance.
Is there a really decent clip on microphone anyone knows of? Not USB. Just a reliable, non-dodgy microphone. Nothing necessarily fancy. I would be willing to spend up to $50.

I'm in Australia as well. Though I can probably order from US etc.

Cheers, wouldn't want to buy the card then find out it didn't work.
Is there any way of setting up nVidia surround to only activate for games or something? The desktop hacks they implemented are pretty horrible and I can't see myself ever using them, but I still wanna use it occasionally for games.

Let me introduce you to a little thing known as inflation.

Inflation doesn't work quite as specialized as that.
Is there any Ethernet cable that is about as thick as a Power lead?

Why do you need something like that?
Is there any Ethernet cable that is about as thick as a Power lead?
I'd imagine screened shielded twisted pair is pretty thick

Though the normal CAT5 UTP cable I use is about as thick as most power leads in my house, with the exception of those really thick cables for computer power sources.

Because I have to route it under carpet and the thin type ones just wear out and break after being stood on quite a bit in my experience.

Put strips of wood either side of it?
would the jump from 4 gb to 8 gb really make a difference in games? It seems they USUALLY don't use more than 4 because 32-bit OSs, but it seems that it would allow more room for background stuff.
Because I have to route it under carpet and the thin type ones just wear out and break after being stood on quite a bit in my experience.
um
spend a bit more and run it through walls/staple it to the walls?
Is a 32-bit program running on a 64-bit OS able to use more than 4GB of memory if available?
Is a 32-bit program running on a 64-bit OS able to use more than 4GB of memory if available?
no (I think :P)

Not as far as I know.
(Maya isn't the biggest fan.)

Get some (floortrak) cable covers to protect the cable.

here's a belkin one on amazon for cheap

if you need longer runs:

Or just get flat ethernet cables???
Or just get flat ethernet cables???
those exist?
Is a 32-bit program running on a 64-bit OS able to use more than 4GB of memory if available?
No.
A 32-bit program cannot use more than 4GB of RAM. Using a 64-bit OS can still help, as it can free up address space. Perhaps I should give an example:
Suppose you have a computer with 6GB of RAM, a 1GB video card and a handful of other devices using trivial amounts of the address space (even something like a USB controller or ethernet adapter will use some of the address space, due to how they're controller by the CPU, but they rarely add up to more than a few dozen megabytes in total unless they have significant line-addressable memory, like certain RAID controllers or NICs with powerful offload capabilities).
Running a 32-bit OS, the entire OS would only have a hair under 3GB of memory available, so no program could use more than that. Running a 64-bit OS, however, would let the OS use all the memory (7GB and change). While a 32-bit program could only use 4GB, that's still more than the 3GB it could before, and multiple 32-bit programs could use memory (so if you had 8GB, you could have 2 32-bit programs using 4GB with neither conflicting).
So I just learned I can hook up my PS3 controllers to my computer and use them if I wanted to. Would this work with any game or only specific ones with "controller" options?

Would it be better than the built in microphone on my computer?
That one picks up the cars on the road outside my house when I am upstairs and in the room furthest away. Or (I'm hoping) is it sensitive only for nearby noise? I don't know how sound works.

Every game that supports controllers can be used. Otherwise you can use xpadder.
(Also, some games only work with Xbox 360 controllers - but there's some weird dll file you can use to get around that)

You will need the MotionInJoy program to get it to work. Then you can have it pretend you are using an xbox controller and it will work with any game supporting that.
