Would exFAT be compatible with XP and Vista also?
Would exFAT be compatible with XP and Vista also?
Yes, if they're fully updated. Vista needs SP1, XP needs just a specific update. If you keep your machines updated, they should work just fine.
If the XP has KB955704 installed and if Vista has SP1 installed then yes
Bugger off ninja
I'm assuming exFAT won't be compatible with DVD players and media players right? Would multiple partitions be a good work around for that?
You should be fine, but I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about? Its just a file system like NTFS. Your compatibility with media players depends on the type of media file you're playing which the file system has no bearing on. What matters here are the file types of the media you want to play, like .mp3 or .mkv or .avi and so on. If you don't already use it, VLC plays just about everything
DVI-I and DVI-A are both capable of transmitting analog signals necessary for VGA conversion, but assuming he's only using passive adapters, the problem won't be solved by running straight out a VGA port.

I got the converter, the screen finally turns on, but it flickers (shows a frame maybe once a second) and is at a horrible resolution (1024*768 instead of 480*272), what should I do?

I'm looking at getting this monitor instead of one of the other cheaper ones on ebay because it has displayport built in, so I don't have to buy an external powered adapter to convert it. Any cons to getting this monitor instead of this?

What kind of USB connection is the one in between the VGA and the other connection claiming to be a USB?
Never seen it before.

Weird. It's on the back of my monitor. I need to plug it into a USB port on my desktop for the two extra USBs on the side to act as a hub, right?

Did you buy a cheap converter? It sounds like you bought a cheap converter.
Don't buy cheap things.
What's the best laptop for £400 for just web browsing etc?

It's common on monitors. My ZR30 has a 4 port hub on it. 2 below, two on the side. I use it for my webcam, a small card reader and my colorimeter.

Probably better off with a cheap netbook or something if it's just web browsing.
Is there such a website that lets me upload a sound clip and it will tell me the song name? A bit like ZIT on GTA.
Soundhound on my phone's always been effective
no idea about an in-browser solution though.

Chromebooks are made specifically for Web browsing and office stuff. Check it out.

Try running the converter on a different monitor, like a TV in your house, and see how it outputs. Also, the eBay page for the monitor you purchased has no information about the product itself, is there a model number and/or manufacturer printed anywhere on the monitor?
Is there a way to have synthesia use the secondary monitor instead of the primary?
So I decided that when I get my SSD, I will just take out my HDD and then install windows on the SSD. The plan is then to just attach the original HDD and manually transfer any stuff I want then just format it. There shouldn't be any problems with this should there?
Ideally I would just format the HDD first, but I want to get the stuff I want off it first.

Just make sure it doesn't try to boot from your HDD when you put it back in.

Yeah I figured that would be about it. The only other thing is I will probably want to start installing some stuff on the HDD as well. Could I just make a partition for the new stuff and then when I'm done with the old, just delete the old partition?

It'd probably be easier to find an external HDD or something to use temporarily, but that should be possible (although you'd end up with more than 1 partition in the end)

In the end couldn't I just delete the old partition then expand the new one to take up the whole drive?

I believe it depends on the ordering of space on the HDD to whether or not you can expand a partition (and the file system) but I don't know what has what limitations.
Edit: Basically I'm not sure
Here are my specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.5GHz
GTX 560 TI
8GB RAM
Corsair GS600
Would upgrading to a quad core i5 Haswell be worth it? I'd give my old processor to my brother so it wouldn't be going to waste. I know I'd need to get a new motherboard as well.
Why would you take out the old drive anyways? When you're posting just go to whatever boot options thingy (usually F8 or F12) and just select the SSD and install to it, then when you boot in after the installation's done just copy stuff over while you install your normal programs and tweak with settings and install drivers and stuff, then format it.
Is there a way to have synthesia use the secondary monitor instead of the primary?
SynthesiaConfig.exe > Video Settings > Full screen using specific video mode
Your secondary monitor is the second item in the combo box. Make sure to set the mode to something that can be displayed properly.

Windows likes to put important shit on the "first" drive, regardless of whether that's the drive you're installing to or not.
My case is going to use 7 fans, 1 being my cpu cooler. I don't know if my new mobo i'll be getting soon has enough 3 pins, what can I do so I can use all my fans? Anything besides 3 pins to those ugly 4 pin plugs IDE hdd's use.
