What's the best program for managing overclocking/underclocking nvidia cards?
What's the best program for managing overclocking/underclocking nvidia cards?
MSI afterburner worked well for me but it turns out my card is not a great overclocker, probably since it's factory OCd
its more for underclocking arma 2 is very touchy with that black screen crash thing [editline]18th August 2013[/editline] ive been told it hates laptops.
Not really sure if this is the place to ask, but can anyone recommend me a good mechanical gaming keyboard? I decided its about time I got a good keyboard since I have spent like £1500 on my PC and I still use an £8 shit keyboard. I'm looking for one for around £100 (though less is good), good for gaming. I don't know much about the switch types but I think red is good for gaming? I actually kind of like the look of the Razer Blackwidow (£90), though I usually avoid razer, anyone used one? Also I dont know what switches it uses. Thanks.

So, the lower the numbers, the fastest the RAM? (if all the other specs are the same, that is)

Sorry for so many questions. -Is it worth to buy a 60GB SSD just for booting? -Can you have a "too powerful" power source? As in, if my PC uses 500W, and I have a 600W power source, will the motherboard burn or something? Sorry if it a silly question.

Sorry if it a silly question.
Most PSUs have voltage scaling, so while they advertise 600w, those are theoretical limits. Typically, your PC won't draw nearly that much. So, no. Just buy whatever PSU you want, they'll all do their jobs safely and efficiently.
Sorry for so many questions. -Is it worth to buy a 60GB SSD just for booting? -Can you have a "too powerful" power source? Sorry if it a silly question.
1) Probably. 60GB might be a little cramped, and the small drives are both lower-performing, and a worse value in terms of dollars per gigabyte 2) No. Providing too many watts or amps will not damage the equipment, although it will be a bit less efficient. It's providing too many volts that would be dangerous, and power supplies should keep those regulated.
Sorry for so many questions. -Is it worth to buy a 60GB SSD just for booting? -Can you have a "too powerful" power source? But the PSU, if quality will regulate the volts within a safe margin.

Firefox by default tends to block 3rd party content if you are accessing a site using HTTPS. Is there any way to add exceptions for some sites? If I choose to turn it off with the option right next to the adress bar it works once but the setting is then forgotten.
Should I get a domain and some hosting and make a site? If so, which hoster? I was looking at https://lithiumhosting.com/
Is ubuntu linux safe in terms of viruses and spyware? Like is it ok to use with confidential information?
Is ubuntu linux safe in terms of viruses and spyware? Like is it ok to use with confidential information?
Depends. I'd say 99% of viruses are made for Windows, and most of the rest are aimed at OS X. Linux just isn't going to get those. It's also generally more bug-free, which means generally fewer security holes that can be exploited. It's not virus-proof, especially since most malware these days is installed by deceived users, not by exploiting security holes, but it's better than Windows. But the OS is only part of it. Your applications are also vulnerable. Fortunately, the three most frequently exploited pieces of software either don't run on Linux at all (Internet Explorer and Adobe Acrobat Reader), or run so poorly that many people don't bother with it (Flash). However, an increasing amount of malware runs purely within the browser. And that will affect you pretty much equally, no matter which OS your browser is running on. I'll say this: it's as safe as any OS out there that's user-friendly enough to recommend to anyone, and it's safer than most OSes out there. But it's not a magic bullet. I'll also say this: how much security do you need? If it's just regular banking and stuff, and your bank is FDIC insured as required, even Windows is safe enough, as long as you're not a moron and you keep up-to-date with patches. If you're doing something that deserves more paranoia than that, I'd suggest getting an actual expert who can tell you what you do and don't need. Because for some ultra-sensitive stuff, you may need more security than a common Linux provides - you'll probably need some sort of hardened Linux that uses SELinux, and have it properly configured (this is massive overkill for basic desktops, which is what Ubuntu is aimed at - while SELinux exists for Ubuntu, it is not set up by default because it's seriously like military-grade security). Also, disregard my ninja Tux avatar - it's a leftover from when I was a raging Linux fanboy who would have just said "hell yes" and then ranted about M$ for a few pages.

My mouse keeps disconnecting itself and then reconnecting. I've googled around and I haven't found a solution. What happens is, the mouse suddenly stops working (yet the red light underneath it is still on). After about 1-8s I can hear the familiar "USB unplug" sound, and then it starts working again. This mostly happens (90%) while I'm gaming. Sometimes the mouse never comes back to life, and when I try to switch USB ports, it basically "kills" those USB ports, forcing me to reboot to fix the issue. I don't think it's a faulty wire, since I've tried the mouse on our laptop and it worked flawlessly. I suspect the problem lies in the USB root hub. So I just unchecked the box "turn off device to save power". No idea if this will help. If anyone else have had the same problem please tell me how you fixed it.
-output snip- I keep getting bind9 errors and nothing I do seems to fix them, what do?
Firstly, if you're running as root, you don't need sudo. Secondly, I'm not sure this is something you can fix on your end - it seems to be a problem with the way the Ubuntu maintainers set up the package. File a bug.
I keep getting bind9 errors and nothing I do seems to fix them, what do?
Are you using any non-standard repos? And it could just be a mirror out of sync. Do 'apt-get update' and 'apt-get upgrade'.
I'm just going to combine my questions and get them over with. I hate asking these questions and then afterwards feeling stupid. People tell me, "you're so smart with computers" yet there is so much shit I should know, that I don't. 1. I plan to run 2 SSD's in raid 0 soon, should I get faster ram? I run two 4GB sticks and two 2GB sticks totaling at 12GB at 1333mhz (G.Skill) Won't getting (say 1866mhz) help with my SSD speed and help with OC'ing my 2500k to 4.5ghz? Also, if I wanted to have 8GB of ram, should I do 2 4gb sticks or 4 2gb sticks?
Are you using any non-standard repos? And it could just be a mirror out of sync. Do 'apt-get update' and 'apt-get upgrade'.
Already tried that, says that 1 package is to be updated and the update is 0kb, before telling me that bind9 needs to be upgraded.
