What is a good modem and router? I bought one of the modems that has a built in router and its working like crap. It might also be comcast, but several times now I have had the connection drop down to 1mbps or drop entirely.
The event log does show several "Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast maintenance opportunities". Which doesn't really say much. People seem to equally complain about modem+isp.
Really? 560 Ti should be comparable to PS4
Ps4 gets low level optimisation, pc games don't.
go rub your hands on the front of a corsair 800D.
it gets messy FAST
Yeah I have a 650D with the same brushed aluminum bezel as the 800D and it becomes a fucking MESS around the power button/usb ports.
What's a good email client for working with multiple email accounts? For work, I'm now supposed to use one address for talking to one set of clients, and another address for another group of clients. And I suppose being able to use my personal email as well would work.
Since they're all GMail accounts, my previous approach had been using multiple browsers - Chrome for my work email, Firefox for my personal. But with three accounts, it's getting to be too much.
Basically, all it really needs to do is show emails from two or more accounts, preferably in a way that lets me easily see which they were sent to (folders works), and to easily pick which account to send emails from. GMail doesn't seem to be able to do that smoothly.
I haven't used dedicated email clients in years - last one was Outlook Express, way back in high school. And I used to use Thunderbird for something, but a) it kind of sucked back then, and b) I've heard it's being discontinued.
Thunderbird motherfucker.

I use Postbox.. I love it
I also like the way it handles dialogs
Thunderbird is one of my favourites. Tons of addons, easy to use, fast.
Opera's new 'Opera Mail' standalone Email client is looking pretty nice too.
If you're willing to pay, Postbox looks really neat and Outlook 2013 isn't half that bad.
Just set up Thunderbird. Seems to work well for the multi-account stuff, although actually reading emails doesn't work as well as GMail's threaded view. I'll fiddle around with addons, though.
So I installed MotoCross Madness 2 (Such a great game :v: ) and it decided to fuck up everything aero-wise.
It turned off aero because it's from like '99, which is acceptable (I ran it with XP SP2 compatibility) and after force closing the program because it froze up on me, I'm stuck in W7 Basic. Changing themes to an aero theme doesn't work, "Aero peek" is greyed out but checked under the taskbar properties, and Microsoft's Diagnostic says that I need an aero-compatible video card.... I'm running a 7880.
How would one rectify this, because the dull blue/grey theme is making my want to claw my eyes out.
Edit: I *did* restart and install the game but to no avail.
-snipped, my problem was magically fixed over night, it only took two days-
Is it possible to swap Mouse 4 and 5 on my generic mouse? I'm currently using a backup mouse that, for some reason, has the reverse setup of buttons from every other mouse I've used.

What's a good site to buy electronics like relays, temp sensors, movement sensors and such? Need some stuff for a project.

Also, can someone recommend a good network HDD or network HDD enclosure? 1TB at least.

Reliable gigabit wireless router that can use tomato, DD-WRT, or other open source firmware as well!
I'm having a bit of a problem with my new monitor. When I first plugged it in, the screen wasn't filling properly, there were black edges around the screen, but I went into the Catalyst Control Center and enabled scaling and made it fill the screen, but it still doesn't seem to fill it when running some games.

It's plugged in by HDMI by the way
How would I go about putting a Windows 8 iso on a usb from Ubuntu and then booting into it?
I got the iso from the official download site with another computer, and then I put the iso on this computer.
What's the best ISP to go for in the UK? My parents are with BT right now and they're considering switching to someone else like Sky.

If you can get the BT fibre optic service, that. I hear it's awesome.
I've heard consistently good reports about Be Broadband as well.
Not sure about Sky, you'll have to look at reviews for that.
Virgin Media is alright but has lots of traffic management on lower tiers and quite a bit on higher tiers.
I bought a Micro-ATX mobo a while back because it was cheap and came with 8GB RAM free, but I don't think it quite meets my needs. How does this one look?

It's a Shell Shocker deal right now so I think I'll hop on it, but I wanted more opinions first.
-snip wrong thread-
I have plenty of broken MicroSD cards, anybody know what I could do with them? Some heat up, some don't do anything. Maybe some amazing thing could save them, no?

Whatever you do don't give them to your dog for dinner
Does anyone here have the 2013 Macbook Air?
I'm thinking about getting one.
Agree - Good Idea
Disagree - Get something else
I'm looking for Lightweight, portable, great battery.
So what could have caused my computer to become unresponsive to not only Alt Tab and Ctrl Alt Delete, but the reset button on my case as well?
The closest thing I can find in the event log is CS6ServiceManager.exe having an issue within ntdll.dll, though it's difficult to tell if Windows itself screwed up or if Adobe goofed with a Windows system call.

I need some input before the deal is up.

What's your current motherboard, and how doesn't it fit your needs?

This is it. I don't like it because of only 2 RAM slots, only 1 PCIe slot, no USB 3.0, no 6.0 Gb/s, plus I just think micro-ATX in a mid-size tower with a window looks goofy.
I have plans on throwing it into a small build for my family if I get a new one.

Plus a lot of the reviews say stuff gets covered up by the GPU or an aftermarket heatsink.
I'm looking for a microphone that won't pick up much background noise that picks up the bass in my voice well, somewhere between £20 and £50? I'm not sure if anything like that's available for that price range.
[editline]13th July 2013[/editline]
Maybe even a headset with a mic like that, in which case price could probably be bumped up a bit. I don't have experience/room for a desk mic but if absolutely necessary...

Might I suggest something from the Acer's "Aspire TimelineU" series? Great computer, similar proportions, LIGHTER if you can believe it, and you'll probably be able to get a more powerful one for the same price. I'm typing on one right now, and I could go play Skyrim or Arma if I wanted... Not sure if you're a gamer, but that's a pretty big perk on a laptop that's easy to take on a bus or into a classroom.

Personally, i'll always go apple for laptops, but never in a trillion years for a desktop. Mostly because when it comes to a laptop, you don't just pay for the raw performance, but useability, utility, portability and unfortunately with everyone but Apple, a fuckload of bloatware that makes your purchase useless unless you got the brains to clean it all up... and you'll still be stuck with a shit trackpad and a plastic case that holds onto heat and breaks easily.
Guys, I'm trying to narrow down the culprit in my PC which is causing power surges. Naturally, I first looked at the PSU. Whenever I'm playing graphic-intense games, such as Anno 2070 or Napoleon: Total War (Highest settings and AA on both), I get power surges every time, without fail! Here's my PSU:

Is there anything wrong with that? As far as I'm aware, the wattage is high enough to service my GTX560 TI. I'm stumped, really. I thought I was going to open my PC up and find a PSU unit that was too low wattage or something, but to open up my PC and find that I put a decent PSU in that can manage my GPU's needs? I don't know what can be causing these power surges.
I know it's caused by graphic intense games, as lowering settings to Medium or Low in both games (Anno and N:TW) allows me to play for hours without a hitch, but the minute I turn it up to High settings, within ten to fifteen minutes my Mobo will force-shutdown to prevent damage from the power surge.
Any help would be recommended. I even went and bought an APC to hopefully deal with the power surges from the socket my PC was plugged into. That hasn't helped. My mobo is an ASUS P8H77-V.
what do you mean power surges?
