Okay, I had this issue where my screen would flicker black for a second, then the display changing back to normal.
I switched monitors, and suddenly the problem was fixed. I am now using an older monitor, and the newer monitor is rocking on an older PC and it's not flickering black anymore either.
So, what the hell could it be? I can't have my wide-screen HD monitor on the better PC because it suffered from this problem, but the problem goes away when switching monitors. WTF?
I tried to search for this similar problems but there was nothing really.
Wait, you can't use a geforce, so you're going to use something before the Geforce name? That's pretty damn old.
It's a Mac, and even though I spend 90% of my time in Windows, I'd still like to be able to boot into OS X without physically switching my video cards. The last OS X-compatible GeForce cards were in the 100 series, as far as I can tell, with the exception of certain Quadro cards. Apple seems to be firmly in the AMD camp - they sell 5770s and 5870s, there's a custom 7950 that works, and quite a few others, like my 6870, mostly-work (shows nothing during EFI boot, but works everywhere else - I keep the original X1900 around for diagnosing boot issues).
I didn't really think the PhysX card would work. Just sort of an idle thought that crossed my mind, and when I saw how cheap they are on eBay, I figured I could check into them more.
I suppose I could use a GeForce card as a pure PhysX card, but something tells me mixing AMD and Nvidia drivers is going to work poorly.
I have an HP w1907 monitor and when I press the power button to turn it off or brush dust off the screen, it feels really hot. Is it ok/normal for monitors to run really hot?
What's the best cheap 1080p monitor? Looking for one to replace this 5:4 thing. Preferably sub £100, I've seen a few around by big manufacturers for that price but I'm just not sure which is the best.
Are there any programs out there that I can use to change the brightness of the LEDs in my chassis? I used to use nvdia control panel to access my motherboard and change it, but I accidentally deleted the program when I updated to Win8 and since I'm using an AMD card I can't use nvidia driver software to just install it
Anywhere besides Craigslist I should troll for a university laptop for this fall? I really only have a budget of $200 or so, it's not important enough to spend real money but I think it would be useful to have one.

Craigslist is perfect, for $200 you can pickup some pretty nice thinkpads.
This TV good for the price?

In the USA. I needed a TV with 3+ HDMI ports, Composite Video, LED/LCD, and under 250 bucks. This one seems to fit the bill just nicely with favorable reviews.
Screen turns black for a second, then back to normal.
I don't know what question to ask. Is the graphics card shit ?
So, I read up on overclocking and followed a guide by Gigabyte (which is what my motherboard is) on how to overclock to 4Ghz. I thought 4Ghz was a bit excessive so I set the BCLK to 180 instead, which would have given 3.6Ghz. I also didn't like the idea of setting the voltage so high so I set vcore to 1.3125 and QPI/VVT to 1.375, I've seen people get higher speeds out of the same processor (i7 920) with much less voltage than that!
Anyway, I hit save and my PC died down, then kept rebooting and dying every few seconds causing mass panic. I turned the power off at the mains and pressed the clear CMOS button on the back of my motherboard, upon booting back up it asked me if I wanted to go back to the last known good configuration, I said yes and wiped buckets of sweat from my forehead - that was terrifying!
What went wrong though?
What are some uses for dual monitors besides better workflow for software and mumble for fullscreen?

My friend plays a game on one screen and watches a film on the other!

Look up stuff related to your game. For example in LoL check up on how the heck the champion works (if you do randoms) or in WoW look up help for quests.
If I do homework I usually have info on one screen and then word on the other. Also helps the eye by you not having to alt+tab all the time.

Also do this all the time - for youtube too
Oh, that stuff sounds pretty handy actually :v:
Unrelated - I'm trying to install the Phantom Menace game to relive my childhood and this is happening

I've tried compatibility mode and it didn't work

Setting clock speed too high with voltage too low will make a computer crash instantly, with some other minor settings also being able to screw a computer up like that. Processors have "good batches" and "bad batches" which overclock more or less on the same voltage depending on your luck, but some of them are fussy with minor settings not being quite right.
Just keep reading and experimenting.
Asus P7P55D Pro Mobo with i7 860 cpu in excellent working order, can be seen working,
Comes with complete with back plate ,Stock coller and 16gb DDR3 Ram ( 2 x Corsair xms3 4gb & 2 x Transcend 4gb)
Is this bundle worth £180?
Thinking of buying myself DisplayFusion Pro, as I regularly use a multiple monitor setup. Do you think it is worth the $25. Or is there a better program out there for a better price?

Don't think there's a better program. Do you use DisplayFusion atm? And what do you really need it for?
I've been running dual monitors for a shit load of years - used DisplayFusion for over a year and realised I didn't really need it in the first place. And with Windows Aero there's even less reasons to do it.

I use 3 monitors 95% of the time. Been trying out displayfusion this evening and I am finding it quite useful, as I generally have multiple windows up, so it is quite handy to have the multi window task bar.
I just use Actual Multiple Monitors or alternately just install Windows 8 and they work but I hear displayfusion is good too
I would install windows 8, but I put my key on my laptop.
Might give displayfusion a trial for a bit, see how it goes.
I just bought a 6970 for $100 off craigslist and it's installed, working fine. I want to make sure that my 600w OCZ powersupply that I've had for four years won't die due to it. I ran a single 4870 on it for those four years. This is probably the best upgrade I've ever gotten for the price, too.

600w will be more than enough.
I was planning on getting a 120hz monitor for counterstrike cos of the hype my friends have been giving me. They say its much smoother and much much nicer to play on, I can run csgo at over 150fps stable uncapped but I was wondering if it would be better to upgrade my HD6870 which idles at 58 degrees for some reason ( not a case airflow issue ) to a gtx 760 and maybe waiting a while. I already have a 1080p monitor although its only a standard 60hz.
The way I see it is that a 120hz monitor wont make me a better player but my friends who have their benQ monitors say if i can run csgo at a stable framerate there is no point in upgrading my graphics card.
Im thinking that getting the gfx card will be better for my system temps/better for the new games coming out along side the new consoles, and i expect much smoother all around performance.
I appreciate any insight people have on this! Right now it is an "either/or" situation.

Like 98% of my second monitor function is movies, TV, iTunes, and Netflix while I'm doing stuff on the main monitor. It would drive me nuts not to have it.

Just get the gpu instead. But actually, it may be able to make you a better player - since you might have missed something in your quick movements or that guy who you could only see a snippet of. But yeah - make sure you can keep over 120 ALL the time first (with good settings)

Hmm, going to reinstall tommorow - what was the name of that program where you picked out which things it had to download and then it installed it all?
Got a second hand Quadro 4000 card and it's 86C at idle WTF. Should get an allen Key to open the head sink and clean it out or do I have any other options?
BTW not getting into a Quadro vs Geforce debate, I know what the difference is.

I'd try dusting it out first, and if that doesn't work, I'd replace the thermal paste.
