How do triple monitor setups work now? When I was last current you either needed a newer ATI/AMD card and one of the displays had to be connected using DP and NVidia surround worked if all three monitors were the same. How would I configure 2 VG236H and one VG236HE in a triple monitor environment using today's GPUs?
[QUOTE=gman003-main;41988146]A 660M is essentially a desktop 650 with a 20% underclock. It's not "blazing fast" but it runs Crysis on Very High at 1080p. It's probably equivalent to a 560Ti.
Similarly, the 680M is basically a 670 with an underclock (closer to 25% IIRC).
As for why they do it, it's not the thickness of the card they're concerned with, but the heat. Those 20% underclocks turn into 60% decreases in power consumption and heat, so they can manage with a much smaller heatsink and fans. Which yes, is mainly for a thinner system.[/QUOTE]
Great, so it'd be a sidegrade. I could live with that, as long as I can keep slapping people with purple dildos in Saints Row.
[QUOTE=Shadaez;41988250]what's a "HI-FI" wire[/QUOTE]
Pure gold
I bought a major upgrade for my PC (new CPU+mainboard+RAM) and now after assembling it, nearly everything seems to be running fine.
But I have this weird issue where my CPU fan stops spinning when I start a game. The CPU heats up to 90°C and when I leave the game the fan immediately starts spinning as fast as it can and cools it down 40°C again and slows down to normal speeds again.
Oh, and another weird thing: Previously whenever I had a really high framerate (1000+) my GPU would make a high pitched noise, I googled a bit and found out it was nothing bad and since it was only happening very rarely I didn't do anything about it. But now it's happening everytime my GPU is doing anything. Even if it's just rendinger a single frame ingame.

The second one is either coil wine or a fan bearing. I'm going to go with the latter.
The first? No idea. Good luck.

I took a closer [del]look[/del] listen and found out the noise is coming from the PSU, not the GPU and the noise is much louder when I have a higher framerate and that's also when the CPU fan stops spinning. Is it possible that the PSU is having problems supplying enough power and the fan is the first thing to go?

Possibly. Try plugging more stuff in and seeing if you blue screen.
I'm looking into getting a new usb 3.0 with reasonable cost. Any recommendations? 16gb+ with a nice size. I've had tons of usbs in the past and they all go floppy or the circuit gets loose from the case and other crap. I want a sturdy usb that doesn't make me scared it'll break and I'll lose all info.

Since I don't have more stuff I removed my GPU and now the squealing stopped and the fans work normally. I think I'll just get a new PSU.
[QUOTE=Shadaez;41988250]what's a "HI-FI" wire[/QUOTE]
British English may of confused you here, "HI-FI" is another word for us to refer to a stereo. Never heard another American refer to it as that at least. So I was talking about the wire carrying the sound to it at that point.
A wire's a wire, really. The wires used in stereos or HI-FI sets are usually really cheap ones, even. Nothing that makes it a purpose cable, since they don't even have connectors.
[editline]28th August 2013[/editline]
Oh wait you aren't even talking about wires used in stereo or hi-fi setups.
Is [URL="http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/VE247H/"]this[/URL] monitor decent? I currently am using a Samsung syncmaster 2243lnx and am looking for one with HDMI support.
The price seems very nice and I don't see any major flaws in it, no downgrade from my current monitor.
My mouse pointer flickers constantly? I just got out of GMOD and it started doing it, does it have to do that I'm currently using a wireless mouse? I only have steam, Skype and Chrome open so I don't know what's going on. But it sure as hell is annoying to look at!
I tried disabling Aero, and it seems it worked. I just wan't Aero though.
Hello, is there any harm to adjusting fan speeds with software called "SpeedFan" ?
I'm not sure how the graphics card in particular adjusts the fan speed as temperatures get higher or lower automatically (they do?), but on idle the software says the graphics card is running at 25% which is like 1300 RPM, but I nudged it up to 45% which is 2600. Can it blow up or something?

If you're changing GPU fan speeds you'd be better off using MSI afterburner and making a new fan profile that changes based on temps rather than hard setting it to something. It won't blow up or anything, but it could overheat and crash the display driver, which would also reset the fan speeds to default - so it's unlikely to cause any damage.

A wire is a wire especially if it's already amplified and can handle the load.
A wire is not a wire if you're running mic levels though.

Well the thing is, for some reason, in my relatively clean and dusted out PC, two graphics cards so far have suffered from overheating. Even though everything else seems to be working as intended; fans spinning and the computer operating just fine in general, (minus GPU overheating and causing the 24" sometimes to black out for a second.)
So I'm wondering if anyone else has resorted to SpeedFan or MSI afterburner to simply nudge up the fan speed of their GPU in particular? Because with these temps I'm going to have to do that I think.
Quick question: Had a bit of a problem last night where i bsod, nothing major. But upon rebooting when launching steam it was stating steamapps was not in the correct directory/could not be found even though it was in the correct place and everything.
Ran a disk check and it turned my steamapps folder not into a .chk file but into just a .file that was 0kb.
So i figured whatever, couldn't salvage anything from it no big deal ill redownload my games since i would get at least 200 gigs of free space. However, apparently the space is still allocated as if all the game files were still there even when they weren't. I can't seem to get that space back unless i were to reformat the whole damn thing which i do not want to do. Anybody help me out?
44c idle is pretty hot

mah automerge!
Those that have the Playstation 3D Display, how does one tilt it back?
I really have no idea what I'm doing.
Which of this video cards is better?

The have almost the same price, and from what I can see, the same specs.
Sorry that the pages are in spanish, but the info is still readable.
So, ever since changing from 570 to 6970, I can't support Win7 Aero-shit, like theme color, and smooth windows when you minimize/maximize them.
It said my GPU doesn't support them, how can it be roflmao?

Try running a Driver Sweeper to get rid of the old Nvidia drivers. They could be conflicting with AMD's.

Doesn't work, it only crashes when trying to remove.
Or, goes stuck then "Not responding."
[editline]29th August 2013[/editline]
now it asked me to reboot twice, but there is STILL NVIDIA stuff on the list in this SweeperShit Software.
Also, now because of this, before I can jump to desktop, the commandline thingy asks me "Y/N?" to a question "NVIDIA?" and after answering Y it goes to desktop.
GG
[editline]29th August 2013[/editline]
Also yeah, Win7 Aero-shit still not working, as one would assume.

Did you try it in safe mode? Create a system restore point before you do, too.

No just normal mode, don't see why it should have some problem with removing the NVIDIA's remaining stuff.
As for system restore point, I may as well restore this shit back to day 1..
[editline]29th August 2013[/editline]
tried to manually remove a folder named "NVIDIA Corporation" but obviously I can't do that, so I removed everything that I can inside the folder. Display is what remains and can't be removed.

That's because your OS is most likely using that file; the best way to remove it would be to boot into safe mode. I'm willing to bet that's what's causing your conflict.
Okay, DriverSweeper STILL has 3 NVIDIA things on its list: NVIDIA - Chipset, Display and PhysX, but neither analyzing them or cleaning them doesn't work; I manually removed everything else related to them. I'm sorry but, you really use this software yourself? Doesn't even seem to work properly.

Okay fine, I went to safe mode, but as one would have assumed, SweeperSoftware wasn't able to do anything more. And Win7 Aero-effects are still not working either. Got any other ideas?
[editline]29th August 2013[/editline]
Or maybe 6970 doesn't support the shiny Win7 features?
[editline]29th August 2013[/editline]
ok, if you know how, tell me how to make clean uninstall of everything? literally everything. this is just too fucked up to be ever fixed.
Ok, I got the info on english.

Find your Windows install disk and go to town.
