should i install 32 bit or 64 bit java? or do i have to install both?
i'm running windows 8 64 bit and some programs i use besides browsers are 64 bit enabled java programs. some of these java based games require shitloads of ram, which is why i want 64 bit java.
Why would you not install 64bit Java?
Install both, I have 64 bit for minecraft running at max settings and view distance, and 32 for chrome.
Are you using any non-standard repos?
And it could just be a mirror out of sync. Do 'apt-get update' and 'apt-get upgrade'.
has anyone else been having trouble with Twitch for the past week or so? i can't watch any streams, even on 360p i'll get stuttering most of the time
didn't have this problem before that and i know it's not on my end, everything else is working fine and i was just watching the gamescom stream earlier today in HD
Posted an order for a downloadable game about 30 minutes ago, and it's still stuck at "Order Verification".
The money's been withdrawn from my PayPal already, so should I be worried? How long would I usually have to wait?

depends on the website, look at their FAQs or something

I forgot to mention that the site I was using is Newegg.
Trying to put Ubuntu 12.04 on my 32GB pendrive using Unetbootin, but for some reason it crashes during the persistence part. I've tried altering the persistent volumes but I can't get it working.
So I ran a memory test.

The, I powered down and re-seated the memory.

Does this mean what I think it means or am I just stupid?

Fuck, I tried this test a few more times; I rotated the RAM, tried both RAM sticks in new slots, and tried one at a time. Each time it failed at the same spot. Now I'm worried that I fucked up my motherboard, possibly during a BIOS update.
I had updated my BIOS and when I did, it starting POSTing different. MSI doesn't publish POST sounds for my specific BIOS, nor does it publish documentation on how to update BIOS correctly so I'm basically sunk.
How are one of these for RAM?
Any opinions or advice as to what I should do?

Has been like this for around 10 minutes.

EDIT: Got it working. Thanks for the help. Had to wait a whole lot, though. Do you happen to know if there are any ways of increase the persistent space?
Hey, i just need some quick help.
I got this computer http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Clevo-W150ER-Barebone-Notebook.74595.0.html.
Only thing is i dont have an ssd. Instead i have a 320gb hdd with 7200 rpm and a 750gb 5400rpm hdd.
And i wonder, would i earn much performance in gaming if i swithc the os/ game folder to an ssd disk? I know it helps for load times, but could it also help fps stability?
And last question, Would this ssd fit my pc?
http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=749483#reviews
The SSD will make your computer way faster in general, you may not see an FPS increase unless said game does a lot of R/W to the drive its installed on, but load times will be godly
Why would you not install 64bit Java?
Honestly, I wish 64 bit systems would *only* need to install 64 bit Java.
But unfortunately, for some reason Windows developers seem to think it's bad practice to compile for 64 bit unless legitimate use deems it necessary.
[editline]21st August 2013[/editline]
meaning you need a 32 bit for all the 32 bit programs that use Java (a.k.a. literally every browser)

A lot of ISPs have a media-streaming proxy that handles video and audio...
It's never very good, and it's why a lot of people have trouble with YouTube. Call up your ISP, ask them if they have any sort of media proxy, and go from there.

Well an Arduino isn't more geared towards electronics development, and you can't run any kind of OS on it. Raspberry Pi is more aimed towards software development, since you can run Linux on it.

What about an Android Mini PC?

Recently, Windows has been having some strange behavior - it will only display the last user logged in on the welcome screen, and if I want to log in as someone else, I have to use the "Other User" selection. Additionally, managing all User Accounts is broken (displays no accounts).
I can still log into all accounts on this computer just fine, so the profiles aren't damaged or whatever happened last time, but I would like to know what happened and how I can reverse this.
Can anyone suggest a reasonably cheap VPS host? Piles of bandwidth with very little performance is what I'm looking for. It's just going to be running an RTMP module on nginx for a live broadcast TV show.
The upload rate in the studio isn't really good enough, while pushing it to an external server would be the way forward.
Other suggestions welcome.

my HDD has been clogging up lately and I've no clue where or what is taking so much space. is there a function I can use to locate folders with a lot of GB's in it or locate useless junk taking up space?

oh and, why are my steam downloads going like a rollercoaster? there is nothing wrong with my internet, but the downloads keep stopping and starting. task manager is indicating that a lot of HDD activity is going on

Is a better contrast ratio than 1000:1 of any significant value for a monitor in gaming?

Don't worry about contrast ratios, they're widely regarded as bullshit

WinDirStat
I'm looking to shell out at least 1.5 grand to 2 grand on a laptop for college.
All I need is something to get me through CS and film production majors.
I'd probably be using autodesk, photoshop, AE, avid, and premiere. I'd like to run premiere flawlessly.
I'm not looking to game, but a nice graphics card and decent sized hard drive would be excellent. I'd consider SSD, but I've been told they can fail more often than a hard drive? Never experienced one before.
Looking for something with at least 15 inches and has a nice battery life.
Thanks folks!
