Could anyone point me in the direction of a good monitor for gaming? I have an Asus VH242H right now, and would like to use it as a sort of side monitor instead. Price isn't the biggest of concerns, but I'd rather not spend millions, I'm sure you understand. Huge thanks.

After a while 60hz seems a bit laggy :v:. I thought it was a bit expensive too, but in the end - well worth it.
And there are no problems when using two monitors running different frequencies? If that is the case it does look pretty great.
And there are no problems when using two monitors running different frequencies? If that is the case it does look pretty great.
Nope, I have two monitors - one 60hz one 120hz. If you have more questions, feel free to PM me. (Even if it's regarding setting it to 120hz etc)
Huge thanks then, again. I'll order one of these as soon as possible.
Huge thanks then, again. I'll order one of these as soon as possible.
What are your specs first, if you can't get 100+ fps in games then it's kind of pointless. Just go for a nice IPS screen.
Well 120hz will look better in almost any situation. You just won't see the difference in games. But general work will be smoother.
Can anyone recommend a way of easily switching between using my 5.1 speakers to my stereo headphones? It needs to be hardware, not software because the jack in the front of my computer has grounding problems so it creates a really annoying sound. Second question regarding the first question: I plan on getting a soundcard in the future; would this fix my current problem? My motherboard, already supports 5.1 and I don't really need to hear quality from it. So would I just be able to plug my speakers into my motherboard and my headphones into the soundcard and be fine? Thanks in advance!
What problems/nightmares would arise in the theoretical scenario that a person has both a NVIDIA card and an AMD card installed in the same system at the same time? I could imagine drivers for both cards being one of them. (ie using the NVIDIA card for Folding@home, AMD for Bitcoin or similar)
What are your specs first, if you can't get 100+ fps in games then it's kind of pointless. Just go for a nice IPS screen.
It does make a small difference at lower fps, but it begins to really show itself when you get over 80-90fps, especially at 120hz. I think you should rephrase that, 120hz if you can get over 100fps, otherwise you would recommend a IPS.. (I would still buy the 120hz and then upgrade though if it couldn't handle it :v:) Besides, most FPS games aren't very demanding - except Planetside 2 of course.
well to take full advantage of it you'd have to push 120fps for it to be super hot fire ya feel me but then like if you can't, you're just payin for a feature that you can't really use entirely, and with something like a 24" 16:10 IPS monitor you'll get better colors and all that. fuck man, I wrote it better in some other thread but I don't know anymore

I got the point.
so my raspberry pi's installation of xbmc has gone balls up. It has no menu now. How do i change xbmc settings without being in xbmc, i can't find it anywhere.
Plug the SD card in your PC and mess with the files.
If I plan on getting a new GPU or harddrive, what should I be looking at in the tech specifics?
If I plan on getting a new GPU or harddrive, what should I be looking at in the tech specifics?
Depends entirely on what you need them to do.
hi guys back with another gpu question, im looking to get a gpu better than my current 5770. i only use a res of 1366 x 768 on both of my monitors, would i be able to get a gpu around $150ish and still have a better performance than my 5770? someone recommended me this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125446 a while back, would this still be the way to go? i still plan on using the same res.
Just wondering, is it bad to just leave the battery out of your laptop and leave the laptop plugged in? I have my laptop on a lot for downloading and only recently realized that I could just take the battery out and have it plugged in. Just wondering if there are any drawbacks to this?

Something to do with how Lithium batteries work. I keep my battery in only because my charger cable likes to fall out of the socket, particularly in gaming.

repost from android thread any sweet ~tasker wizards~ around? could use some help with a profile of mine that just isn't working
I have to buy a replacement motherboard for mine because it's all fucked. Can you guys point me in a general direction because I am lost atm. My old one was a MSI x58 Pro-E (which they have stopped production of) and i want something similar or slightly better (if the price is right: ~$130) And can anyone tell me if the CPU (Intel i7 950) can be removed and placed in the new one or do I have to get a new CPU too?
i was poking about from the rpi itself, i can't seem to find the files. Where might they be? edit: plugging the sd into a PC only brings up this [t]http://i.imgur.com/AjauB4Q.png[/t]
config.txt looks promising
That's config for the raspberry pi's kernel. but i found the problem. Turns out xbmc was in a 'hidden' folder, and i only had to delete uisettings.xml in the userdata to fix it. ps- i'm bad @ linux
Well, you resolved it almost by yourself didn't you? It's a start :v:
I'm looking for a new hard drive to store movies, and other assorted things. Since I want it to last for a while a 2TB drive looks like a good option. I was wondering if there is anything I should avoid. For instance, are there any brands which I should avoid?

Be careful, since that's also used by server motherboards (with multiple sockets), which are crazy expensive (~$300-$500). Couldn't find anything but server boards on Newegg, but Amazon had a couple good-looking ones, including what might have been your exact motherboard.
So a few month ago I got my hands on a Cisco Catalyst 2940-8TF (I think that is the one) and I found that it costs around £400. I don't know much about it and I just asking you guys quickly. If it's working (not tried it yet), should I try use it at home or try to sell it and make some money?
So, my mom's monitor burned out and she "borrowed" my monitor to use (I'm at school, on my laptop, so I don't mind). My dad said this could be a good excuse to buy a new monitor for myself. Any suggestions? 1920x1080, around 24 inches is preferred.
Recently I've just gotten started with streaming and I just got a new usb headset, I'll list the problem and what I have going on. I want to be able to hear my skype calls in my headset. I want my stream to pick up the skype call, not just me, but I also want my speakers to have everything but the skype call. Skype call audio playback is set to USB Audio Device Laptop audio playback (including xsplit and gameplay sound) is set to Realtek HD Audio Speakers Xsplit mic is set to USB Audio Device I just want to be able to hear my TV and the game, not Xsplit playing back my game with 1 second lag in my ears while playing. or Can I have all the audio in my ears, and solve the problem entirely by somehow making xsplit quiet without being quiet on the stream? Sorry if my wording is weird, long day and tired. Example, I was streaming God Hand last night on my old headset with no USB, so the audio was all forced into my ears. In order to have my stream volume at a good level, I have to be able to hear the game in my ears with a 2second delay to what I'm doing on the screen. Not only is this disorienting, but when I'm in a call, I cannot hear anyone over the punches and gameplay. So I'd love to figure out how i can mute the game audio just for me, but still have it loud and clear on my stream.
