should I invest in an SSD disk or two?
Long story yes, short story yes.
Long story yes, short story yes.
You're supposed to say "short answer: yes; long answer: yyyyesssssssss"
What's the easiest/safest way to move my Windows system partition? I want to install Linux on my EFI raid, but the only free space is around 2.5TB in. Grub(?) says there's no image to boot off or something along those lines. There's a 100MB EFI partition at the start but I doubt I can move that. The main partition is relatively huge, so I can't create a backup. Something that doesn't move the whole thing but just reorganizes the files as needed would be great.
Looking into getting a new graphics card for my PC, what would give me the greatest power in terms of longevity, getting 1 really powerful card, or 2 not as powerful cards and using SLI
Looking into getting a new graphics card for my PC, what would give me the greatest power in terms of longevity, getting 1 really powerful card, or 2 not as powerful cards and using SLI
I'm pretty sure getting one powerful one would be better. Then you can get another one to SLI with later.
I'm pretty sure getting one powerful one would be better. Then you can get another one to SLI with later.
That's a very good point Out of the blue, any cards you'd recommend? Anything from like, 250-500$ price range
That's a very good point Out of the blue, any cards you'd recommend? Anything from like, 250-500$ price range
I'm not really qualified to recommend new cards, since I'm still using a Geforce 8800 GTS from 2008. But if your budget goes up to $500, the GTX 770 is probably the best. EDIT: some people say the GTX 770 isn't that much better than the GTX 680 and it costs more so IDK

What would be the best way to record a .gif for avatar purposes?
What would be the best way to record a .gif for avatar purposes?
You can convert to gif in photoshop
[t]http://puu.sh/4GpRI.png[/t] anyone know why this is happening? ticker works kind of in IE, but it won't show new ticks unless I refresh the page and the ticker in chrome is completely broken. why is this?
There's this computer set I've been looking at, I want to confirm here if it's worth it. AMD Phenom II X4 965 (with Scythe Katana 4) ASUS M5A97 R2.0 8GB of 1600MHz RAM SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 128GB M4-SSD 750GB Hitachi XFX 550w Zalman Z5+ X-Fi Fatal1ty champion soundcard (with a front mount.) Logitech Z523 2.1 speaker set Benq gl2240 FullHD-monitor Some cheap set of wireless keyboard+mouse. So that's 500€ and in my opinion it's well worth that price, am I right?
Seems like a good deal to me if it comes with everything listed. If the price isn't firm always try to drop the price. Remind him that the CPU is long outdated and the GPU is 3, going on 4 generations behind the curve.
I went and did some research about AMD Dual Graphics, my GPU IS compatible for this, but now reading the FAQ brought me into doubts: My GPU is a Radeon HD 6670, the APU's ''GPU'' is a Radeon HD 7660D Would this mean I have to plug my monitors in on the motherboard? Sorry for asking such a stupid question here, but this will keep me from sleeping tonight.

Stick it in the 6670.
gonna throw some money at an SSD disk when I get the money and I saw this one Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme SSD 256 GB any thoughts? should I wait until I can afford the 512 GB one or is 256 GB enough?
In the topic of SSD upgrades, I have this hard drive. But now I'm interested in getting this SSD. From my understanding I can put the OS and games I often play on the SSD and the hard drive just to store general stuff. Is this a good investment or am I just wasting money for a flashy samsung brand?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236331 Thoughts on this? I'd like to start saving up money to get 3 new monitors. I have the following requirements: 24"-27" (24 is just fine, more than 27 is too big for me) 1080 or 1200 resolution HDCP compliant (but really, can you even find new non HDCP's anymore?) At least 1 HDMI input Integrated USB hub would be nice, but is optional.
My windows/bios time doesn't update when my PC is turned off. I restarted the Windows Time service in services.msc, but that didn't fix it. Do I have to replace my CMOS battery? Got a new CMOS battery and it still doesn't keep time updated. Not sure what else it could be other than a bad motherboard...
Still can't find a solution. Anyone know an answer?
Still can't find a solution. Anyone know an answer?
The battery should have fixed it, I assumed you've googled it as much as possible. Might want to pop over to overclock net to see if anyone over there can help you.
Is there a particular reason why Windows and the BIOS of my Gigabyte Z77-D3H is reporting my CPU is 3.9GHz? I never overclocked my i7 3770K and I just want to know why it's doing that. I tried a reset, checked its settings and it's stating its 3.5GHz.
Must be reporting the turbo speed instead of the regular speed?
Thing is, I didn't set it to 3.9GHz. I can't overclock or underclock. It still says 3.9GHz no matter what.
What's a good gaming monitor size? The way my desk is built, my free space is about 10.5 inches wide. So what monitor should I get? A 22 inch?
Thing is, I didn't set it to 3.9GHz. I can't overclock or underclock. It still says 3.9GHz no matter what.
Maybe max clockspeed? Turbo boost is automatic, too, so that could be it.
Maybe max clockspeed? Turbo boost is automatic, too, so that could be it.
I suppose. Lemme find the motherboard driver disc.
Got an external HDD connected via. USB. Should I break it open and plug it inside my PC so its internal? Worth it? Thoughts?
Got an external HDD connected via. USB. Should I break it open and plug it inside my PC so its internal? Worth it? Thoughts?
They're usually 2.5" ones, depends on what model they have inside, like if it's a cheap nasty drive I wouldn't suggest it.

Unfortunately it doesn't tell you how long it takes beforehand (and also doesn't display an ETA).
So I'm about to switch motherboards and thus completely re-install windows. Should I upgrade to windows 8? I have the money and was debating it. Any input?
