What are the go-to and not-go-to brands when it comes to cases? [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] Also, I'm pretty sure this isn't the sort of performance my SSD should be having, right? [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] Obviously not, it seems.
Whats a good replacement for hirens boot cd? Having some trouble using it on newer systems.( programs often refuse to detect HDD's or simple give some other error.)
Hello there, I have a question. My ole' samsung 2243 lnx which I was very satisfied with has served it's time, and I'm looking for a new monitor, although I have no idea what to look for. The thing is that I'd want it to have HDMI support (since my current monitor doesn't) to use it for my PC and my PS3. What would be absolutely lovable is if I could switch from my PC to my PS3 with the push of a button, but I'm not sure what I need for this. I have a GTX 260 graphics card, if that matters. So, may I ask for guidance?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202011 Alternatively I might have to constrict my budget a bit, can this card still hold its weight? I'll mostly use it for gaming, but I don't really care if I can't max out the graphics or anything as long as it will work.

I'm thinking med/high at 1080p 60fps
I'm trying to build a kinda good PC for my BBF, but its the first time I build one, so sorry for the noob questions. -How do you get rid of static? Touching anything made out of metal? -What is better? Two RAM cards of 4GB each, or one card of 8GB?
I'm trying to build a kinda good PC for my BBF, but its the first time I build one, so sorry for the noob questions. -How do you get rid of static? If you are really concerned, buy an anti-static wrist strap - usually pretty cheap, like $5. The RAM is a trickier issue. With two cards, you will be able to take advantage of the dual-channel memory controller your computer almost certainly will have, which results in a significant improvement in memory bandwidth. But, if you only have two memory slots (not likely, but not impossible), that will significantly hamper your upgrade path, as you would have to get rid of your existing RAM and buy new, bigger RAM if you wanted to increase capacity. If, as is most likely the case, you have four slots for memory, I would go ahead and get the 2x4GB - you get the dual-channel, and you still have two slots to use for future upgrades. If you're limited to only two, you'll have to decide between some improved performance now, and easier upgrading later.

With so many painted cases, I've seen too many people go "but I touched it!!!" Also, I'd definitely go with one 8GB piece, there isn't really that much of an improvement in speed, and it keeps your system open for far superior upgrades.
Is there a way to make a Folder automatically sync with iTunes? I have all my music in the "my music" folder on my PC But I always have manually put it on iTunes. I want it so that as soon as I drag music into the "my music" folder then it will be in my iTunes library. is this possible?
I just remember that those wi-fi chips/cards exist. But they are never mentioned on the PC building videos i have watched....

What is there to look for when buying an HDMI cable? I found some "with ethernet" but I really just need it to connect my Raspberry Pi to a TV.
What is there to look for when buying an HDMI cable? I found some "with ethernet" but I really just need it to connect my Raspberry Pi to a TV.
Just make sure it's just a high speed HDMI cable. Nothing else is entirely needed. If you're looking for a cable for a small device though I'd go for a Redmere powered cable. It lets the gauge be really small and feel like a small USB cable. I use them for my camera and laptop. And use a long 50footer for my PC. I have 3-4 of these and I love them: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10255&cs_id=1025503&p_id=9889&seq=1&format=2
So, about my question. Is it necessary to have a wi-fi card?
So, about my question. Is it necessary to have a wi-fi card?
For what? It's only "necessary" to have a WiFi card if your computer is going to be using WiFi. Some motherboards have started including them on the board itself, but you'd probably know if your motherboard did that. Otherwise, pretty much every motherboard will have Ethernet, which is faster (especially Gigabit Ethernet) and more reliable, but has the downside of using actual wires. For desktops, having one more wire isn't really an issue, which is why built-in Wifi isn't as universal as built-in Ethernet.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230987 Worth the $550? Concerned about battery life being reported at only 4.5 hours, but I guess its the tradeoff for such a rig.

The 610 is a horrible GPU, even an integrated Intel 4000 chip would be better than it. Additionally You would probably go to dislike the touchpad but that's just me. (I prefer having two distinct buttons, not just a single piece like Macs)

Its not going to be used to game hard [editline]14th August 2013[/editline] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834256454 Better option?
If I was to get a sound card (Asus, if it's of any help) would I need to do any fiddling other than the general setup of the card itself to get it to output through my HDMI port in my Nvidia graphics card?
It might be bit out of your budget but if it seems like you want Windows 8, 15.6", 6GB ram, 500GB HDD laptop I'd recommend this a bit more http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231085 In addition to the former, it has a Intel 4000 integrated graphics so its better than the 610M at least, but its also touchscreen so if you cared you could take a bit more advantage of what Windows 8 has to offer. I'm not a huge fan of the HP one you suggested because it has a pretty weak processor, and 2 less GB of ram compared to the ASUS I suggested. And the HP and the ASUS I suggested share their RAM with the GPU so losing 1/3rd of your capability would not be ideal. Additionally the ASUS is about a half pound lighter than the HP.
[del]What's a good process killer that can terminate even the most hung-up processes? (I got a stuck hl2.exe that task manager just can't seem to close)[/del] Never mind. Turns out Steam was hanging it up.
Currently running (or about to dust off): i7 2600k @ 4.0 8 GB DDR3-1600 HD 5770 1 GB 64 GB SSD / 1.5 TB HDD I want to upgrade my graphics card, however I have no idea how far outdated my equipment is as I haven't even opened newegg or anything in well over a year. What would be a reasonable $2-300 GPU upgrade that my system can handle? Should I just get a used 5770 to xfire and wait another couple years to upgrade it all? For reference I should add that my 5770 is pulling 3 screens, 2 1080p monitors through DVI and DP and a 720p TV through HDMI. I need a GPU that can handle 3 monitors (no cloning), one of which can do DP.
What's your PSU, screen resolution, and the games you want to play? [editline]14th August 2013[/editline] Nevermind misread. I would get another 5770 and save up. In a year get a single, stronger GPU because for $300 I don't think you'll get much improvement over two 5770s. [editline]14th August 2013[/editline] That's just me by the way. I'd wait for more opinions. I haven't really caught up with the newer components fully yet. It might even be better to save up an extra $200 and get a really beefy card like a 7970 or 770 if you want to do serious gaming.

If there's nothing that great in my price range on the market I'll probably just get another. Thanks for the quick reply.
Just checked Newegg, forgot they don't even sale 5770s anymore lol If you can get a used one or somehow find a new one for less than $100 I'd do it. It's not like you use all monitors at once for gaming right?
Do Arduino questions go here? I can't find the megathread. I recently had to lay a Logitech G15 to rest, and the biggest thing I miss is the mini screen. Equipped with LCD Miscellany, it's saved me countless times. The rest of the keyboard was shit though, including the price, so I'm not going to get another one. Here's a reference picture: [t]http://puu.sh/42vHB.jpg[/t] If I buy an Arduino and a TFT screen, is it possible for it to connect with a program running on the host computer which provides it with datetime, cpu/network usage, ping, etc.? Which shields/boards do I have to buy?
Does anyone know what's going on with the newest Windows 7 update? My computer just auto dl'd it and now half the shit on my computer is corrupted :v: [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] Thank god for rollbacks.
