Is it safe to overclock my i5-750 on my Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4 with a Hyper 101 cooler?
Run a stress test so we know your max temp on stock clocks, then we can talk.
Should I be worried about my power supply? I'm planning on upgrading from an EVGA GTX 560 to a GTX 670. The 670 I'm looking at - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130802 - has a 500W minimum, my current PSU has a 600W capacity. My current PSU - Thermaltake TR2 600W - http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001656 As long as my psu wattage is higher than the minimum for anything, should I be worried at all? My current psu is above the minimum after all.

Other than better cooling than air (I assume) I'm interested in fixing water cooling In my pc but I hear it's pretty hard to maintain (?)
pros: better cooling, quiet cons: considerably more expensive for disproportionate gain in performance, difficult setup for first timers water cooling is completely unnecessary and a waste of money right now (and has been for a while), CPUs run cool enough and overclock so easily that any half-decent air cooler or shitty closed water system can hit the maximum overclock your motherboard/CPU can handle with ease
My BFG GTX280 OC has this issue where it will hang slightly, as if the drivers crashed/are trying to crash, and my clock speeds of the card get slashed across the board, i can't change them back without a full reboot. Right now, both my desktops are hooked up to a single 1600x900 monitor (and one is also hooked up to mirror to my TV). I want better. I'm planning on getting a good 120Hz 1920x1080, for the fast-paced games, and one of the cheaper 2560x1440 monitors for slower games and for general work. I'm focusing on the latter for now - I'll research the 1080p options later. I've narrowed it down to either the Dell UltraSharp U2711 (NewEgg), or the Asus PB278Q (NewEgg). Both 27", 2560x1440 monitors. The Asus has a slightly faster response time, and a better LED backlight (and is about $100 cheaper, although I've only looked on NewEgg for pricing so far), but the Dell has more inputs (including USB) and after the two months of "issues" getting my laptop, I'm loathe to buy anything from Asus. I've also seen varied reviews about image quality. A lot of people are bitching about the matte on the Dell, but there are also a lot whining about backlight leaking on the Asus. I'm not an opponent of glossy screens (since I live in a cave and my desk is positioned such that there aren't any lights behind me), but I've never seen a matte, so maybe just don't know it's better. Anyways, to actually ask a question: Does anyone here have either of those monitors? If so, would you recommend it? As another point of interest, how fast is switching between inputs? I may have both my laptop and a desktop plugged in, and I'd like to be able to switch between inputs ideally with only a single button press and a quarter-second of switching, but really, as long as it isn't too bad, I can deal with it. Some of the monitors I've seen are a lot more complex to switch, or take a while to switch between them.
based on this review: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus_pb278q.htm (this website is an excellent resource and one-of-a-kind in regards to their thoroughness) I would definitely recommend the ASUS over the Dell when taking your uses into consideration a matte screen coating gives you more neutral and accurate colors, while a glossy coating generally makes colors seem more saturated and bright, it's up to preference in this situation really

First time builder here, and I'm wondering if it's necessary for me to buy extra case fans? I'm gonna be getting the NZXT Phantom 410 Black.

I have a minor, but annoying problem with my ASUS laptop. Sometimes during normal usage, my keyboard and mouse settings get messed up somehow, which means if I press the left mouse button, Windows interprets is as a middle click and opens the link to a new tab when I mean to open the link. It also interprets almost every keyboard press as a "CTRL + WhateverKeyIJustPressed" key combination, which means I accidentally end up opening a new browser window when I meant to type the letter "N". I'm pretty sure it's just an useless Windows accessibility setting that is getting activated by accident, but I haven't figured any other way to change it back except by logging off and then logging back in. Does anyone else know a better solution to this problem?

I don't think it's a hardware problem since it can be fixed by logging off and logging in (keyboard works normally when I'm entering the password and after I log in)
I seem to be having problems with Thunderbird not adding my accounts. Tried Gmail, hotmail and a couple of other addresses and they all come back with the same errors. Configuration could not be verified, max imap connection reached and failed to find the settings for my email account. Tried re-installing and that didn't do anything. Tried screwing around in my router. Nothing. Tried screwing around with my firewall. Nothing. Tried installing old versions. Nothing. I'm really at a loss as to what I can even do. Please not that nothing on Google even works. Including that damn unlock captcha page. Tried installing the beta and got the same thing as above. Edit Found the problem. The fucking mail thing for Avast was blocking it.
is there any way to determine the health of your gpu i think my 7970 is dieing, im getting like 30 fps in tf2, 10 fps in ps2 and and shit but bf3 runs at like 70 fps so idk anyway, does that seem normal at all

If you get the FPS you should be getting, then its probably something else causing problems.
What, exactly, would I need to use a 3D monitor with an AMD card? I've got a 6870 in my desktop, and one of the upgrades I'm planning to get is a 120Hz screen. I figure if it's not too expensive, why not get one that can do 3D? I probably won't use it much, but since I want 120Hz (or higher) anyways, what's the harm? Problem is, all the monitors I see that specifically claim 3D support do so for Nvidia. Will those even work? None of the 23" ones include glasses - where do I buy those? Or should I just give up and assume that the only time I'll be using 3D is to show off, and I can just use my (GF660) laptop to drive it?
Managed to work it all out. [del]I have a ECS MCP61SM-GM V:1.0 motherboard which uses an AMD Athlon 64 x2 4000+, would I be able to replace it with a 4800+ without needing a new mobo? [/del]
I've needed a home server for a while for accessing files, as well as hosting a VPN. Would a Dell PowerEdge be a good bet for starting out? I'm planning on putting ubuntu on it or some form of linux because it's much easier to handle for me.

Definitely do buy that PSU before 3/7 when the sale ends. Whatever floats your boat as far as GPU goes just understand that AMD isn't even half as bad as people make them out to be when it comes to performance or driver support because it's a common misconception around here. Your RAM is already 1600MHz but because it's running in dual channel mode it will show up as each stick running at half of that in Speccy.

Not sure where else to ask this, but now that the PS4 is getting a quad core processor (I think that's what it was, might've been more), are games going to actually use more than 50% of my processor? And would that mean that games in the future might run better on PC, since they'd be optimized for multi-core processors?
Trying to pick a motherboard for my AMD FX-8350. Only have two choices, (since the shop I'm buying my parts from don't have any other AM3+ MOBOs available) which should I pick? Asus SABERTOOTH-990FX-R2 AMD Mainboard - AM3+ $205.00 or Gigabyte GA-990FXA-D3 Mainboard - AM3+ $145.00
Gigabyte, no reason to spend more for the ASUS, half the features never get used and the only reason they charge so much is the stupid thermal shield.
what made you choose the 8350 over the 3570k
8350 is cheaper for my budget and I plan on doing video editing, rendering and streaming and not just purely gaming. I also want to future proof because I heard the upcoming PS4 titles use 8-cores and I thought an 8-core processor would be good to have if it ever gets ported to PC.
I got $1572 back in tax returns, so what is the most awesome, while not ridiculously overpriced graphicscard out there ?
Get a 670

Still going to run better on PC, though, since the PS4 is using AMD's equivalent to the Atom core, not even Bulldozer.
