How big of a psu will I need with a build like this? I wanna overclock a bit, trying for 4.1-4.4ghz, gonna put in a few fans obviously and there's gonna be some permanently plugged in usb devices. I'm thinking a 600 maybe?
If you want to overclock you sure aren't gonna do it on H77, you need a Z77/Z68 board A 500-600w power supply will do fine

The gigabyte board is 25 bucks cheaper than the anus!

Just from a requirement standpoint, you could use a 300W PSU with that build and be fine, the only issue there is that PSU manufacturers don't make power supplies under 500W with half decent amounts of connectors. The XFX linked above will be plenty.

Also I noticed that PSU is 80 plus bronze, is it okay to spend a few more bucks and get a gold one, like this roswill: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182068 I don't want too much heat, this is gonna be living in a little bedroom. Also, do psu's auto switch for 110 vs 230 volt mains? I don't see many with switches anymore.
Anyone wanna recommend me a decent lightweight twitter client? Preferably something that just sits on my taskbar and does push notifications and maybe a little feed. Open to using Rainmeter or some other BS if it's good enough. Win8 32bit(shitty desktop) and Win7 32bit(really shitty netbook)

Can anyone recommend some Z87 motherboards, similar to the ASUS Maximus VI Hero in price/performance/features? I know ASUS usually produce solid boards but I've been hearing some unpleasant stories about their RMA, especially through Scan which I'll probably end up ordering from. [editline]7th June 2013[/editline] Specifically, I was looking at the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H

I have issues with MSi and Gigabyte, like my MSi board that can take 30 seconds to post sometimes, or a Gigabyte board that i've RMA'd 3 times and it's still dysfunctional. The power supply says 90-236V, so yes i assume it auto switches, Rosewill PSUs are sketchy.

Thanks for all the help too btw.

Am i to assume the pro is built from better components?

I would go with the pro for the 3 year warranty alone, 1 year will come a lot faster than you think. edit: also more fan headers, which you'll definitely want in a small case like the one you picked edit 2: speaking of cooling, you're not gonna get away with much of an OC on the stock cooler, if any, but that case is REALLY small and no matter what cooler you can cram in there, it's gonna run hot

If not It's no big deal I guess, the non overclocking chip price difference isn't very much. Edit: I just actually took a look at the case and measured, I'm gonna need a short cooler(4in I estimate), in that case you're probably right! That leads to another question, can non k-series chips have their voltages lowered?
DEFINITELY go for the XFX.
I don't know why you emphasized the definitely, the capstone series is higher quality
Is piping the heat from the cpu straight into the power supply bad for it? I feel like it would be but it is my only option :/ The most appealing fits for my case are: ZALMAN CNPS 7500 Cu LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler Or this fanless block: SILVERSTONE NT06-E 1 x 120mm fan (optional) CPU Cooler It looks like it would bump right up the The psu, think it would be okay sharing a fan like that? Or would the zalman be a better choice, any recommendations welcome! Also, at this rate should I Go ahead and start a pc build thread?
I prefer tower style coolers, but if those won't fit in your case those should be fine.
I prefer tower style coolers, but if those won't fit in your case those should be fine.
I think I have a whopping 3-4 inches to work with :/
So I just finished building my new computer and installed windows 8 pro, only to find out that the key i got when windows 8 was new (back when it was $40) was a one time activation and upgrade only (even though i did a fresh install). Now i cannot activate it as it used up and phone support will not help me, so if i go to the store and buy a new copy could i input the key without re installing again?
I think I have a whopping 3-4 inches to work with :/
that's what she said anyway i think you should pick a different case if you're going to OC, you're going to cook your shit
I don't know why you emphasized the definitely, the capstone series is higher quality
Capstone is basically Superflower rebrands iirc, and they use Nippon Checmicon. Pretty great PSUs for the price.
I'm thinking of buying a NAS (this) and I'm wondering if I'd be able to stream MKVs from that on my PS3 using this? I know it's discontinued, but it seems good and I can get it so it fits my budget nicely with 2x 3TB WD Reds.
I tried the PC building subforum but that forum moves awful slow and I'm looking to get my stuff ordered this weekend. I'm building a PC in a very small case and I'm wondering if I can get a quick critique of what I'm doing. Here's the stuff I'm looking at. Unfortunately with the case I'm limited to a 140mm max PSU length, less if I get something modular or it will run into the video card.
Everything looks pretty good, I would just change a few things. 1. The TB drive looks good, but I highly recommend an SSD for Windows. If you haven't used an SSD yet, its a night and day difference. 2. I don't know what resolution you'll be gaming at, but make sure that GTX 770 will perform well at your resolution. Typically some of the beefier cards preform worse at lower resolutions. I haven't looked at the GTX benchmarks. But I know it was the case for the 7950/7970. I highly recommend an 840, or 840 Pro series SSD. 120/128GB should be fine for a Windows + your favorite game drive. I also wouldn't recommend a modular PSU with that case since everything is enclosed, unless you want it to look nice on the inside, despite you being the only one to see it. Usually I get modular PSU's when I do window'd builds.
Why does this pop-up every time I go to YouTube?
It's trying to open a frame from G+ (your account picture maybe, or the +1 thing, or something, it's impossible to tell), but it's getting all confused and trying to open it as a download. The "0 bytes" thing makes me think there's a bug in whichever frame it's trying to render.
I don't know specifics but are you on a wired or wireless connection and is your wireless connection fast enough for it?
I'm on a wireless connection and I don't really know the lan speeds, if that's what you're asking Also, how would subtitles work? Update: I've been looking at the DS213J and I've found that at a price which I think would be acceptable. Do you think that it would be better for me?
