anyway to use my fingerprint scanner on my 9150 to log in to websites?
I mean anything is possible. If you built the websites and made it communicate with a web api language like c# im sure it could be done.
anyway to use my fingerprint scanner on my 9150 to log in to websites?
Check the software that came with the system. On my old laptop, there was a fingerprint-based password manager. It didn't work too well, though, so I disabled it. Otherwise, no.
Need a laptop for college. I will be editing video and doing normal college things. Budget is ~$1,500. Battery should last a least 4 hours without being plugged in (just for general web surfing and taking notes, not gaming/video editing and rendering. Also, it should not be overwhelmingly loud when not plugged in (For the sake of classes) I was looking into the lenovo Y510p, but someone told me the graphics card didn't work well with OpenGL which is what Adobe CS6 uses to render previews. (After effects and Premiere) I'm not against getting a MacBook Pro or something but a friend said it's only worth it if you get retina display. But the prices for retina are a little high for what's inside and it doesn't really justify itself. Any other suggestions or do you think the Y510p will work?

Im not really good with specs so could someone tell me which one of these is more powerful? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215974 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834312434
So I just installed Avast antivirus after hearing a lot of recommendations for it, and before I register with it for the free aspect, does anybody have anything I should know? I'm trying to get rid of the Google Drive it installed on my computer right now. So yeah, suggestions? Is there a better free antivirus I should be getting?

Tied in video card and screen, beats it in CPU, RAM, hard drive and battery.
anyway to use my fingerprint scanner on my 9150 to log in to websites?
There's this guide for integrating fingerprint readers with KeePass, but it's for Lenovo.
Hey guys, I'm looking for a laptop for University this fall. I'm looking for something that's durable. I don't need crazy specs and I don't do much gaming. The two brands I've been looking at are ASUS and Lenovo. I'm fine with using outdated tech 4 years down the road (Using a Dell Inspiron 6000 at the moment), so long as things like the hard drive and screen are intact. Are there any models you guys would recommend? EDIT: I'm planning on using an Ubuntu dual boot, so bloatware won't be an issue
if I get a standard 'blu ray' disk drive to plug into my laptop, will it also be able to read software and game CDs?
if I get a standard 'blu ray' disk drive to plug into my laptop, will it also be able to read software and game CDs?
Pretty much every Blu-Ray drive will also read DVDs and CDs. I've never seen one that can't.
Pretty much every Blu-Ray drive will also read DVDs and CDs. I've never seen one that can't.
I'd go as far as blidnly claiming that it is part of the standard. I mean hell, every possible use for blu-rays warrants DVD support. Data, Movies/Entertainment and probably anything niche there is.
Does anyone know if this http://minhtrimatrix.deviantart.com/art/Elune-199350232 windows 7 theme will work with windows 8?
No. It has a start button.
My grandad wants to install windows 7 on his windows 8 laptop because he can't get used to windows 8 (I asked him to give it some time) Can I just throw in my windows 7 CD and choose to boot from it?
My grandad wants to install windows 7 on his windows 8 laptop because he can't get used to windows 8 (I asked him to give it some time) Can I just throw in my windows 7 CD and choose to boot from it?
Yes and no. It depends on what you want to do. If you don't want to save any user data, you can just pop the disc in, boot to it, and perform a clean install. If you do want to keep all user data, you can't downgrade from a later version of Windows to an earlier version. You'll have to do a wipe-and-load migration. 1. Copy any files your grandfather wants to keep to a removable device 2. Insert Windows 7 disc 3. Boot to it 4. Perform a custom installation over the Windows 8 install 5. Move files from removable device back over to the computer
I don't want to save any data, I just want windows 7 on this laptop, but he keeps sending me links worrying because they say it can't be done easily
What's the exact model?
I don't want to save any data, I just want windows 7 on this laptop, but he keeps sending me links worrying because they say it can't be done easily
If simply installing over it isn't an option, I would just format the hard disk in Windows PE, and then install Windows 7. Or you could shrink the space on his C drive, create a new partition with the unused space, and install Windows 7 on that so he has both of them. From Windows 7, you could remove Windows 8 entirely, and then you can just extend the Windows 7 volume onto the space previously taken up by Windows 8.
I don't want to save any data, I just want windows 7 on this laptop, but he keeps sending me links worrying because they say it can't be done easily
If laptop then you might have driver issues. Also, you need a windows 7 license.
I have a 7 disk with a use left on it I can't find out the exact details for the laptop right now, but I will be able to soon, I'll come back and ask again then thanks guys
Okay, I just got an incredible amount of graphical fragmentation in a simple gamed called HL2/Gmod. I'm running it on a GTX570 which have done many demanding games decently, i5-2500k, 4gb of RAM, W7, etc. Note that it's pretty dusty inside the computer. I couldn't get any reliable celsius figures from any of the softwares except something like 53c after shutting down the game and opening up the case, but when trying with finger on a metallic screw on the graphics card, it p. much burns. So, could it be that the graphics card is dying? or just dusty? i'm gonna try getting the thing out tomorrow and dusting it out, but i'm assuming the lifespan of this graphics card is nearing its end?
Can you mix a 2GB GTX680 with a 4GB 680 in SLI?
Is this worth the price? http://www.xi3.com/buy_now-piston.php
Is this worth the price? http://www.xi3.com/buy_now-piston.php
Not really. What did you want to do with it?
Not really. What did you want to do with it?
I ain't going to buy it. I was just wondering :P
I'm currently shopping for my first ssd and I'm wondering of these two which one would perform better and last longer. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226372 Mushkin Enhanced Chronos http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227758 OCZ Agility 3
I'd recommend you to spend your money on a Samsung 840 Series: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147190 They are the best SSDs around at the moment
