Yep, that will work just fine. The only thing you don't want to do is use 1.65v ram, but that's not very common anymore.
You guys are awesome. Appreciate the quick and informative answers!
I undervolted my AMD Phenom II x4 965 to 1.35V to lower temperatures, could I possibly go lower and still be stable?
I undervolted my AMD Phenom II x4 965 to 1.35V to lower temperatures, could I possibly go lower and still be stable?
Possibly, yes. But possibly not. You'll have to try to find out. Then again, AMD lists voltages as "0.850-1.425V" (source) so you can quite likely go a lot lower. Just make sure to test for stability.
What is the best way to remotely control a computer using another over Local Area Network? I'm probably gonna use a lot of wrong terminology here, but bear with me. Basically, I want to send the mouse and keyboard input into the computer being controlled, and receive the video and audio data from the computer being controlled. So the computer being controlled would be doing all the video processing / computing / whatever the word is. As far as I know the built-in remote desktopping in W7 doesn't do this. Any suggestions?

No. Teamviewer does this, there's also a RDP tool that recently got abit of attention because oyu can stream games fairly well through it.
Teamviewer ist #ein
Do you mean nummer eins aka number one?
If the last time I used my thermal paste was like, 4-5 years ago, do I need to buy a new batch?
I'm considering selling some old hardware, it's been used moderately on gaming for about 2-3 years. I've got the following: -EZCool 600W power supply -A motherboard I don't know the name of -Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.00GHz 4Mb Cache, 1333MHz FSB -4GB dual channel DDRII 667 Corsair Value Select memory -NVIDIA 8800GTX All in working condition and never been overclocked. How much do you think I should sell for? I'm considering starting at £150. How's that? 5ms v 2ms? I think the current monitor I'm using is from 2007 is 5ms. I'm just curious as to if its worth spending the extra $50 on response time because ghosting on this monitor pisses me off when playing games or if I won't even notice it.

My friend has been looking for a computer that can run Autodesk Inventor efficiently. His budget is <$1000, but he wants it to be <$700. I've been helping him with my limited knowledge of hardware. I found it for $200 on Newegg, but it seems it's been discontinued now. He can find it at a local store, though, for full price.
Nevermind found my answer

If you're intimidated by building your own PC, don't be. It's almost literally like putting legos together.

Also, I'm a PC gamer so gaming is a plus but I might bring my desktop to college with me later on.

Windows is more than 16GB so it's pretty pointless to have that.
lol
Yes I know it sounds silly. But I'm not talking about the CPU cache (6MB). A 16GB SSD sound kind of useless in my opinion.
exactly right
If size is part of the problem just make a small itx build or something or micro ATX it isnt that hard to do just ask us for help on what to get basically.
What if he needs to take it to classes
Oh damn I mixed up the posters involved in it My bad hrm lappies... I would wait until the haswells lappies are out or at least at a price range comfortable for you, The battery consumption is going to be worth it in the long run unless it one of those schools that dislike having laptops in classes.
Didn't know that there were unis who disliked laptops in classes. What are we going to use? Pen and paper? AFAIK there aren't any scientologist or islamist colleges in the US that disapprove of modern technology [editline]6th June 2013[/editline] Yeah just wait for Haswell and get something with more than 16 gigs for a main partition
How long until they're released? Will it be that much of a difference? Do you have any other recommendations for the time being?
