8 Gigs of ram and an i7 3610QM @ 2.3 Ghz. I can max out lots of games (Except SSAO, I always turn that off for the frames), or at least play them on medium high, but the second Physx comes into play, it's down to 20 FPS for me.
Yeah, doesn't look like a hardware issue. Most likely a software configuration problem, although I'm not sure what that could be.
Yeah, doesn't look like a hardware issue. Most likely a software configuration problem, although I'm not sure what that could be.
are there any programs that would interfere with driver software though? I've never had programs have compatibility issues with games or drivers. EDIT: Well, I went into the Nvidia control panel. I went into the files for Borderlands 2, and selected the .exe, and set it to use the dedicated card instead of choosing for itself. I also set the physx processor to the GPU. It's a bit better now, but still kind of jerky. Is there a way to see my framerate in games that isn't fraps? I want to see if I'm actually getting a low framerate, or if the game is skipping frames. EDIT AGAIN: So now, I set the game to use my GPU automatically, and set the physx processor to my CPU, and my frameraet shot way up! I still get performance losses in some areas that I didn't get before, it's probably just the extra strain on my processor.
My BFG GTX280 OC has this issue where it will hang slightly, as if the drivers crashed/are trying to crash, and my clock speeds of the card get slashed across the board, i can't change them back without a full reboot. Makes game performance go from a fluid 30+ fps to 8-12. [t]http://puu.sh/2aDPf[/t] Center window should show what my settings are intended to be, CPU-Z and afterburner both show what they get slashed to. Any ideas? note that games generally don't crash, they just start running like shit after playing for a bit
What are the pros and cons of water cooling? Other than better cooling than air (I assume) I'm interested in fixing water cooling In my pc but I hear it's pretty hard to maintain (?)
What's the best way to stream videos from my PC to various devices?
What's the best way to stream videos from my PC to various devices?
samba share?
What are the pros and cons of water cooling?
How so? The water shouldn't really do anything, right, since it's just water and nothing else you put in it.
water + electronics = bad Where did you buy your brains from?
Pros: Better cooling Generally quieter Looks rad Cons: More expensive If you mess up, *everything's* fucked
How often do you generally change water (I'm assuming you do that and clean it(?) ) and how much does it generally cost? Sorry If I should make a thread for these questions.
Well if you get a closed loop system like the Corsair H line then you don't have to change it but its limited to your CPU.
How so? The water shouldn't really do anything, right, since it's just water and nothing else you put in it.
Pour some water over your computer and tell us how it works out.
Pour some water over your computer and tell us how it works out.
Deionized water should work fine no?
Does anyone have recommendations on an office chair? I'm thinking about investing about $250 into an office chair. Steelcase Think on Craigslist for $230 Aeron Chair with no arm rests for $300 Excercise ball for $20 Any opinons on these chairs or other chairs? I do have access to ikea.
Deionized water should work fine no?
It would become conductive once it absorbed stuff from whatever surface it leaked onto afaik.
Deionized water should work fine no?
It has been explained before. When it touches the air etc. it will become conductive again.
It would become conductive once it absorbed stuff from whatever surface it leaked onto afaik.
Fair enough. [editline]2nd March 2013[/editline]
It has been explained before. When it touches the air etc. it will become conductive again.
I'm fairly certain it won't become conductive from coming into contact with the air. If you're gonna tell me I'm wrong at least post a reasonable explanation like alien_guy, instead of asking me where I bought my head.
I'm considering putting some cash into my computer in anticipation of ArmA III. What do you guys recommend? I'm thinking of picking up a 7850, but not so sure. Here's my speccy: I have a 6850 right now, to specify. I run ArmA II at about 60 frames in non-intensive situations (IE: Sitting at a base with nothing happening, pretty much idle) and at about 30-40 in intense combat on Normal settings.

Does anyone here know why going to Deviantart or Newgrounds makes Skype go offline and Google Chrome unable to access any webpages for a minute or so?
What are the pros and cons of water cooling? Other than better cooling than air (I assume) I'm interested in fixing water cooling In my pc but I hear it's pretty hard to maintain (?)
The risk of a leak isn't really worth it imo. If you want to cool your PC use mineral oil instead of water.
I was going to buy a Quadro 4000 or Quadro FX 5800, But then the Titan came out which uses a Tesla GPU . Is the GTX Titan any good for Maya (Autodesk state the GTX 670, 680 and 690 are not supported), multi layer video editing and that sort of thing?
I'm building my first gaming PC. Should I get Win7 HP or Win7 Pro? Apparently the 16gb MAX limitation on HP might end up being a problem in the near future.

[editline]3rd March 2013[/editline]
I'm building my first gaming PC. Should I get Win7 HP or Win7 Pro? Apparently the 16gb MAX limitation on HP might end up being a problem in the near future.
Most people don't need 16GB or more of RAM. Most don't even need 8, realistically the only reason you would need W7 Pro over HP would be for other features. fun fact: i had no idea Windows 7 HP had a RAM limit until now
I jailbroke my iphone yesterday and I was wondering, is it worth getting an antivirus app?
i5 3570k or AMD FX-8350? For gaming and for future-proofing.
i5 3570k or AMD FX-8350? For gaming and for future-proofing.
You should wait for haswell if you really care about future proofing a new machine/upgrade If you gotta do it now i would recommend Intel
i5 3570k or AMD FX-8350? For gaming and for future-proofing.
That's a pretty hard choice. Intel is generally better then AMD, but with the PS4 coming out with 8 cores, if developers do ports correctly the 8350 can greatly benefit from 8 threads.
Is it safe to overclock my i5-750 on my Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4 with a Hyper 101 cooler?
