Perhaps update network drivers or maybe you have some torrents going?
I don't have any torrents running, I don't even have any torrents at all actually. Drivers are up to date, but how would that be affecting the WiFi on my router?
Your desktop might be running in B mode perhaps and slowing it down significantly to 11Mbps.
My desktop does not use WiFi itself, and rather is directly connected with a cable to the router. My standard speed is 11Mbps.
What programs do you have running in the background? Do you have Norton or something?
I'm running MSE, only programs that I leave running are just the standard programs.
Tbh, sounds like you have some virus that uses your internet
Remember MSE isn't perfect
Does it happen if you run a livecd of linux or you're just in bios?
Remember no antivirus is perfect
FTFY.
FTFY.
I meant that in a sense that although no antivirus is perfect, people seem to have put MSE on such a high pedestal that it can do no wrong
my brother has both avast and MSE installed i wouldn't have even noticed if i didn't get a drive by trojan while waiting for adblock to install [editline]29th June 2013[/editline] normally i find multiple antivirus programs conflict but these two are playing nicely i'm kind of impressed
Tbh, sounds like you have some virus that uses your internet
I'm not too sure how to get the virus out, tried running both Mae and mbam in safe mode to no avail. What other anti virus programs are there? [editline]29th June 2013[/editline] NetWorks if this helps in any way

On Windows, can I change the scale of the volume mixer? I mean, like change what "100%" means? Because I just got a USB headset, and 2% volume is already pretty loud, and 20% kills my ears. And the volume control on the headset directly controls the mixer. So there's almost no room to control the volume.
Okay, my friend wants to sell me his 7850 to replace my 6770 for 100 bucks. Would this be a worthwhile upgrade? The big problem I will probably need to buy a new case because my current one is tiny as fuck, a new PSU because my current one barely cuts it, and I'm also trying to save up for a 3DS.

They took it out in Vista and onward however.
So here's my question: Has anyone here ever used the Spring RTS engine to develop/tinker around with game ideas? Or is this the wrong thread to ask that in?
Right click volume -> Playback Devices -> Right click properties -> levels?
Umm, that doesn't solve my problem at all. It just gives me the same mixer bar.
What anti virus would you guys recommend? I've heard good things about avast and mse, but which one would you guys say is the better of the two, or which ones do you guys have to recommend?
What anti virus would you guys recommend? I've heard good things about avast and mse, but which one would you guys say is the better of the two, or which ones do you guys have to recommend?
I've used MBAM and avast for years, but recently I went with MSE and MBAM. Can't really go wrong with either imo.

So I was able to get my hands on a Playstation 1 today for really cheap, but it did not come with any cables for it. I have a AC cable that fits it that I used for my xbox, but the thing is the cable says it's rated for 250v but the console says 220-240v. Would using that cable be okay or would it have a chance of killing the PS1/me?
Hey guys, quick question, how would I go about forcing a wireless xbox 360 controller with a receiver on my computer to the second slot, or player 2?
Don't use it, the cable is going to amplify the European electric grid which provides 230V up to 250V and the PS can only take 240V which its cable multiplies up to. : No, the cable has a rating up to which point it's isolation etc. is guaranteed to work, it's a maximum rating. The PS has it's operating range listed, which again, the supplied voltage needs to meet for guaranteed performance. So The cable can take voltages from 0-250V, the PS needs a voltage between 220 and 240 V. Now the power that comes out of your wall socket would ideally be 230 V, but you can go anywhere from 220-240 anyway. tl;dr: No, a cable with normed plugs won't kill you.
Oh, that stuff sounds pretty handy actually :v: Unrelated - I'm trying to install the Phantom Menace game to relive my childhood and this is happening I've tried compatibility mode and it didn't work
It's probably a 16-bit program and you're on 64-bit Windows.
Is there a program which can hide cores or threads from certain programs?
Is there a program which can hide cores or threads from certain programs?
Just do Task manager > right click program > set affinity?
Just do Task manager > right click program > set affinity?
I need one that does it when the program starts.
I'm looking for a laptop for college that's somewhat light, thin, and running with a Haswell. I've primarily been looking at the Asus Vivobook S551LB and am wondering if there's anything in a similar price range that would be better or if there is some issue with it. I'm also hoping this is the right place to ask this.
Mind if you share a download link? Google-fu seems to be completely useless.
Found it (it was with an X): http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/ (and ironically, the folks at Hak5 did a tip show about this)
