Ok should I do anything before touching the inside components of my PC? I'm scared of static shocks to me and to my system. Also do I touch metal? Anyway I got this in my room, should I touch this before touching my PC components? Anyway just confused, need help! http://www.bathroomsupercentre.com/guides/images/radiator.jpg
Step one: Unplug the computer, completely, and give it about five minutes (both to give capacitors some time to discharge, and to let any hot parts cool). Step two: Ground yourself. That radiator looks like an excellent one, if it has metal (ie. conductive) plumbing that goes all the way to the earth. If that fails, you can ground yourself against the metal in the computer case (honestly, I would do both). Step three: Try to avoid touching conductive elements. Don't touch the pins/pads on the processor or socket, don't touch the pins of the video card, etc. Don't worry too much if you do, but this is just to further minimize risk. If you are really concerned, get an anti-static strap. They're like $5 - you wear one end, and plug the other into the ground pin (NOT POWER!) of an electrical socket. It keeps you fully grounded the whole time. I really only bother with mine when I'm doing things with a CPU - video cards or RAM, I generally don't bother.

It's what I've always done, and I've never fried anything.
Is it just more or does Windows Movie Maker crash a fuckton on Windows 8?
Just installed a new PSU at 600w, my former one was 580w and it was enough for my computer. Now my computer just keeps turning off and on on start up. I'm unable to turn the computer off via the power button so I have to kill the power through the PSUs power switch. My former PSU broke down last night when booting down and is giving off a high pitched noise whenever it's plugged in to the power. My new model is the Corsair CX600M and my old one was a five year old Hiper Type R 580w. There was a plastic cover over the eight pin motherboard connector that covered four pins. We removed it for the new PSU since it didn't come with a four pin cable.
Nexus 7 for $180, or Kindle Fire HDX for $230? (USD) for Nexus, [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img] for Kindle. Can't really decide between the two. I'm looking to buy a tablet, and these two seem pretty decent to me. I don't know much about tablets, so if anyone has any better recommendations within the same price range feel free to let me know. Edit: Nexus 7 it is! Thanks guys.

What I'm saying is it might be a motherboard problem of all things.

If you're gonna compare the Nexus 7 to anything, compare it to something that actually has the same functionality like the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (hint: the Nexus 7 wins)

Just nabbed the last one amazon had in stock for 40% off.
What is a good ISO mounting program?
What is a good ISO mounting program?
WinCDEmu's giving me no problems. Daemon Tools completely removed my physical disk drives and refused to mount any of my isos.

My windows/bios time doesn't update when my PC is turned off. I restarted the Windows Time service in services.msc, but that didn't fix it. Do I have to replace my CMOS battery? Got a new CMOS battery and it still doesn't keep time updated. Not sure what else it could be other than a bad motherboard...
Is there an application that overlays certain statistics in the corner of my screen? Like fraps but for cpu, gpu temps, etc?
What is a good ISO mounting program?
The one built into Windows is really good.
The one built into Windows is really good.
That's only built into Windows 8. He's on 7. #windows8masterrace
Do you know of anyway that I can make sure if it's the motherboard?
For the noise you can follow this guide.
Why does this happen for hours at at time for no reason?
do a tracert, I used to have problems and it was a poor cable connection,
http://i.imgur.com/KTdGxXm.png Any idea what that means? [editline]2nd October 2013[/editline] "Jee Sean I haven't annoyed you in a while so how about some faulty wiring but also it's 3 am and also the faulty wiring is under a double bed" - The Internet Swapped out some cables, i'll try it this way for a few days and if it persists i'll let you know.
There's this computer set I've been looking at, I want to confirm here if it's worth it. AMD Phenom II X4 965 (with Scythe Katana 4) ASUS M5A97 R2.0 8GB of 1600MHz RAM SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 128GB M4-SSD 750GB Hitachi XFX 550w Zalman Z5+ X-Fi Fatal1ty champion soundcard (with a front mount.) Logitech Z523 2.1 speaker set Benq gl2240 FullHD-monitor Some cheap set of wireless keyboard+mouse. So that's 500€ and in my opinion it's well worth that price, am I right?
My psu just broke down so im looking for a new one. I saw the Chieftec APS-650CB 650W 80+ Bronze. I first went to search about the company and all I got is some russian pages. No reviews whatsoever. Later I stumbled upon a thread in tomshardware forum where someone was asking the same question Im asking. Im going to ask again, just to be sure. Is this a trusty company/psu?
Why the hell is Google Translator gone? Or well, not gone entirely, but I can't access it as easily anymore. Just yesterday or so, I could just type any word into the address bar, press Enter, it would jump to google with that word, then just click "Translator" and you're there, but now it's not there. Being logged in doesn't help.. So Wtf? An incredibly handy (and by far the most fast and efficient) Google translator just gone inside a day, or made harder to access. (You have to actually search for it.. it's not a clickable tab anymore on google homepage, which sucks.)

Yeah fuck Google, they just made their translator a tiny bit less convenient, but it works..
Wondering this, my MSI FM2-A85XA-G43 motherboard just arrived, (I have to shelf it for a couple of months though) and I basically want my secondary monitor to run from the APU and primary from the GPU to decrease the load. Is it possible to let the internal graphics from the APU and the GPU be active at the same time? I'm going to be buying the AMD A10-6800K
You can but its not really good for a long-term solution.
You can but its not really good for a long-term solution.
May I ask why not? The current GPU I have is a weak, crappy Radeon HD 6670 so I want to optimize the load as much as possible.
May I ask why not? The current GPU I have is a weak, crappy Radeon HD 6670 so I want to optimize the load as much as possible.
pretty sure the 6670 and APU can work together for dual graphics, just plug them both into the 6670
I'll give it a try ASAP, keep in mind this motherboard is just a worthless plank with some electronics on it without a CPU, I need to get the money yet for the APU. I should be able to buy the APU within 3 months. Edit: Just searched for a compatibility list, combining a A10-6800K and 6670 seems to be possible. Using dual graphics, will I be able to use both the 6670s video outputs and the onboard video outputs of the motherboard? In my future setup I like to keep our old 40'' Samsung TV connected when we have friends coming over and what not
