So about 10 minutes ago I got some constant "device-disconnected/connected" windows 8 sound (like if you plug in a USB device) for about 45 seconds and then some "artifacts" on the monitor. I didn't take any screenshots of it because I restarted the PC. (I took photos with phone though)
It stayed even If I restarted the PC but It went away after I completely turned the PC off and hit the switch for electricity and turned on PC after about a minute.
So it's gone now but im curiou what it is/was and if its my GPU showing signs of dying or something.

Reinstall drivers?
FYI, you're looking at the same model. Anyways, I have a XL2420T and I'm adoring this. There's a reason why BenQ is put in every freaking tournament out there. They deliver quality.
Oh, silly me. Right then. I ordered it a few hours ago, will be picking it up within 2-10 days.
Thanks, Killervalon!
So I've been having odd problems with my laptop lately. Sometimes when powering on the display (from boot or from resume), it will show a blank grey screen. Only thing that fixes this is twisting the LCD slightly (move right upper corner forward, left upper corner back).
It seems to me like some display cable is coming loose. That seem right, or does this sound more like a cable actually breaking, or even some deeper issue?
I've had some pretty bad issues with my pc for a couple days now.
One evening I noticed when opening My Computer that my newest 2tb hard drive was missing from the list of storage devices. There had been some issues with this drive in the past but I believe those were caused by a loose SATA cable.
I promptly restarted my pc and it hasn't worked since. When I turn it on it takes me to the OS selection menu, where the only options are windows recovery console and Windows xp. In reality I'm using Windows 7 x64 ultimate, although I did install it on top of my old copy of xp. Some of the xp files are still there, but I've deleted system files and such leaving only personal documents.
When choosing xp in the OS selection menu I only get a message about Ntoskrnl.exe missing.
I figured I might as well repair w7 or reinstall it, but no matter what I set the boot priority to, it never manages to start the installation from USB or dvd.
Somehow I managed to get Windows to reinstall, so I suppose it's fixed now.
Running a Samsung 256GB PRO ssd on Windows 8. In task manager my average response time keeps jumping over 50ms and back down to under 1ms. When writing lots of data it can jump up to over 1000ms and stay there. Is this normal?
[editline]Edit[/editline]
Apparently the task manager in Windows 8 is inaccurate. I've tested the response time with HDTUNE and it's perfectly under 0.1ms.
So recently I installed windows 8.1, but my internet stopped working when it went to the store to install the final part.
Fine enough, I guess I could just get it from the store later? Nope, apparently not.
There has been a window asking me to install the update from the store several times, but they are all perfectly time to when I have to shut my computer down.
Is there any way to get the update from the store?
I have tried searching for it without any luck.
Please anyone, help!
My cursor moves slower horizontally than it does vertically. It is wireless, and yes I tried changing the battery. I also tried going through my pointer settings and set the speed up/down to see if it affected it.
Nothing.
It's really annoying and I don't know what to do about it, any help? I seriously hope something is just bugging it and it's not the mouse itself :v:

Have you tried it on other surfaces? Might be your desk/mousepad

Yes, still the same.
However I tried cleaning my mouse, now it goes like it used to. I guess the laser was just dirty.

Any ideas on how to make my CPU run cooler? It idles fine (low 30s), but when I play certain games (say, Medal of Honor, or Far Cry 3), temps can go up to the low 60's in C. Other games such as gmod or other source games have more ideal temps. I've reseated my heatsink and applied new TIM to the CPU, but still the same, really. Any advice will be appreciated.
My GPUs temps are fine, in case you wanted to know.
Please excuse my cable management lol

60C is pretty okay under load tbh.

I sympathise with the fact that you went with an AMD FX CPU. Besides from that which processor is it specifically? AMD says that the maximum safe operating temperature for the FX-series tends to be 61C. If this was about a modern Intel processor then it'd be a different story altogether.
Also you should correct the orientation of that CPU heatsink unless you have a vent on the top. It's probably better to reorientate it anyway since you have an exhaust fan at the back of your case.

60 c isn't really anything bad.
60C is pretty okay under load tbh.
Depends on the part. You wouldn't want a hard drive going over 60C, but most graphics cards can withstand temperatures up to 80C now.

Oh yea, I totally meant his harddrive when he specifically said CPU.
Going back to school and as such I need something for work. I'm thinking of going with this:

For a £150 budget is this good? The keyboard dock I've linked has rather low reviews on the UK site but yet on the US site it has more than 100 4 star reviews.

Is there an alternative keyboard dock that some of you could recommend?
Also I was referred towards a Surface RT but the starting costs of it are nearly £300 new. Ebay listings have it for less but I would need to pay up to nearly $100 just for the import charges alone.

It's actually a Phenom II x4 965 BE

I saw you're motherboard listed as AM3+ so I assumed it might have been an FX. Wasn't fully aware it had backwards compatibility with regular AM3 processors. I'm pretty out of touch with AMD and should've looked more into it. With that CPU AMD state that the maximum safe operating temperature is 62C.
how do i change my motherboard from RAID to AHCI without reinstalling windows or loosing any of my files?
I'm looking for a somewhat reliable, trustworthy Jabber server with ICQ transport.
Almost anything should be fine that doesn't hijack my account.

Not for AMD CPU, that's about the maximum temp.

Deneb cores shut off somewhere above 60-61. Some will go to 70 before it happens, but it's bad for the chip.

Looks like my aftermarket heatsink isn't doing me much good then, it's quieter than stock, that's for fucking sure, but I guess I still gotta mess around with it to get some lower temps. Should I bother to undervolt?

you probably just need to remount it, make sure you don't tighten it TOO much either

Can someone help me? The fan doesn't fit the rubber thingies.
So I'm going to buy a Asus GTX 760 OC for my computer as soon as I get the money for it (Which could be today or in two or three weeks time) and I would appreciate someone looking over and confirming to me that it would boost performance. I would also like to know if it would be enough to make my PC last running games on high until 2015 if possible. Here are my current specs

One thing to bear in mind that I will also be going from 1366x768 to a 1080p screen at the same time. The most demanding games I can think of from the top of my head are GTA 4, Arma 2 (Running DayZ) and Bioshock Infinite.
Am I the only one that gets pissed off by the bad grammar in the thread title every single time I see it
Yes
