I have a MBP with Windows 7 Ultimate on my Bootcamp partition. My MBP has the following specs: Nvidia 650m 1GB Intel i7 @ 2.6 ghz (Quad Core) 8GB 750GB 7200 RPM HDD I noticed about 2 months ago when I went to play Dead Island that I had massive lag spikes to the point where the game would be unplayable. It would be perfectly smooth for 2 seconds then lag then go unresponsive and then smooth again. I googled this issue and it was not specific to DI because I tried it with a few other games and had the same issues but not as severe as DI. So I searched some more and on a forum someone suggested a command line prompt command that had something to do with de-fragmentation and it took about 15 minutes to complete and then everything was working beautifully as it should. (There was a time a few months before that problem where it was smooth so it wasnt the hardware) The problem has recently occured again. This time it isnt so bad in DI and its *just about* playable and FC 3 is just plain unplayable. Its perfectly smooth + 60 FPS for a few seconds and then the FPS goes waaaaaaaaaayyyyy down for a few seconds then smooth again. Now I cand find that bloody command I entered. I tried my chrome history, no. I tried googling what I thought I googled last time, no. Please help me out! What was it that I could of entered into CMD that helped? I have tried doing a quick defrag and that didnt do a thing..

I have tried doing a quick defrag and that didnt do a thing..
To defragment a hard disk in Windows 7, you can just right click on the disk you want to defrag (read: the disk with your games on it), select Properties, click the Tools tab, and push "Defragment now." [editline]27th July 2013[/editline] The actual command line tool is defrag.exe. Just open command prompt as administrator, and type "defrag.exe /?" to get a list of switches to use with it if you prefer to use the command-line alternative.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask (I suppose it does, because my question is software-related), but in Flash, is there a way to repeat a scene over and over once you get to it and not the whole flash as an entirety? I'm new to actionscript so the only things I know how to do are create buttons. A visual since I'm bad at explaining things:
Depends on your Flash project. If you're using a remotely recent version, your project probably uses ActionScript 3. Enter the line in the script panel for the frame scene two ends on...
this.gotoAndPlay(frame_number_scene_2_starts);
Otherwise on an older version, ActionScript 2 removes the this. prefix as the frame is an object itself in AS3.
gotoAndPlay(frame_number_scene_2_starts);
whats a good netbook in the sub 300 dollar range (or near it) it's just going to be used for light stuff (no gaming or anything)

Great free backup software? Just got a 3tb external HDD, the included software is crap :v: Thanks!
Great free backup software? Just got a 3tb external HDD, the included software is crap :v: Thanks!
Windows Backup and Restore, there is no reason not to use it. It creates a system image so if your OS becomes corrupt, you can easily restore it without performing a complete wipe-and-load, and you can even specify what files you want to include in the backup.
Regarding the two laptops, Should I jump on this or could I get a better deal on say Black Friday.
I honestly don't know how much better it can get. Really, the only thing that could get better is the GPU, but any better than a 660M and you're likely looking at prices well over $1,000.
so i have a problem with my headphones that i know for sure is related just to these headphones if i bump the cable, but only the part of it close to the jack itself, the sound will cut out for a second, this isn't a huge problem except for when i'm playing some games some games will no longer use the headphones, but my speakers will suddenly start working if i have the headphones open in the control panel i'll also get a message saying the device has been removed so what's going on? is the cable just bad or something? i've tested it with my older headphones and those didn't have this problem

You should be able to go into your soundcards control panel and separate the front and rear audio outputs so that you have two. Then set the headphones to default. Then you can just set the speakers to default when you want ti use them. You could also set certain programs to use the speakers and others to use the headphones.

I've been trying to re-enable Windows 7 Aero on my comp but for some reason it isn't working. I've tried installing custom themes before (replacing explorer.exe) and I don't know what to do now. I've used the default troubleshooter, a Microsoft fix and a method through cmd (uxsms service) and none of those have worked. I've tried rolling back my NVidia drivers but that still doesn't work. Help?
What version of windows 7?
Ultimate 64bit
Ultimate 64bit
Do you remember what custom themes(or theme manager) you used? If you modified windows files, that could be the problem, and I could help you get the originals. If it's not that, the only thing I can think is pirated versions disable aero I think, make sure your copy is legit / activated.
got another question i've been wanting to install CM 10.1 on my 2nd gen kindle fire, but i could only find a couple of guides on how to do it and both sucked ass, including the official one from the developer every guide i found doesn't explain everything in detail and will tell me i need something but then not go into any detail of what it is i need, i'd really like just one comprehensive guide that can run me through the entire process from start to finish and cover every detail anyone know where i could find one?

Even getting off the theme I still have the custom navigation buttons. Windows is definitely still activated.
Not sure if this deserves a thread or not, but.. for example Diablo 3, it has vSync and also allows you to cap your fps to 60. The question is, why do games still incorporate vsync? why not just have the option to cap at 60 or whatever number you want? I know you can use MSI afterburner and programs alike if a game doesn't have the option to cap, but the only difference between the 2, is that vSync just gets rid of the screen tearing and that's it?
Vsync forces the frames to be exported when the monitor refreshes the screen. So that in ideal circum stances each refresh has a new frame entirely without any partial frames. So yes, that has been the entire purpose of Vsync forever. Capping your FPS is for those that don't care about tearing, but want less mouse lag and just want to keep the FPS from getting out of hand.
Any easy-to-use websites that allow anonymous upload and download of files, and maybe a folder structure too? I need something like that so my classmates can upload school files to a single place and I can keep it organized/updated.

would anyone here know of a huge desktop icon database, specifically one with themed collections?
CIPWTTKT didn't notice my question so I'll post it here instead. Is the 650 Ti Boost worth the price difference between it and the 650 Ti, it's a pretty small amount.
